I cannot state how much I love the look of the OSB. I am in the process of buying a home that has a barn workshop on the property. There is an attic space that will become my office and I will be using this look to finish that space. It's just the right amount of classy to an industrial style to match the barn and finish the man cave. Thank you for sharing all of the details! I do agree with an earlier commenter that the redwood is far too nice of a board for the one wall. It's a great look, but it can be achieved with a cheaper wood. Then again, it didn't cost you anything!
That is going to be a very nice looking shop. Believe me when I say you cannot have enough outlets or a small enough power panel for a shop. You may only use half of them but it is nice to have one where you need it when you need it. Like the plank wall and the OSB treatment. Thank you for sharing. Take care, stay well and have a great week ahead.
Came across your videos while looking for ideas on insulation of my garage. I was planning on doing drywall, now I'm going to seriously look at 7/8 osb and how you treated it. We don't have tree lumber such as the ones you used. But we do have pallets. Thanks again for making this video.
Finally finished the video. The plank wall is just too awesome. With the heavy nails it has a riveted weathered metal look. Just love the whole atmosphere. Those side lights are a heck of an idea too.
I have been debating on what to do with my garage walls for months now. What you did with the OSB was awesome. And my wife totally liked it as well. So thanks for allowing me the pleasure to experince your build with you and learn a lot in the process. Feom the OSB staining to cuting and notching with something other than a jigsaw.
Pretty darn cool!!!! LOVE IT IM INSPIRED!! I have stud 2x6 walls in my shop and I’ve been trying to decide what to do! I have tons of pallet wood that I’ve been taking apart and waiting for inspiration! Thank you so much! I just subscribed! I’ll check out your plans! Im just starting out so I need all the plans I can get! I love mrs. mgmt and max the cat! My cat tigger sat here watching you the whole time. I bet he wants to get out to the shop too!
I found this post after independently starting to play with OSB in my own shop space. I found that sanding the OSB with 80 grit sandpaper using a pad sander and then using Rit Dye I could get a colored wall that showed the texture of the OSB. Now, I'm considering painting the OSB black first, sanding the black off, and then using Rit Dye for the color. All of this followed by a polyurethane overcoat. I plan on installing a French cleat system with a clear finish over birch plywood, enjoying the contrast between the light colored French cleats and the colored wall.
It is so good to see a post from you. I am sure that I am not alone in wondering how you are doing during these troubled times😀 I watched the whole video! On the wall you just covered , will make securing shelves and cabinets a breeze. Speaking only for myself, I have missed seeing your videos, but sometimes things out side of UA-cam have to be done. I am still trying to get started on the concrete raised beds. Because the soil around here is a very fine clay loam that is very hard to work. My plan is to male the raised beds two steps high. But we will see just how many of the pieces get cast! Our shop walls and ceiling are covered with 8" wide ship-lap that is only finished on one side so it is a bit thicker than what is available today. Again I and I am sure many others are very glad to see you posting again.Stay safe and be well.
I love the idea, I did something similar, after myself, my brother and my wife installed 3/4" hardwood flooring in our house, I had enough left over to cover two 8'x8' corner walls to hang antique woodworking tools that I have accumulated.
I love this idea. I am building my tiny cabin and trying to be frugal. I have about 16 osb boards left over and need wall ceiling and floor covering still. I think this will be used somewhere for sure!
Ended up here cuz I was looking for examples of people using OSB as a finished wall rather than drywall. I dream of one day being able to build my own home and I'm always looking for different ways of doing things that actually work. I love your results. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have seen a few shops with OSB walls, and they always looked tacky and cheap, but I really love how yours turned out. The black paint and sanding really made the random pattern pop. The ceder wall also looked great as well with the random colors of stain used. As a more affordable alternative to having a mill cut these boards for you, ceder fence pickets could also work nicely. This design will definitely be getting used in my shop.
Thank you for using the correct term 'Cure' instead of 'Dry' for your finish. I am rather pedantic about the usage of those terms, which describe entirely different processes, which potentially could lead to very bad outcomes (for example, do you want your freshly poured concrete to dry, or to cure?). And speaking of language, at around 14:55 you nicely thanked your viewers by saying "bless your heart". This has multiple meanings, and in the southern US is often used as an insult, or left-handed compliment. Of course I know that isn't what you meant, but I still found it funny. As a brit I once worked with used to say, "separated by a common language". Thanks for your content! You do fantastic work.
Wood is crazy expensive right now. I watch the commodity prices to see what the trend is. And then it takes a while for prices to be reflected at the retail level. They go up fast, and come down slow.
LOL I finished the inside of my shop with 7/16 OSB at $7.98 a 4x8 sheet 6 years ago. I thought that was to expensive. You built your house at $21 a sheet so other lumber must have been high. What happens when lumber gets back to normal prices? Will your house be worth less then you owe?
@@dontfit6380 It's a small house and we didn't go into debt to build it. I'm just saying I'm glad we bought in December and didn't have to pay $53 a sheet for it. I doubt the price will go down to $21 anytime soon or maybe ever. Most of last year it was over $40 a sheet.
@@RedandAprilOff-Grid no debt 👍 excellent! I see million dollar homes going up around me. I can’t believe they would build at these prices. The price will go down. It originally went up because of the crap government pulled with covid. Now more government BS causing the price of oil to skyrocket. The log yards are full waiting to be processed. People are finally getting tired of Covid and are headed back to work. Once production is back to where it should be the price should drop. If we could get government out of the way lumber prices would quickly return.
This looks absolutely incredible. I’m planning out a 40’x60’ x16’ shop garage. I was just thinking today what I want to do the walls in and came across your video. I’m thinking about going the first 8’ of the walls in OSB and the top 8’ in metal.
great video, love how you used the cheapest wood (OSB) and made it look more expensive the used the most expensive wood (cedar) and made it look like the cheapest wood you can get, well done ,nice project
Beautiful results, Kent... I think I'll use your OSB staining technique on my shop walls... but I'll see if I can make mine lighter in color to reflect as much light as practical. I'm currently collecting pallet wood for one wall. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea with the OSB! I've done a few creative projects with it, but the black paint effect gives me some great ideas. Nice work with the cedar panels too!
My current shop has drywall walls and ceiling. I painted the walls as close to sawdust color as I could find, ceiling bright white flat. My next shop I would like to have corrugated galvanized metal ceiling and some type of wood wall is my first choice. Should I end up using OSB I will probably paint it once again the color of sawdust. I like what you did , the plank wall is gorgeous.
the walls look great. And you can never have too many outlets. Or lights for that matter. In my shop all outlets were 4 gang outlets. I did like the wall lights too
It’s a very durable finish material but it’s very dark. A small space like this with drywall in a light color or even painting the wood a light color would bright it up and make it seem larger
osculating tools are Awesome, i am putting plywood up on my 25x30 all metal shop. i picked up a cheap hf sheetrock lift to save my back. I'm putting everything up with screws. what type of cove did you put on top of the insulation??? i would not like the dark theme but to each there own.
I love how you made the video with a slower instruction style and then a faster overview style. Great work all the way around.
I appreciate that! Thanks!
I really like the way the paint, sanded paint and poly treatment came out.

Love the board wall!
Love the different colors of the boards on the wall. Makes a very nice effect.
I think so too! Thanks!
Really appreciate the level of detail of your narration. Subscribed!
Much appreciated!

Thanks!! Take care Matt.
The plank wall is amazing. I’m going to keep this idea in mind for my back wall of my garage.
Top notch as always!
Great video. Really helpful instructions. I was able to learn a lot. Cheers from New Zealand
Glad it was helpful!
This brought back memories of my brother, dad and I putting OSB on dad's shop walls back in the mid 80's. Your shop walls look great
Thanks!!!
That accent wall looks AMAZING! Nice work.
It looks amazing!! I’ve always loved OSB. I know some people don’t like it, but I love it!!
Same!!
The OSB looks cool! What a unique look it lends to your shop. I like it.
Great eye for colours. It looks awesome. I would have never guessed OSB could look so good done this way.
Glad you like it!
Looks good it kinda looks like camo nice!
Thanks!
That wall looks absolutely amazing. Great work!
Nice touch on the OSB!
Thanks!
I think it looks great it gives me ideas for my garage

Faszinierend mit welcher Genauigkeit Sie arbeiten! Großen Respekt!
Beautiful work. Great that you are passing on your talent to others. Greetings from Ireland. Time to renovate the workshop. God Bless
Thank you very much!
Looks good. Looking forward to the awning
Thanks 👍
4:18 "I know this is a lot of work" yeah, but it's awesome to see the end result. That looks really cool.
Finally finished the video. The plank wall is just too awesome. With the heavy nails it has a riveted weathered metal look. Just love the whole atmosphere. Those side lights are a heck of an idea too.
Really love the end results. Bravo.
the accent wall looks insanely good. I like the random color really makes it stand out and coloring the screw heads was a nice touch.
Really like the finish look of this shed. Makes obs interesting

I really like that finish on the OSB. Fine job sir!
Thank you very much!
That cedar wall looks amazing. Thank you for expanding my creative carpentry eye with the OSB idea. Great video man. Keep up the great content.

Looks great, I like the warm colour the poly gave the OSB
I love it!!! It reminds me of a bamboo forest, I'm going to try it with a greenish color. Thank you for the idea!
You are so welcome!
Looks great the OSB with the paint turned out great.
Thanks 👍

You should be very proud of that shop...great job!
Thank you!
Thank you for a very inspirational video :)
I look forward to your how to video on relocation of the compressor and installation of compressed air lines in the work shop.
I was planning on leaving my workshop walls white until I saw this. Looks fantastic!
My husband painted his white and it is much brighter than the osb. This is cool looking, but the white makes it easier to see with aging eyes.

Just commenting for the yt algo. Great job! Love the board wall.
Thanks so much!
Adding the paint to the OSB made it look like it has depth to it. Looks nice.
That is looking really sharp!

That is awesome! Thanks!
great job! I wish you could add a magic eye feature over that OSB wall idea.
I love this idea. I am building my tiny cabin and trying to be frugal. I have about 16 osb boards left over and need wall ceiling and floor covering still. I think this will be used somewhere for sure!
Very nice job. You are very relaxing to listen. The new Bob Ross 😀
Thank you! 😊
Both the osb and planks came out great. The galvanized outlet covers were a nice touch.
Thank you!

Interesting look on the OSB. It definitely say "custom" vs "tacky"! Ths for the inspiration.
Thanks!
Hi just wanted to say thank you for making the videos you make. Your shop is looking great.
Excellent! So glad to find your channel.
Attention to detail. Must have. Thanks! Love it.
Glad you like it!

Awesome ideas you impart here, thanks. The wall's look great!
Thanks!
That OSB idea is great. I’ve been wanting to make a gun wall and thought about staining veneered plywood but the OSB is the way to go. Thanks!
Thank you!
Planning to use osb in a cabin. Love your ideas.
Looks like a great place to work in! Absolutely love the look of the osb!! Beautiful results!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks nice! OSB is $53.75 a sheet now! Glad we bought what we needed for our house build in December for $21 a sheet.

9 bucks in Texas now.
The plank wall is awesome. I just built a 64x36x14 shop and would love to do this to one of my walls.

Thanks! And...I never thought of that!
Looks great, it’s given my some ideas, as I too am boarding my workshop right now with OSB 😊
Thanks!
Wow, that looks really sharp! Very cool
Really coming together, looking real nice.
Thanks 👍
Really came out great. The colors are excellent, especially the cedar boards!
Thanks so much!
It looks amazing!

Thanks! Maybe try a clear water-based finish.
this looks SUPER nice
You can never have too many outlets in a workshop 🙂
Just as important is circuits. My garage is all on one circuit, so I can't run my dust collection and table saw together.
Wow that looks amazing! Great job.
This is lovely!
Wow! Very impressive! Great looking walls! Well worth the extra time and effort. I wish I had your patience. ;-)
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent craftsmanship 👍🏼
Thank you very much!
I love, love, love the plank wall. The OSB treatment is lovely as well. I may try some of this when I finally get around to finishing my shed walls. 🙃
Wow, tha OSB and feathre wall tuened out fantastic, love it! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great idea with the OSB! I've done a few creative projects with it, but the black paint effect gives me some great ideas. Nice work with the cedar panels too!
Looks great, building a new shop and was going to use OSB for the same wood look. Still deciding on the finishing, have a leading option now thanks!
Thanks!!
Love that pallet wall, impressive.
Great look all the way around, your going to love using this space.
Inspiring! Really like what you did with the OSB
Thanks!
Looks really good. It's given me an idea for what I am doing.
Looks great awesome
Thanks!
Use Tar paper behind boards... super slick look
Thanks for the tip!

That looks really cool! Gathering great ideas for future work and this is one of them. You do really nice work with outstanding attention to detail.
Thank you so much 😀
That looks awesome! Nice work
i like both walls, think i'm going to do something like this in my man cave. New subscriber here.
Thanks!!

Looks awesome. Never thought to do that with OSB
Thanks!
I really like everything you did! Great ideas!
Thanks so much! 😊
First time seeing your channel and you’ve got me hooked! Great design on the walls! Looking forward to viewing your other projects. Cheers
Welcome aboard!
I like the style a lot.
Looks GREAT brother!!!
Thanks 👍
This is beautiful!

Just stumbled on your videos. Shop looks great.
Thanks and welcome!
