    Very nice of you to put your mistake out there for others to learn from. That's very respectable👍

    The one on the bottom is for driver side, the one behind the stereo is for passenger side....but its great that you posted to investigate before you tear it apart.

    Make sure you do a reset on the blend door motor after install by pulling fuse for at least 1 min. 2009-2010 fuse 15, 2011-2014 fuse 46

    How's it going Captain I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you for making this video. Man of all days for the heat to stop blowing had to cut a fool on a 42 degree day. Never the less I watched three videos and everyone said pretty much the same thing so after educating myself on the task I was ready but something fell in my spirit and said check out this short less than 2min video and my Friend am I glad I did. You not only explain the same information but added a critical step in the process. And all in less than 2mins. My friend you are my "AVERAGE JOE HERO of my day. Thanks

    Both are subject to going out. It's just a matter of time so it's not unwise to go ahead and tackle the bottom one while you already have part of the dash apart.

    Haha. I thought the same thing and even had the center console out and was preparing to dig deeper. But, after some further evaluation, I found that it was the top actuator that was bad and not the bottom. Top is an easy and cheap fix. Thank you for others!

    Good video! Just to let y’all know, I have to change out the temp blend actuator (the top one) every year in spring in my f150. Changing from heat to AC multiple times a day wears them out. Wether poor engineering or cheap parts, like it or not, it’s gonna happen. You’ll either hear it clicking or it’ll get stuck on heat. If this happens to you, I’d say 90% chance it’s your temperature Blend actuator! Thanks again for this video, I’m sure your headache saved hundreds!

    Upper one is Passenger Side. Lower one is Driver Side. You can diagnose that without taking anything apart. You can replace either motor without removing seats/console/etc... Just dig around on YT and you'll find some videos to help. I replaced the Driver Side motor in ~15mins of work.

    90% of the time it's the upper actuator. I just installed my new upper today. I'm a big ole boy, my hands are huge, there's no way I could get to the pain in the butt rear screw that behind the actuator. I pulled the front screw out, broke the eyelet off the rear( cheap plastic) then unclipped the actuator. I still couldn't get the rear screw in. I tightened the front screw, electronic connector, and left the rear screw out. The device tightened down fine, installed the dash, reprogrammed the new actuator, and life is good! No more clicking!

    • @labelmeaking9408

      How did you reprogram the actuator

    • @bfm2472
      @bfm2472 3 роки тому

      @@labelmeaking9408 Easiest way is to watch the video. He explains it well towards the end. It has to do with pulling the fuse, waiting a few seconds, then re-installing. Sorry for the short answer, I can't remember the steps off the top of my head.

  • @mkent95

    were you getting low flow? mine clicks sometimes at startup. I have really bad flow. tried cleaning it no dice isnt plugged up or really dirty. I can change all kinds of settings I get no flow and it wont do the noise every time it starts

    • @TheMillhead
      @TheMillhead  3 роки тому

      No flow, because the servo isn't redirecting the air where you want it to go.

    Okay I have a 2012 f150 fx4 with the regular climate control but a flow through console and regular radio. My issue is I have HEAT and I have AC I’ve changed the resistor twice because the first one fried. Then I changed the pin because it burnt up. Now I’ve changed the blower . But now I have little to no air come through any of my vents. It changes modes and I can hear it and feel it but it’s just really weak any ideas? I cannot for the life of me figure this out and it’s about to be summer In Oklahoma

    • @gagerogers5472
      @gagerogers5472 2 роки тому

      All vents have air coming through and the modes definitely change. But it’s just really weak and the blower motor is running 100%

    Hello, so I just got this 2011 F150 from auction with the clicking noise. AC is blowing only through the defrost. I changed the door actuator which is located right above the gas pedal. The clicking noise went away for one time, the modes were working.. the passenger side temperature is blowing both heat and cold air and the DRIVERS side is blowing only cold air.. then later when I turned on the truck the clicking noise is back again. Which actuator you think it is.. the top or the bottom.. thanks

    • @mikewalker4062
      @mikewalker4062 6 років тому

      Bottom motor is the drivers side. Top motor is for the passenger side. Assuming you have dual zone climate control.

  • @e.b.6766
    @e.b.6766 3 роки тому +1

    That sucks… all that work for nothing. Familiar with the process; removed the dash on a Titan for a blend door actuator replacement. So, I know your pain.

  • @michaelserna15

    or just stick your head under the dash on the passenger side while its clicking

  • @ronc4146

    I have a 2012 FX4 with Nav + flow through console. At 101k, the 4 center console vents stopped blowing A/C or heat. Windshield defrost vents, foot well vents, side front door defrost vents and cooling system for both front seats all still blow A/C, but the center console does not. No infamous "clicking" sounds from one side or the other of the dual zone system (Driver, Pass), and no other warning. Both sides of the center console just stopped working. Of all of the Ford "blend door" videos I've found, none address this particular issue. Based on your personal experience with this, any idea of which (or either) of these 2 actuators is to blame, or something else (stuck piece of foam in door(s), etc).....?

    • @RayKotara
      @RayKotara 7 років тому

      There is s third motor on the left side of the big box connected to a long rod that moves the vent positions between floor/mid/upper etc... If those dont change when you change the controls for that, seems to be the one. Since your post is two months old, I'd guess you already figured this out.

    • @ronc4146
      @ronc4146 7 років тому

      Ray Kotara yup. It was this motor that gave out (the one just above the gas pedal), which is apparently the most rare one to give out, but also the easiest. Changed it out & I'm golden now. Thx. (***mid-2022 update - now the very bottom one is clicking. That one is supposed to be a real joy....not)

  • @tylermcdowell6084
    @tylermcdowell6084 7 років тому +1

    95% of the time it’s the upper motor, if your passenger side vents are stuck on either hot or cold it’s the upper motor, the motor is 40 bucks, takes an hour to change

    • @tylermcdowell6084
      @tylermcdowell6084 7 років тому

      Brent Murray if its manual controls there’s only one behind the radio

    • @tylermcdowell6084
      @tylermcdowell6084 7 років тому +1

      Chances are the gears aren’t striped on the actuated that’s why there’s no clicking, it’s the tracking arm on the actuater, either way it will be that actuater
