  • We recently stayed a few nights at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown. We had a beautiful, very large Executive Suite. With summer rates the price was right!
The bathroom was huge with an amazing shower. However beautiful it was, when it came time to actually shower, there were some challenges. The water controls were about 7 feet away from the shower heads. I was able to shower fine, and because Maddie had my assistance she could shower, but someone in a wheelchair trying to shower themselves would have some issues.
The water controls were the biggest problem. If they had been placed by the shower heads the challenge of showering for someone in a wheelchair would be manageable. The amenities (shampoo, body wash, etc) being within reach of the bench would be helpful as well. I wonder sometimes how someone thought this design was a good idea.

I stayed at a place with a similar setup and ended up taking a sponge bath using the bathroom sink. I couldn't figure out how to turn the shower on. I am ambulatory but have balance issues and the distance between the bench and the shower head required me to walk across a wet shower floor. Good thing I had washed my hair the night before my one-day stay there.

Yes! Thankfully these tiles were not slippery but we have been in some showers that are dangerously slippery, especially when using the body wash.
