  • Taking my OSB Side Tables and using Epoxy as a finish on them. My first experiment with Epoxy using my side tables that I just built! Take a look and tell me what you think about it!

    This is exactly what I want to do with some covered cat beds I’m making. I was hoping this would work. Thanks for this!

    Nice video, I am considering using OSB for cabinets and etc, especially in my workshop. I normally use only plywood but it is pricey. Epoxy would be my choice of "finish" but the epoxy is very expensive and would get me closer to plywood with OSMO costs for the final project. I need to experiment on a piece of OSB and see how much epoxy is needed per m2 for example.

    Great diy project 👍
    Why did you use the torch?

    • @making_do_
      @making_do_  Рік тому

      The torch pops any epoxy bubbles. Epoxy usually has bubbles when it gets poured. But they dont all pop by themselves so the torch helps out with that.

    I get sprinters from OSB all the time. I think I will skim coat both side and totally cover all surface.

      Sanding it helps a little bit. But epoxy is a nice way to get the OSB look to be preserved.

    I don't think you gave
    Mr Jeter near the credit he deserves for the finish !

    Did you Sand the OSB prior to epoxy?

    • @making_do_
      @making_do_  3 роки тому

      Yes I did, but honestly I wouldnt spend so much time sanding OSB. I would actually get it somewhat flat and let the epoxy level the top out itself!

    Can i use OSB with this epoxyd in kitchen

    How do you "level" it with the epoxy when you pour it over? Looks like you just use the sponge brush to cover it all. Just guesstimation?

    • @making_do_
      @making_do_  Рік тому +1

      The epoxy is self leveling. Before it hardens the epoxy it will flow to fill in gaps. The brush helps to move the epoxy around before it does harden.

      @@making_do_ thanks. If I wanted to paint the OSB, is putting epoxy.over it first ideal?

    • @making_do_
      @making_do_  Рік тому +1

      @@superduperboyx I mean I did that with this blue paint and the epoxy really doesnt do anything to it. Test it out, should work fine!

    Why not use varnish or resin?

    • @making_do_

      In my experience they take multiple coats to get a finish epoxy gets in one/two coats. Plus I wanted to experiment with epoxy finishes.

    Do you need coasters on epoxy

    • @making_do_
      @making_do_  2 роки тому

      The epoxy can get dirty but it can get washed off with a wet towel. So you do necessarily need coasters.

      @@making_do_ awesome thanks, as long as it doesn't leave a ring or cloud the epoxy. Appreciate your reply.

      I think that might be why this video has so many views compared to my other videos unfortunately haha.
