That thing looked gorgeous. Dutch ovens outside and my Skillet on my Camp Chef table it's because I love cooking Outdoors it does not have to be BBQ every time. And on top of that when you do go camping or hunting the experience at home cooking right girly makes it amazing. I enjoy watching your videos. Mrs. Backwoods is lucky you pick that Hobby
I enjoy your channel very much. I've learned lots. May I help you this time? A little flour on your counter to be able to lift the dough, Use a rolling pin to move the dough from the counter to the pot by rolling the dough onto the pin. Once you had the dough to the size you wanted it would have been best to re-chill the dough before topping your pie. These tips would have made both your top and a bottom crust much easier for you and neater as well. However, the flavor is what matters most and I am quite sure that pot pie tastes amazing!
Loved the video, hope to one day have my own place to do more cooking outdoors. It’s all on Kamado Joe right now. I am jealous of the winter weather u have in Florida. We were just in the Clearwater area last week.
When you announced that you was doing chicken pot pie in a Dutch oven, I was wondering how you were going to " serve it". That was not what I expected! That was pretty amazing how it stayed together! Another saved video to try! Thanks
Yeah that looks great . Too hot for me to cook outside unless its a quick Burger or steak . But come October I will once again try to make some dutch oven recipes and this one will be on the top of my list.
👍 No problem using ready made pie crust anytime. Neat video and soon when the weather gets cooler, this recipe is a winner for comfort food cravings. 😁🇺🇸
I know you want to demonstrate the complete cooking process but I have the habit of cooking 2 packages of chicken thighs so I have leftovers for several future meals. The pies I’ve cooked have always had *smoked* meat from my stick burner and that leaves a light smoked flavor in the pie, really tasty! I got the Lodge Sportsman Grill several months ago, because I’ve watched your other videos using it. The next pot pie I do will be with some chicken leftovers from the LSG. The smoked and seasoned meat from my smoker leaves a light, unique flavor. The grilled meat from the LSG should be every bit as good.
I loved it great job by improvising, way to keep your head cool with the crust, you make me laugh! I will give this recipe a go. used my new dutch oven to fry some fresh brook trout it turned out great over some camp fire coals. Thanks for your videos.
@@BackwoodsGourmetChannel Thanks, but I'm asking about the stand the Dutch oven sits on, that you put the charcoal under. In your video it's sitting on top of a Lodge table. There's a good view of it at 3:21 min. Thanks.
I wouldn't have given you any carp about store bought crust - I would have done the same, but you brought it up, so why didn't you make it fresh?!!! I have also learned to watch your cooking videos on a full stomach. Nice job!
I've been cooking 35+ years. I'm as dedicated to "homemade" as anyone. BUT....I've never understood the bias against store-bought crusts. Crusts are 4/5 ingredients: flour, water, yeast, salt, oil. IMO there's little reason to go to the extra trouble making your own, especially at deer camp and other places away from home. Find a good refrigerated pre-made brand and make life a little easier!
One of the best recipes I have found to cook in an oven. Thank you.
LOOKS GREAT my friend
That looks like a nice hardy fall cool weather meal.
Great looking dish. I'm going to try this. I really like the idea of black eyed peas in it.

Not to Worry Lt. Dan will end up with Magic Legs! It's such a good movie! As for chicken pot pie, well that is just plain Good Eats!!!
In spite of everything, great crust. Hey its called cooking! I was raised on the less firm interior. So I like that too. Thanks for this.
Looks like you nailed it. I like the thicker consistency also. Nice work.
I would eat that pie any day of the week buddy. Thanks for sharing.
Another good job..going to have to try this.
That looks good

I had peas but mine had black eyes. Thanks for watching.
What size dutch oven did you use here? I have a 10" 4qt. Would the measurements in this recipe work for that size?
He said a 10". Looks like a shallow, not deep pot. Probably a 6 qt.
Great channel! Can I ask where you got the grill stand to set the dutch oven on?
Right here on our Amazon Store http:amazon.com/shop/backwoodsgourmetchannel
@@BackwoodsGourmetChannel Thanks for the reply but I don't see it in your store.
amzn.to/2HCG2Ih This is the Lodge Dutch Oven Table.

Pro Tip.....Don't crust the bottom, and use some bisquick on the thinner side and just dump it on the filling like a dump cake, with coals on the lid.
What about old mountain pictures cast iron

I my try this one. And there is no shame in store-bought pie crust.
Flower the table, flower your hands.... Flower is no-stick
That looks good but add a tsp of minced rosemary and a tbs spoon of basil and it would be slamming
Should have put flour on the table so the dough wouldn't stick.
Not sure that you can call it mirepoix without some pepper in it.
Refrigerated pie crust? What the hell. No respect. Oh wait, I would do the same. A lot simpler and looked like yours turned out great. Thanks.
Oh my. That might be illegal...
Only in Socialist Countries.
Right. Let’s just hope that ain’t us in the future... keeping cooking and spreading common sense and values
Hey don’t be knocking kfc
coarse.
Sorry you lost me with the ALUMINUM FOIL!
