What a wander down memory lane. I missed the contest that year, I recall, because I was at the opera (cannot remember which one), but in an age before smartphones, everyone seemed to have heard the result by the time we came out of the theatre. Tony Blair and New Labour had just been elected to power after 18 years of Tory rule, everyone was feeling a bit giddy, and all of Europe seemed to approve. Bliss it was, to be awake in that dawn, but to be British was kinda cool.
    Thanks for uploading!
