- Documentary following people's champion Daz Sampson in his attempt to bring the Eurovision trophy home to the UK with a touch of irony and a healthy dose of optimism.

I literally cannot believe this isn’t a spoof. It’s a cross between Grindah and This Country
Directed by David Brent lol
FFS ofcourse its a spoof
@@dazsampson6387No it’s not, like actually Google it, he’s real.
This is fascinatingly sad.
This is pure David Brent
That this isn’t a spoof is just mind boggling.
This has to be the most tightly written comedy ever produced. This man cannot be real its euro vision meets David Brent meets Alan partridge but it's real 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
its like an office special that ricky gervais could do
I remember watching this in the run up to Eurovision 2006 and actually admiring his bullishness about his chances simply because it made a welcome change from the previous UK acts who were almost waving the white flag as soon as they were chosen.
Watching it with hindsight, though, it's clear that he pushed the self-confidence too far and set himself up for the fall he got with the result; pointing to the camera and saying "we're finishing top 5" was just asking for trouble.
Even so, I'm glad he represented the UK in the Contest and I hope he'll have the chance to do so again at some stage - although perhaps as a writer rather than a performer.
hah brilliant, Daz is so funny he is like something out of a sketch show.
Like a younger David Brent.
Yes I thought he seems like a real life david Brent ahah
He is serious...which is the funniest thing
@@Gianfranco_69 no im not FFS im sick of explaining it was a spoof
@@dazsampson6387 yeah alright maaaate.. nobody acts that well, you was 100% for real
This is genuinely hilarious about how much he thought he might win :')
One of the funniest documentary's ever.
This guy has to be one of the most deluded people I've seen on TV
A friend of mine used to be one of this guy's teachers back in his Stockport days, and he said he was a bit of a fantasist.
Little did he know back then what we know, that he would ascend to the heady heights of finishing inside the top 20 of the Eurovision Song Contest, being a professional football coach in global demand, while at the same time being a full-time editor of his own Wikipedia page.
He did say, though, that he had a good heart.
A mere knighthood? Daz merits the bestowal of an hereditary peerage!
yes i agree
i am so happy i found this, i cannot believe this is real
I cant believe he just said that 41:59
Typical geezer statement...
Yikes. Good spot.
what does that mean
@@ggoddf5889 Jessica (16) giving "favors" aka NOT A GOOD THING!
The way you can hear all the production crew burst out laughing lmao
This guy is not what expected, he should have his own mocumentary
By rights, Daz should have been remembered in the same league as the Wu-tang Clan, Run DMC and Jurassic 5.
This is incredible. This somehow has to be to made into a movie/mini series.
Adam Pacitti you legend.
Hilarious documentary! Can't believe this was 12 years ago!
20:30 holy fuck. Theres no way that this isnt a planned joke. its just too....too David Brent to be real.
i think the world (and eurovision) is finally ready for Daz.... time to bring it back Mr Sampson!
I don't think the UK have ever sent a worse song than his to eurovision. And that is saying something
I'm trying to imagine that this entire thing is just expert irony on some super extra level.
at last someone gets it
The Cultaholic boys brought me here
I've learned so much british pop culture because of them.
53:28 he summed it up 😂 the "time will tell" line killed me talking about whether he's as good as Mcartney 😂 Daz seems like a nice enough lad and he is driven and determined which has lead to what success he has had that has to be admired but europe was never going to get this song, it's catchy as hell though no doubt.
3:56 he turns in to David Brent
I love this. Contrary to many other comments I think he's having fun and knows exactly what he's doing, what he's saying. He's laughing and loving it
spot on
The first minute and I'm shocked it's not a piss take, it's got me cracking up 😂😂😂
it is a piss take FFS
@@dazsampson6387 I think he knows its a joke
Daz- go back and make more awesome songs with Uniting Nations please!! Those songs were and are still huge in the clubs here in Australia Especially the remixes! I think it was your best work yet! :-)
This sketch show is great, should have made another episode
exactly. anyone who cant see this is acting is Fucking stupid
Why hasn't this man been given a knighthood?
exactly
They gave one to "Sir" Jimmy Savile and it proved embarrassing. They're more cautious these days.
46:55 ahaha Paul Jordan 'Doing a PHD in Eurovision'. We he definitely has it now!! He was on a program this season about it too
I blame the Black Eyed Peas for his lowly finishing position.
He had a hit "Kung Fu Fighting". Sold 250,000 copies in UK, about 300 compilations across the world, and still got nothing from it. He has learnt to ensure he owns the rights to his own music. (re: video 11:40).
He should have won in 2006! Teenage life is a great song, still listen to it over and over
Mind you, he was 32 years old back in 2006. I find his preoccupation with teenagers' lives a tad worrying.
Highly intelligent girls as well. One of the girls was looking down her own throat to see if her tonsils were inflamed and she said “what’s that thing hanging down at the back of my throat?” and the reply was “that’s your vocal chord” and another girl said “no! That’s her laryngitis”!!
4:54 I think that's a polite way of calling him a bellend
He's likable enough to be fair. Absolutely awful at rapping obviously but still.
Man nailed the Eurovision performance on the night tbf
He absoulutely did!
Should really have been in TOP5
Living with Madeley sent me here.
Daz Sampson is his real name! A teacher found a piece of course work by a school pupil which featured him starring in Bus Stop the school play. (re: video 10:45)
I'm not sure if this was serious or not but it was very David Brent I must say
Well said Daz Sampson!
This is so entertaining
Video 22:50 - Pineapple Studio girls rehearsing for the Eurovision Song Contest with Daz's song. :)
Where are you now Daz, you total sausage
He is a football manager
im counting the money from the 14 top 20 hits i had, oh and enjoying a steak dinner madam
@@dazsampson6387 fair play Daz. Big fan of the Out Of Touch cover you did.
@@dazsampson6387 you can't rap mate. Listen to my songs. I would of won Eurovision you melt
@@dazsampson6387you had 6 top 20 hits stop lying 😂😂😭😭
1:57 Bosnia-"Herzegovinia"? Never heard of that place before. 😂
this guy reminds me of david brent lol
Anyone know where the “d a z man of the people, I am the people’s champion” part is ??
During the Eurovision Song Contest.Daz Sampson looked like a county line drug dealer selling dope to Essex schoolgirls .
He is very opinionated for someone who came almost last on the night.
Brilliant
He makes my skin crawl.
How come why
What an amazing jerk!
I must have been in the Pub that night - thank fuck!
Still not convinced this is a real person ...
Personally thought this song was brilliant and catchy, it was easily best song that year. Gina g was best song in her time.
He’s modest isn’t he
He deffo knocks about public toilets
its where i first met you
and then he comes 19th
I reckon daz sammo out his 85 grand winnings on him winning Eurovision
Many brilliant moments but I particularly like how he doesn't know Uniting Nations' name.
Hutz sent me here.
As a finn I loved his song and I think he would have deserved a high placing. Him and his girls.
36:50
The rock has entered the chat...
It was a much better effort than the result it got. Far worse songs not so catchy as this one that scored higher. His arrogance knows no bounds of course, but then I'd expect no less from a Gtr Manchester guy. lol. (they all caught it off Liam). Rather have to hear this again than that bloody Katrina & the Waves (Canadian?? What??) crap.
A Manc pub act who was somehow catapulted to the big stage, all be it briefly.
19:00
As camp as Eurovision
BBC: 22:52 WOW! 41:56 She is 16 dude...
Sampson > Brent
A disolutional loser who lost!
British acts will never win again it's all politics now
w00t first comment
Eurovision is so fucking political it's unreal
