So good! Chatter and Advocating are distinct yet both using your voice. Chatter is speculation without relationship, while advocating is engaging people through relationship of people from different cultures.

Great conversation 👏🏾In discussions like these, it’s so easy to center individualized experiences of racism, either out of frustration, anger, or exhaustion (all of which is very valid) but can also miss the bigger “God” picture. I’m so glad there was repeated emphasis on God’s desire for and purpose of revealing his glory not despite our differences but BECAUSE of them, and how uniquely he’s tethered those differences to make us one.

This was really good, something that’s been a continuing passion in my heart is unity of the body of Christ ❤. It hit me hard to hear Sunday morning is one of the most segregated. We need to love ALL our neighbors. So good the scripture and sub-topics y’all discussed. Ty!

this came up in my search..and its quite good content, Thanks.
We are working on ways to reinforce teaching our kids to be confident in who they are and how much they're loved by God and us (myself and my wife). As a Nigerian family living in Canada with 2 kids in "christian" elementary school and we also attending a "diverse" church I have come to a sound conclusion that ethnic and racial biase is not going away until Jesus appears, giving how certain situations have been handled by the school and the church we attend. As a result, the other day my wife suggested we find a church that's same culture as ours but we are still praying and waiting it out to ascertain God's wisdom on our journey. We've been living in this country over 7 years and respectfully making adjustments especially as we grow in its culture and we also appreciate the fact its not comfortable being of a different ethnicity in a place, but personally at 40 and going strong in our knowledge of the Lord, and in our marriage and carriers we really don't have time to waste "hanging out" with people that we sense (as per how they see the world even though they're believers or presumably so) are subtly disrespectful when in our proximity. This happens most of the time.
We don't know it all, and that's why we do not want to make any hasty decision until we are 100% sure what God wants us to do. We've also lived long enough to understand the dynamics of prejudices and how it can terminally affect a people when they respond wrongly to it. But yeah ethnic and racial prejudice is real and the church is still on a journey calling it as it is. God bless you guys.

I think that racism is just one of the reasons why there are so many different denominations, although there's more to it than that, what's happened is over time we tried to be so much like the world to better appeal to it, and as a result, it's drifted us farther and farther from God's love. Why is it that whenever someone asks if we're Christian we always answer our denomination, instead of showing them the fruit and character of a true Christian? Where are the leaders who aren't fearful of persecution, even early Christians weren't afraid to die this is why even if they hate me it won't be because of Jesus it's because many still listen to their flesh, and give room to demons. We clamor for miracles, signs, wonders, gifts, prophecy, and yet we forget the one who gave us it in the first place it's time we stop acting like baby Christians and really start acting mature especially if we've spent much of our lives in the church. it's time to not just hear the word but live it out. It's time to stop playing church, and actually be it.

“Have a multi-cultural church where everyone looks different but we’ve all agreed we’re going to be this culture and leave our culture at the door”……..
….ya know, while the bigger “multi-cultural” churches have benefits such as missionary departments, childcare, etc, the price to be paid is usually having to accept the “vanilla” type of music, teaching, and preaching, and I think this is why the church is segregated.
For example, churches like Bethel, UpperRoom, and Jesus Image don’t sing any traditional gospel songs, ever!! If you want to be part of their church, then you’re going to have to be okay with their style of worship. And the same goes for predominantly black churches, which is why you’ll rarely see a white face in the place. Worship “style” is a huge reason why Sundays are still the most segregated day of the week.
