Today I'll be checking out some aftermarket bezels for G-Shock watches - namely the GWM-5610, the DW-5600, and the Casio Carbon Core Guard GA-2100 (also known as the Casioak). These bezels are not produced or sanctioned by Casio but they are definitely an easy way to give your Casio G-Shock a new look. Here's what I'll be reviewing:

The "Oak" looks amazing with the stainless bezel and the original resin strap. A lot cooler and more unique than the full stainless version. Might get this set myself. Thanks for the video!

Hey that's you! Haha. Thanks for the tip! Came out great. Though my wrist is like a couple millimeters too small for that bracelet. Maybe in the summer I'll crank it out again when my wirst grows due to the humidity 😂

I just installed one, looks awsome! I'd say the bezel is near-perfect, the band is pretty good, but getting it on is infuriating, and I've worked on watches for years. Finally had to dump the spring bars it came with and use plain 16mm ones, you can't even use the original pins.
@@joe19912 OMG seriously - I have the stainless steel band and was so frustrated I ordered my own spring bars. I swear I sat there for an hour trying to get the original ones to sit properly.

I like the 5610 mod the most. My first G-Shock as well. I have a black SS bezel I'm waiting for as well as a V1 Combi. It should look nice. I'm hoping the polished part of the bezel matches the center links on the combi.

Great vid! The bezel for the GA-2100 is the most drastic change, but I think I like the black titanium on the 5610 most. Elevates the watch without changing the overall aesthetic.
I put the 'cool black' bezel and bracelet on my GLX-5600 a few days ago and I love it so far. The bracelet seems to balance the weight of the bezel and makes for a really comfortable wear.
Nice! It's fun to try. And the best part is that if you get sick of it you can just replace the original bezel. Good times :)

The screws in the GA-2100 bezel are decorative rather than real as the hexagonal heads would not turn in the holes. Looks awesome though...
I put a used metal look metal bezel on my 5610 from AE and have to say it looks really sharp. The used metal look just works with the resin strap

Wow, the GA-2100 looks amazing, I think I'll have to buy another and do this mod.
I used a little locktite blue on the screws, mostly because I don't trust non-casio screws to stay in place.
Not kidding about the wait time; ordered two GA-2100 bezel and strap combos on 4/21, received on 6/10.
Ridiculous isn't it? Used to be a bit quicker before the pandemic, bit still...
oh yes, the gwm5610 looks really nice. if only the "protection" and "g-shock" sign were painted in white. Black is also great but I would like to have it painted.

The 'screws' on the GA-2100 are certainly not actual screws. You can't screw a hex head screw into a hex shaped opening like that.

I bought the stainless steel band/bezel combo about 2 months ago. I fitted this to my DW5600 red ADRENALINE! Talk about Terminator!😎👍🏼 They are very well made & look fantastic. Good review again. 👏🏼 P.s. I’m wearing it now🤪 P.p.s. That GA2100 looks killer!😍

The 8 points on the original plastic bezel are not left over from the trimmed off plastics. Those are the marks left by the ejector pins when the bezel is eject out of the mold.

Nice mods! I've got the negative display GW-M5610 with plastic linked bracelet (not silicone straps) from Japan but with my slowly failing eyesight (due to age) it's too hard to read unless in bright light. I finally caved and ordered a positive display GW-M5610 off Amazon, and the black stainless steel case and bracelet off AliExpress this week. I'm tempted to buy the GA2100 but am waiting to see if they release a Tough Solar + Multi Band 6 version before I order and mod one. I'm tired of changing batteries and pressure testing each time so I got rid of almost all my watches that aren't solar or autos.
Do you still have the negative display 5610 with you? Can you donate ot and give it for free for a friend here in the Philippines?🙏

Oh jeez, the metal square was pretty quick, like 3 or 4 weeks. The 2100 bezel was ridiculous. Almost 3 months. But that was also towards the beginning of the pandemic.

Casioak looks really nice! Not sure why casio hasn't made this yet. Their pricing for the stainless steel/ titanium models almost guaranteed there would be aftermarket options and these seem to be well made.
Agreed. I know that Casio hates it when people mod their watches, so it is what it is!
Always wondered... How can one tell if it's real titanium? Any thoughts?

@@SmolStufff very true; however my concern has always been that cheaper non-magnetic... and quite lightweight... alloys can also be sourced by unscrupulous vendors. Perhaps some kind of hardness test too? I'm at a loss.
@@jananilcolonoscopu4034 There's a bunch of ways. Some are destructive, like filing part of it down or putting it on a grinding wheel. Also, if you have a really strong magnet it should be attracted to steel but not titanium.
As for the polished parts of the bezels, if you were the handy type, you could do a fine bead blast on a steel bezel then send it for PVD or Cerakote elsewhere. But that would make it more expensive than buying a real full metal square, nyuk nyuk.
I’d love to see a video with your thoughts on the stainless MFG bracelet for the square!
I do have that, and it's a pretty sweet bracelet. But with my tiny 6.5 inch wrist the lugs were just hanging over my wrist. I think it's because the first link on the bracelet is pressed up against the bezel essentially making the bezel that much taller. Maybe I'll show it off in another video. Thanks for watching!
@@WatchingCasio i wear a dw5600 with a stainless case and bracelet for work..eventually that first link , after getting smashed around a bit, loosened up and the bracelet now drops straight off the lug...i occasionally drop that big pretty watch from 2 heights of scaffold just to see the look on people's faces(i'm in hazmat/demolition...the watch takes tremendous abuse, and the scratches are glorious)
@@jimwilliams9430 Holy crap haha. Yeah the spring bars they sent aren't that good. maybe try different size bars to keep it in place? That's a rock dropped from so high haha.
5600 looks the best with metal bezel imo. And im a huge fan of Casioak.

I like the black titanium best. The transparent square was my least favourite with a shiny steel bezel. I liked the original bezel better.

There are cheaper Titanium options for the square (different colors and finishes too). I am still to get a reply from the sellers regarding what kind of alloy is used.
Do these cases make the watches less water resistant?

Tell me, did you use both sets of the button stickers and bezel stickers i.e. all 6 stickers that came in the box or just one? Also, do you think the aftermarket bezel comprises the integrity of the original bezel such as shock resistance?

I did use the stickers, but I don't think it's all that important. The bezel definitely compromises things from the original G-Shock. No doubt. Still worth it though.

For which watch? Normally the case manufacturer will have the correct listing.

Might wanna put a leather strap on the Casioak.
With an octagon flush mounted head, I promise you those are not screws :). It would be a bit hard to turn them. The best you could hope for, would be bolts!

Not sure, but not that much more than resin. The titanium is super light.
Screw holes are easy to strip out? I guess casio didn't make them to last after all. My amazfit t-rex has brass inserts in the plastic to prevent the screws from damaging the plastic. And the straps are secured like g-shock g-steel watches.
The resin cases can definitely get stripped easily.

You mean the little screws? They do appeared to be screwed in, then filed down. I can't imagine you would be able to remove them. They are definitely part of the bezel, either way.

They have slightly different modules and cases.

I could understand if you wanted to replace all of the resin bands because they wear out fairly quickly. The metal bezel/resin band look is not my cup of tea. Each to his own. I prefer everything to be metal or everything to be plastic.

Thanks for the feedback. It's all in good fun. It's a common occurrence now for all packages and groceries to be wiped down. The Simpson's kinda nailed it though.
I've done a few of these kits with the SS bracelet too, they work on the GA-2110 models as well so you can add a bit more colour to the dial. The bracelets are a bit more difficult to fit than the bezels but still very doable. If you put full metal casioak into ebay uk under sold items you can see the finished product. Well worth doing.

Can't say for sure...but I don't think so. Different modules.

I had experience that when I received a watch from china my throat stared to hurt. it last for next 12 hours. I don’t know why …what it was…but it was nasty experience
When You used titanium bezel you lost the gshock resistence because titanium is a strong metal and the original instead is made with soft plastic
