We tried our luck using the Move Up bidding process. We lucked out and our offer was accepted for a Celebrity Suite. First time ever in a bigger suite!! Although the bathroom wasn’t accessible for Maddie, she could still get in and enjoy family time and movie nights. A win for a 17-night cruise.

What ship did you sail on?
@@katewalsh3786 we were on the Celebrity Equinox.
I'm a bit afraid to go anywhere with my wheelchair and other issues.
@@sharonobryan9713 understandable. Everyone has their own comfort level.
Very nice. This helps me understand the bathroom setup. Thank you!
I agree the art is odd
Loving the magnetic hooks! We have booked a 14 transatlantic cruise for next year and was worried about laundry. Thank you for posting!!
Looking good Kathy & Maddie!
Good to see you again! Hope you are looking forward to your next travel to Europe!
@@TOholland we sure are!!
I was just thinking about you both, when this video popped up. Praying that all health issues are healed, so we can have you back again.
Great to see you and hope and pray whatever your dealing with will not slow you down much longer❤
I’ve missed you! Thanks for the check in! Take care!
Nice to see you ladies. The check in was great😊 it’s been hot, cold, rain and rare pea sized hail today. 😂
Missing you both. I’m heading to Alaska in 10 days😊
@@KLine-aka-Kathy wonderful! We love Alaska. Have so much fun!
❤ so glad to see you. I was thinking about you I hope everything is resolved a lot faster than you are expecting so we can come along with you on your adventures.
@@KatherineWalden we hope so too! See you soon. 😁
The rental is NOT until 9:00pm. Sailed December 2023 and occupied from 9:00am until 5:00pm when we were very politely told to leave. Attendant service was virtually non-existent after the initial drop-off of goodies. Had to constantly ask, for service. Prices have now climbed 20% in a scant six months. Celebrity, indeed.
That is not fair, as it is advertised as 9 am - 9pm. We have always left before dinner. Service is spotty. On some ships we have had excellent service and on others it is barely there.
@@wheelchairadventures8564 Agreed. Spoke to a travel agent, and wonderful rep at Celebrity. The 9 - 9 representation is a so-called "generic" time. Staff must set up for next day, so if you do not vacate by 5:00pm there is no one left to tidy up for tomorrow as crew is dispatched elsewhere. And Celebrity cannot sell it for the following day. It's all about the money NOT the customer.
Hi - booked this cabin for 2025. Was there any noise from the Oceanview cafe above?? Thanks
Unfortunately there is noise above from the cafe. It starts about 4am. We got used to it, but if you are a light sleeper it could be a problem.
I have a 7 day cruise in three weeks, so i won't need them there, but I have a three week Panama Canal cruise next October, where laundry charges could get rather expensive.
Laundry can get very expensive!
Hi Maddie. I had a very similar room on Majestic Princess but Princess hasn’t figured out the automatic door thing you just wrestle with a heavy door. Hope your cruise was as good as mine was.
Hi Bev! It was so nice to meet you in Sydney and we are glad you had a wonderful cruise. We have not cruised with Princess yet but it’s on our list.
Great ideas! I wish you had a link to the hooks. I have some, but they are industrial strength, and extremely hard to get off any surface. :)
We order the Neosmuk Magnetic Hooks from Amazon, 27lbs+. They come in different colors and in packs of 10.
Those kangaroo nails are so long. After watching your photos and videos, my favorite are penguins walking in a line they’re so funny. The koala’s look like hungry teddybears.
They are all so fun to watch and yes, the kangaroos have some very long nails! 😄
If the move up bid price is per person, what do solo sailors pay? Double?
We weren’t sure, but according to the Celebrity website, a solo traveler would have to pay double. 😕
Looks like a lot of fun! The animals are precious!
It is such a wonderful place. We love it there.
Thank you for reviewing the ship and rooms. We just got off the Beyond and for a newer ship, we had the same bathroom shower flooding issues. So frustrating! I agree with Maddy, we the wheelchair users, should be the ones to design the accessible staterooms!
Thanks for fixing some of the issues in the room for us🙂
You’re welcome! 😁
I am sad to say that I experienced exactly the same at SNCF Aprés Plus. I wish it was unusual. In similar circumstances here in the UK, I have blocked the doors from shutting. The train can't move until they move me. Such is of course illegal and causes no end of stress, but them making it your problem can only be turned around by you making it their problem... The approach in Europe is even worse than in the UK.
Sorry to hear you experienced the same. A ramp to get on and off is all that is required. It’s not like we ask that they carry anyone.
Thank you! Great idea. 😊
Great video. Thank you for the info. Did this room have a sofa bed?
We can’t remember, but if you go to the deck plan, it will tell you.
Looks great! Did you all do an excursion in rainy Sydney?
We spent a very rainy day at Featherdale Wildlife Park outside of Sydney. A wonderful day but we were soaked!
Hi! I just found your channel. I love how adventurous Maddy is!❤. My husband and I love to cruise but I agree with you that accessible cruise excursions are lacking. Do you have a list of companies you’ve found to be helpful with cruise excursions? Any and all would be great to see. We’re headed to the ABC islands next week but we’d love to cruise to Hawaii and Europe. Thank you!
We are glad you found us!! As far as excursion companies, it depends on the ability to transfer to a vehicle. Maddie can be transferred to a seat in a vehicle, so that opens up the possibilities. We use Tours by Locals around the world and have had great experiences. We have even had guides find an accessible van to use so there is not a need for a transfer. I usually search for “wheelchair accessible…..” and put in the city I am looking for. Take a look at some of our videos and they may give you ideas on Hawaii and Europe. We will always answer your questions also!
Thank you. We are in this stateroom on the same cruise next year😊 Look forward to following along.
We will be doing a review soon. Stay tuned!
Thanks for video. I’m in a wheelchair and just started looking into Eurail for a month. I “can” stand, put chair on train, and get in, but I’m not exactly fast.
You will go through the same process of letting them know ahead of time. They will help you. Happy travels!!
Happy cruising Maddie!!🎉
Marvellous idea. Thanks 🙂
Thank you for this im in a wheelchair and never cruised before im in my 40s. This was so helpful x
Currently transatlantic aboard the Norwegian Viva. The magnetic hooks (from Amazon) work a treat.
The eco breeze laundry sheets are great, dissolve fast and smell great in your suitcase.
We will definitely try those. Thank you!
Happy Trails
Thanks! It was great to meet you! Unfortunately we can’t leave the port tonight. Something about the weather.
@@wheelchairadventures8564 yes and we were 8 hours late boarding cause you were still there. Oh well the executive lounge kept me well fed and the hotel was able to give me a 4 pm check out. We are experiencing very rough seas and have been since Sydney.
I've been trying to research transportation at ports during a cruise and you are the first to mention this issue. Can you please share Amy information on how to find reliable transportation in Europe for handicapped travel? My husband needs an electric scooter to get around and cannot climb up or down steps to get on a bus. Her could stand and sit in an SUV but we'd need a lift or room for his scooter. We are traveling with a group which adds to the complications
That is a great question. It is often difficult to find vehicles with lifts in Europe, but not impossible. London is wonderful because all cabs must have ramps for accessibility. In other places it is a hit or miss. I search for “wheelchair accessible transportation” in a specific place we will be. If you are traveling with a group, is it an organized tour where the person organizing the travel can request busses that have lifts?
@@wheelchairadventures8564 Thanks for the tip - I'll try that, although I have been trying variations of it already without success. We are traveling with a group of friends - not an organized tour.
Where did you get the Guinea pig socks?😊
We got them from one of those stores that just sell socks. I can’t remember the name of it. Maybe Sox. Maddie loves guinea pigs!
Such a beautiful and spacious room.
If anything can spoil a good day, it's mosquitos! Looked a beautiful place though.
Thank you I am staying in an accessible Sky Suite in August. I am worried about wardrobe space as they tell me there is no full hanging rails -there is a shelf in the hanging wardrobe that is not removable so nowhere to hang long dresses -did you find this a problem?,
I have never had a problem with that. In every cabin/suite we have been in there is always one area in the closet for dresses. No worries!
So roomy, yes ☺
Wow, I've never heard of a beach wheelchair before. That is just fantastic, as I have a granddaughter who is a quadriplegic, and I'm sure she would love that. Maddie is blessed, and I'm sure Mum is too 🙂.
They really are wonderful! They are becoming more available so hopefully your granddaughter can try one out soon.
They did the exact same thing to me. We were told two days into the cruise that I would not be able to do the tender because I’m not able to walk a few steps. In the end, the Director of shore excursions escorted me to the tinder from the theater. Celebrity definitely has some communication issues about accessible tendering.
Agreed. Their communication and coordination is lacking.
Can you recommend a good travel agent?
We don’t use one but our friends at JJ Cruise are great agents for cruises. Other than that, we can’t. Maybe check with the BBB.
We just got off Apex last week. We also did the accessible turtle tour in Grand Cayman. Enjoyed it very much! In Cozumel, we had a private accessible van take us to Chankanaab. We will try the tour y’all went on next time. Keep up the good work. 😊
It's so beneficial to disabled people that you put these videos up. Thank you both! Have to add that the bathroom looked grubby. 😞
You are welcome! The millennium is an older ship that is definitely showing wear and tear.
Very informative.....thank you!
Does the room door open automatically? Thank you for sharing your adventures.
It did have an automatic door. We remember waiting for it to close before we headed down the hall.
Would love to see/ hear more about the shopping.
Each port had a nice shopping area. Souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, etc. Our favorite shopping was in Barbados. There were a lot of shops, variety, and the prices were good. Most shops liked US dollars. Some accepted credit cards.
