We might not have had UA-cam videos years ago but the crafting TV show with Aleene and her daughters started me on my crafting journey! I remember her making paper beads as well as "porcelain" roses out of white bread and glue. She was a pioneer! I'm enjoying your videos! ♡

I remember her show watched and recorded her shows on VHS tapes. I made the porcelain roses with her glue and white bread and acrylic paint, I even would get her craft projects in the mail and put them in a binder. That was many years ago brought back lots of crafty memories lol.

Your talent for the beads you make according the unique project you designed on your own is not "clumsy "! It is another expression of your crafting in the "paper bead" world! Thank you for sharing with your viewers!

This is a wonderful video. One little tip that I use is once I get the paper started on my tool I Put A little dab of art glitter glue and hold that for a little bit till it dries and that helps with the shifting

Hey there Lisa: Thank you for showing how to use the righy size yarn stick to seal paper beads with. I was using a smaller one, & they just kept sliding back & forth. And...thanks for telling us about the "fast drying nail polish". This type does make a big difference. I love your idea for making these journal assemblies. So cute! Your NOT clumsy. We all! have our own way of doing things! And your getting your style accomplished! You go! girl. Loved your video!

Using bobby pins are a great tool to use when making paper beads I buy a bundle of wooden chop sticks from the Asian market next to my home 🏠. And I glue a Bobby pin on the top 🔝 of one then I use the otherbchop sticks to hold the beads while they are drying and I have a styrofoam Circle that I just poke the Chopsticks in, they just stay there till they dry.

FYI I have been making paper beads for years I have used all different types of sealers Modge Podge fingernail polish different types of resins I have found what works best and gives your paper beads more longevity and durability is a liquid wood hardener I dip all my beads into a liquid wood hardener for at least three coats drying in between each dip it is best to string your beads on fishing wire with a stopper on one end and a loop on the other so that you can hang them to dry

As my side-hustle I have been making jewelry (and show clothes for entertainers), since the late 1960s. Today I am watching UA-cam videos as I power through making at least 250 pairs of earrings. (I haven't watched TV in years.) I retired from my full-time job of over 50yrs in 2020 related to '19'. I never strive for perfection. My items are handmade and I am proud of that. To date I have never had anyone complain about handmade items. (The price is a different story.) Your video was informative, entertaining, enjoyable and included humor. I cannot ask for more than that - especially since you shared your time and energy at no cost. I am a huge believer in Practice Makes Progress. I realize this video was posted years ago and you may not read comments this old but I find your personality and voice to be delightful and your unexpected bits of humor are a treat. New Subscriber.

You are such a darling :)
The "blue tile" bead has a gorgeous pattern.
I like to glue and coat my paper beads with simple white wood glue. It`s cheaper, you can buy it in bigger bottles, and it`s great for almost all paper projects.
In case I want very shiny beads, I add a clear coat. Otherwise, the glue does both, it glues and protects the beads. Provided you apply it the same way as a clear coat.
I`ve made quite some earring loops in my life and sometimes they still make me swear... I bet in front of a camera, I would fail miserably 🤣
Thank you for such a pleasant video!

Wow! I'm impressed with your beads! I had been interested in trying... & I will try now because you made it look so easy & pretty!!! I make jewelry & loops are simple for me now, but not when I started!! Watch a "making simple loops" video, & you'll be glad you did, (less wear & tear on your fingers). These beautiful creations, I have not tried. Your beads are gorgeous, I thought they were ceramic beads!!

    Hi Lisa
I do videos as well and know if it can go wrong, it will 🤣
I just started making paper beads and I ink the edge of the paper before rolling if I don't want the white sides. I love the idea of the clear polish for some reason I did not think of this.

I totally get it about the Murphy's Law thing when trying to show how to do something. LOL One main reason I don't try to make how-to videos. It's hard enough when trying to show somebody something one-on-one, in person. Very pretty beads, by the way. I just started trying to make these a few days ago, and they are addicting! I started out making doggie bowties, then doggie flowers (for the dog collars), and now here I am trying to make pretty fabric and paper beads. What in the world I will do with them I have no idea, since I don't journal or do any scrapbooking or anything. Reckon I can hang them from the zippers on the purses I make. 🙂

That’s a lot of nail polish… I think modpodge or a glaze might be more economical for me if I’m making a lot of paper beads.

When making your loop, bend the wire down like you did, then grab the tip of the wire and bend/roll it back to make your loop. Sorry it's a bit hard to explain but if you watch any jewellery maker on here you will see how to do it, it will make it much easier for you. Love your beads. Also you mentioned a paper bead maker xcan you givea link to where to get one xxx

Hi Lisa... just a FYI, I use mod podge instead of polish. I have found it lasts much better and takes a beating with out breaking down :).

I'm going to buy some new mod podge......who knows how old mine is....and when I used it I found that even when well dry...the beads stick to one another. Thank you, I will get some new and try again :)
