To think Jeff Lynne, the one I knew the least about as a kid, turned out to be my favorite and a musical genius after I discovered ELO.

Jeff Lynne had more music in his heart than any other rock/pop artist of the last 50 years. If that makes me a fanboi, then so be it.

Seeing him 15+ times in concert, he had that warmth in everything he did. I can’t help but imagine what that angelic choir sounds like today ♥️😇

Aah... Jim Keltner, maybe one day, some one will push this man to the limelight which he has managed to deftly avoid for umpteen years... So many stars have used his skills, and yet, he has managed to avoid the spotlights! Well, good luck to you, Jim, and thankyou for your supreme talents at so many events, singles and albums for so many Stars all over the World. Please, someone, nominate him for a specialist award and star on the Walk Of Fame, which he richly deserves. Before it is too late!!

I still tear up about how they came together and left their egos outside. They honoured Roy. And sadly now we only have 3. Keltner keeps to himself, Jeff has no ego at all and Bob is only a man of words in song. In the late 80s they were considered old rockers and look what they achieved as old rockers! They were brilliant and espoused a new generation of followers. We are lucky that in my generation we were blessed with the music their friendship created.

Glad I stumbled onto this interview. I have been a huge Tom Petty fan since I saw him on his first US tour back in the early 1970's. I love the "End of the line" video but I have to admit I tear up a little when it gets to the empty chair representing Roy. It is worse now when I remember the great music from not only Roy, but also George and Tom. RIP Wilburys.

This time period in music was very special to me. Everyone of these guys were killing it!! Jeff had Armchair Theatre out, Georges had Cloud Nine, Roy had Mystery Girl, Bob had Oh Mercy out and Tom had Full Moon Fever and then they had this Wilbury’s album. Very special time for each of these peoples. They had an unspoken power structure really. If they had been like the rappers and had all formed a label together they would have been billionaires off of their material alone. I was a teenager when this happened and I had all of those tapes at the same time. Thanks for all the beautiful music guys!!

The great thing about the Wilburys was that NOBODY 'told' them what type of music to write/produce. That itself must have been such a refreshing change and advantage to have as a band. Being totally honest, I have never been very knowledgable or great follower/fan of Toms' but here, its plain and easy to see, that he was much the same as Roy Orbison. Quite, dignified, humble and basically, a nice fella. RIP Tom.

You know how you can spot Jeff Lynne's stamp on "Handle With Care?" The G+ (augmented) chord, when Roy sings, "I'm so *tired* ...". I don't know anyone who uses augmented chords so prominently, and in fact, it's exactly the same chord he used on "Livin' Thing," where he sings, "It's a terrible *thing* to lose.."

Drchainsaw77: Well spotted. When I heard it on Roy's part it sounded like a 'Roy' move to me, because he used the augmented chord to build tension in 'Crying' - released in the early sixties - so my guess is it's a bit of a nod from Jeff.
