It's not that people can't afford it. It's that these vehicles offer very little value in the long run. Price gouging ain't gonna cut it. It's just another deadweight vehicle that isn't even that reliable pass the manufacturer warranty.

Among several pages of legally binding conditions, was a new advisory (threat?) about what would happen if l put a lithium powered bike in my home / garage. I will not be surprised if my policy next year includes EVs.

I recently bought a Blazer EV and a new Silverado in the same week. I would not buy a truck without a V8, fairly simple. The Blazer EV has also been the biggest POS I have ever owned, currently talking with an attorney.

Mother still drives her 2015 compass with over 250,000kms on it with zero issues and loves it....she keeps up on maintenance and hasnt had any MAJOR issues with it just the usual suspension parts and general maintenance.i never understood why ppl hated on them so much there great vehicles....the ppl who crap on them either never owned one or only seen and heard from ones that were owned by ppl that dont actually care or maintain there vehicles and treat them like crap

The real purpose of the EV with limited range is the government limiting the mobility of the people. Same with the degradation of air travel, train travel. Easier to control the sheep when you can fence them in.

Where are the REAL trucks? 2 door, 2 wheel drive, bench seat, V8 engine, 8 foot bed. The sort of thing that people used to use as pickup trucks. You could carry three people in them, and a huge amount of stuff in that 8 foot bed. This 4 door, 4 wheel drive, 4 bucket seat, 4 foot bed GARBAGE is pretty much completely worthless as far a truck goes.

EVs are a terrible match with a general purpose vehicle in the western US due to distances, and even worse in or near Western Canada, due to distances and temperatures. For an urban grocery getter, they would work (at half the price), but you need to be able to charge at home for them to make any sense at all. For a pickup truck, driving across Alberta? If you buy an EV, you've failed basic math.

I was lucky to buy the last reasonable price truck, a Sierrs 1500 Elevation 4 X-31 with the Duramax diesel engone back in early 2022 for $53530. It's quite welle quiped, and the Duamax is great engine. Now the same truck is around 12k more expensive.
My home did not cost as much as these trucks, my home brand new was $83,900 dollars, sorry but I refuse to pay that kind of money for a truck that will wear out and depreciate. My home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with 2 car garage.

Well I’ve currently have a 24 trailboss with the 6.2 gas coming out of a 23!Trailboss with 3.0 diesel-even after 3 months thinking big mistake-fuel mileage went from 28 to 17 to 18 on a good day-diesel pulled better with very little shifting-example pulling 3500 lb load home with on good hill both manual mode with 9th gear diesel wouldn’t shift down 6.2 drops 3 gears and now running at 4000 rpm’s-than there’s that cylinder deactivation BS that I can feel plus see the tach dancing around so the work around is to keep it in 9th so it doesn’t do it-by the way the mileage was keeping it in drive so 10th gear was available
All these over $100,000 dollar trucks, they can keep them I will stick with my 2023 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4x4 that was overpriced at MSRP $34,000 dollars but I purchased it out the door with trade in for $14,000 dollars and paid it off in six months and is now paid in full.
I find it difficult to believe that not even one single person in the government, or even one manufacturer ever realized that it took the oil and gas industry 100 plus years and countless billions of dollars to create the infrastructure for ICE vehicles.
Mary Barra gave herself a 25 million dollar raise. She should give it back, but she won't. The prices of the new vehicles are out of reach. Those vehicle are going to rot on the lot... Hey I made a ryme, Rot on the Lot. In the electrics, EV's are not going to fly. Price is one thing because they are making them too technically electronic. But the other factor is there are few charging stations for long trips. Other than TESLA's charging stations that have worked well, The after market charging stations either dont work, wont take your money, won't let you on the app or are at reduced charge rates, if they work at all. It's a disaster. The hybred, like the car the VOLT was, run on battery, in the city, run on the gas extender on the road. It gets 300 miles per about 7 gallons of gas folks. How did Mary Barra decide to kill the VOLT, then again GM killed the EV1 as well. They don't seem to like electrics or cars that were working well. The car that will advance will be the hybred, built to perform like the VOLT DID. It is the only one that makes sense. The EV's well ROT IN THE LOT just like the over priced new vehicles of ICE fame. They need to sit down at the thinking table and work this out or they are gonna be losing dealers, and when they happens, they are done.
Lower prices. Make a basic truck with a V8, no AFM, not all the electronic gadgets. Get rid of Barra, make dealers stop gouging people & harness the UAW.
I spend about $400 a month in repairs for my 2006 Powerstroke. It's still more affordable than a new truck. Eventually it will be a new truck again. I'll keep driving it.
Don't forget that due to the amount of battery fires going on, most insurance companies will either not cover you or will make you pay 10x more for both car and home owners insurance just because you have a plug in hybrid or electric car/truck.
A year ago, sitting around the lunchroom table a (young) colleague determined that he was all-in on a GMC truck as the re-payments were just about affordable. He mentioned that he could get both the twins car seats in the truck and make trips to Home Depot all at the same time and in a safe vehicle. He's a nice guy but without much real life experience, I told him the reality of stretching yourself to thin and the additional pressures it brings to families. The Sierra is a nice truck, but totally unsuitable for someone who doesn't have a revenue generating business. I told him to have a look at the totally un-sexy Honda / Toyota minivans. ........the other day he offered to buy me a beer as the Odyssey, in his words, is one of the best discission's he ever made
I got a one owner 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 w/Crew Cab & Short Bed & 5.3 Engine for like $33k I think it was before taxes & extd. warranty. Had 91k miles December 2023. I wouldn't buy a brand new car/truck.

I work at the plant that makes those hd sierra and silverado. We were supposed to have extra week of during Christmas for retooling....today we find out that gm wants to cancel the downtime due to high demand. These trucks are so awesome I can see why they sell so well.
But the Hemi has a fantastic reputation and is the best modern V8 engine. I didn’t know the hurricane is going to be an inline 6. That makes me a little more happy about it. Still prefer the Hemi though

Sound like at the right time. I bought my 16’ Sierra 5.3L for $34000. No it’s not a 4x4, but I don’t need it or the maintenance. It looks just as good as the GMC’s I’m seeing here.

Mother still drives her 2015 compass with over 250,000kms on it with zero issues and loves it....she keeps up on maintenance and hasnt had any MAJOR issues with it just the usual suspension parts and general maintenance.i never understood why ppl hated on them so much there great vehicles....the ppl who crap on them either never owned one or only seen and heard from ones that were owned by ppl that dont actually care or maintain there vehicles and treat them like crap

I don’t think he was saying they are crappy, I think he was was comparing them to other vehicles in its competition class. For the same money you can get a comparable vehicle for much less money. Jeep is highly overpriced, and don’t get me wrong. I love Jeep. They are iconic, but not buying one.

The real purpose of the EV with limited range is the government limiting the mobility of the people. Same with the degradation of air travel, train travel. Easier to control the sheep when you can fence them in.
Marry B was always and remains a DEI hire. She has entirely and intentionally set EV goals that were never realistic. As a Tesla stock holder, it was obvious she wasn’t being honest. And Tesla has enough problems as it is. There cars are way to expensive to buy and have insufficient range. They are expensive to repair and hence insure. You’re not really saving any money, but buy whatever you like.

Where are the REAL trucks? 2 door, 2 wheel drive, bench seat, V8 engine, 8 foot bed. The sort of thing that people used to use as pickup trucks. You could carry three people in them, and a huge amount of stuff in that 8 foot bed. This 4 door, 4 wheel drive, 4 bucket seat, 4 foot bed GARBAGE is pretty much completely worthless as far a truck goes.

Have fun at the fast charging station for a pick up time is money. I drove the mach e and charged it 8 times to go from Az to California. Not all chargers were fast. And if they are still 1hr to charge. In the valley the chargers are always full. I had to wait
EVs are a terrible match with a general purpose vehicle in the western US due to distances, and even worse in or near Western Canada, due to distances and temperatures.
For an urban grocery getter, they would work (at half the price), but you need to be able to charge at home for them to make any sense at all.
For a pickup truck, driving across Alberta? If you buy an EV, you've failed basic math.
Ronnie Dahl has an excellent YT channel about all things related to four wheeling....yeah, he's from Australia, but the same basics apply to anyone in the U.S. buying an EV truck. Especially a 4x4, and in the Western half of the country. Complete, major, total mistake. EVs are limited range urban grocery getters. Period. Even then, I wouldn't have one as a gift. And I'm Green. EVs are about as “green” as Ben Carson....😂😂😂😂

I was lucky to buy the last reasonable price truck, a Sierrs 1500 Elevation 4 X-31 with the Duramax diesel engone back in early 2022 for $53530. It's quite welle quiped, and the Duamax is great engine. Now the same truck is around 12k more expensive.
My home did not cost as much as these trucks, my home brand new was $83,900 dollars, sorry but I refuse to pay that kind of money for a truck that will wear out and depreciate. My home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with 2 car garage.

Well I’ve currently have a 24 trailboss with the 6.2 gas coming out of a 23!Trailboss with 3.0 diesel-even after 3 months thinking big mistake-fuel mileage went from 28 to 17 to 18 on a good day-diesel pulled better with very little shifting-example pulling 3500 lb load home with on good hill both manual mode with 9th gear diesel wouldn’t shift down 6.2 drops 3 gears and now running at 4000 rpm’s-than there’s that cylinder deactivation BS that I can feel plus see the tach dancing around so the work around is to keep it in 9th so it doesn’t do it-by the way the mileage was keeping it in drive so 10th gear was available

All these over $100,000 dollar trucks, they can keep them I will stick with my 2023 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4x4 that was overpriced at MSRP $34,000 dollars but I purchased it out the door with trade in for $14,000 dollars and paid it off in six months and is now paid in full.
I find it difficult to believe that not even one single person in the government, or even one manufacturer ever realized that it took the oil and gas industry 100 plus years and countless billions of dollars to create the infrastructure for ICE vehicles.
They realize it, and they don't care. The government will pay for it with our money, no matter the cost.
I'd be curious of the dealer add-ons with those vehicles that make it more expensive than it should be.

The after market charging stations either dont work, wont take your money, won't let you on the app or are at reduced charge rates, if they work at all. It's a disaster.
The hybred, like the car the VOLT was, run on battery, in the city, run on the gas extender on the road. It gets 300 miles per about 7 gallons of gas folks.
How did Mary Barra decide to kill the VOLT, then again GM killed the EV1 as well. They don't seem to like electrics or cars that were working well.
The car that will advance will be the hybred, built to perform like the VOLT DID. It is the only one that makes sense.

I spend about $400 a month in repairs for my 2006 Powerstroke. It's still more affordable than a new truck. Eventually it will be a new truck again. I'll keep driving it.

I bought a Chevy Bolt EUV 2023 and canceled my truck order. I kept two of my gas powered pickups. I’m waiting for a new electric Tahoe.

Don't forget that due to the amount of battery fires going on, most insurance companies will either not cover you or will make you pay 10x more for both car and home owners insurance just because you have a plug in hybrid or electric car/truck.
A year ago, sitting around the lunchroom table a (young) colleague determined that he was all-in on a GMC truck as the re-payments were just about affordable.
He mentioned that he could get both the twins car seats in the truck and make trips to Home Depot all at the same time and in a safe vehicle.
He's a nice guy but without much real life experience, I told him the reality of stretching yourself to thin and the additional pressures it brings to families.
The Sierra is a nice truck, but totally unsuitable for someone who doesn't have a revenue generating business.
I told him to have a look at the totally un-sexy Honda / Toyota minivans.

I work at the plant that makes those hd sierra and silverado. We were supposed to have extra week of during Christmas for retooling....today we find out that gm wants to cancel the downtime due to high demand. These trucks are so awesome I can see why they sell so well.

I think your pricing problem has more to do with Canadian taxes than the actual products. That baseline GMC can be bought for around $40K in the US
But the Hemi has a fantastic reputation and is the best modern V8 engine. I didn’t know the hurricane is going to be an inline 6. That makes me a little more happy about it. Still prefer the Hemi though
