It’s about time that Laura Dern finally won her Oscar, for some it was Jurassic Park that they saw Laura for the first time. This is just everything. Laura Dern in the same nomination as her costar from Marriage Story, Scarlett Johansson (nominated for Jojo Rabbit) and her costar from Little Women, Florence Pugh (nominated for LW). Both directed by real life couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, both released on the same year, 2019.
The people who says she didn’t deserve the Oscar are probably the people who thinks acting needs more screen time and more crying and shouting and actions. Laura Dern maybe on screen not that long but she dominates every single scene, from the dialogue to the mannerism. Well-deserved.

Lenthis Goldstein Both supportings this year were disappointing from an acting stand-point. Definite head-scratchers. Sometimes people win for being who they are, rather than the roles they are portraying.
Laura Dern's performance was top notch and her Oscar was so worthy. Brad Pitt on the other hand didn't deserve that award.

She was supposed to be this top lawyer and she came off as this rich Middle aged Beverly Hills housewife. She didn’t look professional to me. So powerful. Laura was surprisingly focused. It's amazing how many names she managed to remember! I got the feeling she was determined not to get owerwhelmed by emotions until she had said the names lol.
She just seems so REAL. She plays very strong, tough people (I’m thinking Renata here), but here it’s beautiful to see her sensitivity and the genuine love she seems to have for the people in her life. Makes me have more faith in Hollywood that the Academy awards not only great acting, but deserving people.
Now, give her the oscars she has been owed in the past from her in performances Inland Empire, Wild At Heart, The Tale, Certain Women, Blue Velvet, Rambling Rose and, of course, the film which contains what I believe to be one of her best if not her best performance ever, Citizen Ruth!

Laura Dern finally wins the Oscar and that was well-deserved but I still think Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Kidman should have been in this category too. Moreover, Jennifer was Laura's main rival in all other awards. It reminded me a case with Madonna. Some people say that her characters in Big little Lies and Marriage Story were the same but I don't think so, she did incredibly different women in both. I just would have loved to see JLo in that category.
Nora Fanshaw and Renata Klein are totally different characters, despite having bitchy tendencies. Renata Klein is actually a very insecure, defensive and deep down good hearted character who felt the need to defend her life from other judgmental women. Nora Fanshaw is legitimately a questionable person, and has absolutely no cares about hurting people whatsoever.
