- Sky Sports presenter David Prutton sits down with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna to discuss his coaching career, what led him to Portman Road and the current, excellent form of his side.
Ipswich fans, let us know what you thought of this feature-length interview in the comments!
Who else should we interview on the League Of 72 channel? Let us know!
#LO72 #ipswichtown
This man will go right to the very top in football.
He really will have a stellar career.
Hopefully with us.
He seems wise enough not to jump into something like the Spurs job and get shafted by big club politics like those there
He might be in with a shout of the Celtic job this summer.
@@ADEOLADEEBOno chance, Ipswich are bigger than Celtic
Thank you Jose for giving him an opportunity to be a coach
Not only a wonderful interview and insight but also I want to say how good the interviewer was. He was so genuinely interested and gave Kieran all the time he wanted to answer the questions. He didn't just sit and nod like many do, neither didn't he hurry to get to the next question. Two very intelligent men having a relaxed, in depth and fascinating chat. Kieran is so humble but at the same time so assured and confident. His self belief gives us all belief in the future of our club.
Great interview, finally a bit of insight into my club and how Mckenna has run things and his history as a player/coach/manager. Don't forget that Sir Bobby Robson taught Jose who taught Mckenna, so good to see things go full circle in some ways. UTTB, we've got great things coming! 🚜🔵⚪️
Got a soft spot for the tractor boy's , i support stoke i enjoyed my day out dispite a defeat the atmosphear was still good and the ground as a certain charm to it ,
All the best this season and indeed gone full circle hope you get see some success after a depressing time of it
Great to watch again 4 months later. A great season and the best football played at ITFC in years.
Thank you Mr Ashton for bringing this great coach/ manager & lovely man to our club👏
Top class interview. It is difficult to get across to non-Ipswich supporters, just how good a job he has done. We have been lucky enough to have Ramsey, Robson, Burley and now Mc Kenna.
The club was in the wilderness when Marcus Evans was owner and he didn't seem to care. I don't think McKenna will be at Ipswich for the long term but am confident he'll leave the club in a better state than it was in when he joined.
@@geoffpoole483 Depends how we quantify long term. My view is he will be here as long as it takes to stop improving, which is five years for me, and then it just depends on what the factors are at that time.
Cannot say anything else because it's all been said. Kieran McKenna is an excellent man and the manager of Ipswich Town.
great interview
great to meet Kieran McKenna
a young manager who will certainly be in the big leagues in the future and I believe with Ipswich Town
At last, the Ipswich content I've been waiting for 💙
Brilliant interview. I hope this man brings back the good times for my club
Class act, good luck to him.
Brilliant interview, I can see keiron being a future England manager , but he s got to stay with us for at least 5 years lol 🔵⚪️👍
probably be asked by his nation first
@@welshwizzard8209 that is a good point , but I would imagine he will be offered bigger jobs than Northern Ireland, no dis respect to them , but you might be right m8 👍
If he manages United First. Its a possibility. But I think his big dream is to go back to United as Manager one day. I could be wrong.
@@STST 100% agree with you , be shocked if that isn't in his contract , I just hope he is at our club long enough to get us as far up the pyramid as he can before he goes .....
@@Jules551 I personally hope/think his main objective is to get Ipswich to the prem and establish themselves. Then a move to a top 8 team. Then United. He's so young I think he can give us 5 or 6 more years before he moves on. It would be beneficial to him.
The most genuine guy I ever heard speak, I hope he is with Ipswich for many years to come
Excellent interview. Kieran exudes a quiet confidence - he is measured and modest in what he says, but you can just tell that he knows he is going right to the top in the game. I just hope that ITFC can provide him with the support and success to match his ambition, enough for him to stay here for many years. That would mean getting back to the sort of success we had under Sir Bob. COYBs.
Ipswich's best assst. Let's hope we can keep him.
RIP 🪦
Really well done. Compelling with lots of great detail.
BTW who is the interviewer? He's fantastic. Looks familiar, though ... is he a former player?
Great mananger and really good interview thanks
Top notch interview 😍😍
That’s my gaffa! 🔵⚪️ Class interview conducted by both men
@DailySwan - are u Alex Griffin's mate ??
As a Wednesday supporter, good to get an insight on another manager in the league. Us, Ipswich, Plymouth, Derby and others have all got some good up and coming managers, think this is what is making the top of League One super competitive this year! Think Ipswich are on a roll with 6 games to go, they're now the most likely to get promoted, a lot down to McKenna's work...shrewd signings in January, even managed to keep Luongo fit!
This comment has dated pretty well....but everyone underestimated Plymouth. Ipswich could get 100 points and 100 goals and still not win the league!
Fantastic, Uppa Towen en
Impressive interview - clearly an intelligent articulate coach who should have a very bright future you would think. I like his humanity - similar to Eddie Howe.
What a guy ❤️
A very enlightening interview giving a insight to why he is such a fantastic allround coach and man manager.
KMc is a class act. I hope Ipswich can keep him until we get back to the Premier league.
This was an incredible interview by both these guys. Brilliant and thank you.
What a great interview this was. Wish Kieran all the best in his career. A real sensible approach and clearly highly skilled.
Weve got super Kieran McKenna
Good 2 see a young hungry manager get his flowers .RESPECT
Mc Kenna will eventually end up back at Manchester United as manager you can be sure of that
Back in the prem 🎉🎉
this guy is gonna come to united isn’t he!😂 actually excited for it though.
It would be a brilliant solution. We need a manager to rebuild United from scratch.
Kieran will be the next Manutd Manager..
You're probably onto something.
Hopefully
Maybe one day but not this year or not now.
He has done really well, maybe the N Ireland manager one day!
As. Chelsea fan I hope you stay with Ipswichand reward them with the opportunity and confidence they have shown in you. Teach clubs that buying people like you shouldn’t be on offer because you with make Ipswich the best. Chelsea and the like need to like inwardly where along term performance is concerned. Good luck to you Kieran 👏
Im so pleased for the supporters of the Tractor Boys. After years (possibly decades of being in the doldrum), they finally have a side to be proud of and a manager that represents them. The two east Anglia derbies would be fun to watch this year...and with some investement in Jan, Town supporters may well be reach the promiseland. Lastly, I am particularly pleased for McKenna as him and others in Ole's coaching staff were widely ridiculed in spite of him( Kieran ) being highly regarded by United's first team.
2 decades. I was watching us in Milan in 2001.
Brilliant manager in every aspect.
#coyb #itfc
Excellent interview,
Spoke to him the very first match pitch side
Confident and seriously committed
We have had some great managers at ipswich and he could well be amongst the best
I'm in love with you Kieran McKenna.
All the best :)
Was here, after Kieran McKenna been linked to be the next Manchester United manager, potentially replacing Erik Ten Hag
I think I’d rather have McKenna than ETH! How about you?
I just hope we keep him!💙
I here because of Chelsea
Same here 😂
He's a Manchester United fan though

Excellent
great interview#fp
This man became a celebrity in 3 days LOL
BTW, I love N. Irish English dialect!
one of the best. united manager soon
The Xabi Alonso of English football.
Is Mckenna a former charismatic top player ?
Were Ancelotti, Fraudiola, Morinho, Arsene all great top charismatic footballers? 😅
And now they have qualified to the premier league :)
Welcome as Man United’s new manager.
Welcome to Chelsea
He looks very hungry and comfortable with young players....
I see him at United.
Watching him after Ipswich promotion to the epl..
Chelsea fan. To be honest I had no idea that Kieran worked under Jose. I was a little concerned about him taking the Chelsea job, but this has definitely removed that concern. If he decides to take the job, I just hope that he insists of being his own man and not just a yes man, because we've suffered enough already with managers finding out that they were nothing more than a trainer who picks a team.
Once you have a Director of Football in most clubs that means the coach is ....the coach. Only English and Scottish football still refers to them as 'Managers'. Considering that their jobs depend on recruiting the right players I am surprised more coaches don't insist on having the final say in transfers but that isn't how it works these days for the most part.
Am here because of my club Chelsea
No
Top manager
Ok let’s learn about this guy
I came here too, to know the guy bcoz of all the rumours around now
Same
Any advice to start my manager career journey at a age of 16?
Don't bottle titles
Can he get a player or two on loan from Man United? would help
What a manager COYB
He’s done a wonderful job so far but he’ll know more about himself when he goes through a sticky patch. Everything has aligned for them this year but incredible job. No doubt he’ll get job offers but I wouldn’t be in any rush to leave Ipswich, sometimes some managers just suit certain clubs. Take nothing anyway from the job he’s done though
Next United manager
Will it be with Ipswich Town or Manchester United?
Next Man Utd manager?
Likely
Counter attacking football and relying on individual momments chelsea can have him i rather take de zerbi 😂
Am her for chelsea
Well Spoken , if Man U owners want a British Manager this is probably the guy , upcoming.
Dedication in spade loads.
Another Tottenham progidy thrown away at the wrong time. Good luck to him.
should replace Ten Hag
ill take De Zerbi pls and thanks
😊
This aged well
Who’s here after ten hag won the FA vs city?!
What a crap interviewer who stops at nothing to interrupt the interviewee before he finishes answering a question. How he gets interviews is beyond me. First and last time I will watch this guy
I don't think Les Ferdinand is actually a Knight of the realm. It's a nickname 😂
Welcome to Leicester
11:57 is it?
Sorry, Chelsea, he's a United fan.🤦
Who’s the interviewer?
Is it David Prutton?
@@hamishgale5081 That’s it! It really should be a standard thing to include in the description. Thanks @Hamish Gale
get this man back to United
coming to chelsea lil bro
@@tosexe2535nope
@@tosexe2535now look here son, he will 100% be at United. I will bet you a tenner.
True bottler
Looks and talks like a schoolboy
Don’t want him anywhere near my club
Which club do you own?
He talks from his experiences, views and at times his soul, yet I did not here him once speak narratives, as the weakenst managers do. I hope he does not go to toxic Man Utd, as that club has destroyed many managers confidence and visions. It would be better to let him stay with Ipswich and see how high they can get in the Premier League first.
He thought Ole hsd done well at utd. Clearly lacking ambition.
He might be a nice guy. That is not synonymous with leadershi.
I think he's right. We all have our different opinions when it comes to Ole.
1- 90% of the fan base wanted Jose out at the time(maybe you were one of them)
2- The plan never was for Ole to be the manager, he was supposed to come in as caretaker till the end of the season and move back to Molde. So he came in to help the club. Because of his good start as caretaker, 70% of the fans wanted him to get the manager job (again, you might have one of them, idk) which was not a bad thing at the time. The club needed some stability at the time.
3- None of us knew exactly what these guys had to deal with while they were in those positions. Jose only spoke out after he left, Ole will never say everything because he love this club too much, he'll take most of the blame.
4- Not Jose, Not Ole got the players they wanted. If they did, it was 1 or 2 out of 10.
5- Moyes, LVG, Jose and Ole were restricted in every way possible to do anything because the club was ruled by dictatorship in Ed Woodward. Everybody knows this.
6- I think Jose is a good coach, LVG is good coach. I also think Ole is good coach. The only difference amongst all of them, Ole didn't come there with a good pedigree, he never managed a big club before Man United. Nobody knew much of the coaching he's done before his appointment as Manager of Man United.
But as I said, we all have our own opinion.
@@gavinbooysen1966 I think I could agree with all of that.
In the end none of them were supported properly the glazers. The only hope we have now is that ineos.make a difference.
On that basis we should give both ineos and ETH next season to prove themselves.
Besides, there is no obviously better alternative out there right now.
Celtic???
any single girls watching this
32:37 not unheard of in England, rare, but Kenny Dalglish got the Liverpool job when he was 34, it was his first ever job and at the time, Liverpool were the dominant force in England and Europe.
As an Ipswich fan I'm pleased that as yet he hasn't shown any signs of being a complete and utter bellend like Mourinho!!
