Older sister is Hikari (meaning light in japanese) and my dad wanted us both to have some natural source of energy in our names. So I got named Mio (written with the kanji "beautiful sound"). Sooo light and sound. Lots of Mio's in Japan but rarely with my kanji ☺️☺️

Uh, I'm not sure if anyone in the comments has explained this, but what the saying 'Riding dirty' means is driving in a car that has drugs or guns in it. Police officers are always 'trying to catch me Ridin dirty' so trying to find drugs and weaponry in the car.... so yeahhhh *scratches head* 😅

My names pretty weird. TyQuria. Ty from my dad Tyrone because I'm the first born. The Qu from a woman named Queenie who helped my mom a lot during the pregnancy, and the Ra the fit it all together. But the Ria is part of my legal name because my dad actually spelled my name wrong so instead of TyQura it's legally TyQuria. Ty-Cure-ra.

Can you guys do a lunch break about age gaps in dating. I have lately been seeing a lot of relationships where someone under 22 is dating guys in their thirties and wonder what is the mentality is between the younger person and the older person. I think love is love but can't help but think about it.
My first name is Kadri but my parents decided to call me by my middle name my whole life. Not sure why but it is what it is! One day i asked my dad how he came up with my first name and he jokingly said that he smashed his head onto a keyboard.

I was supposed to be named after my mother but a month before I was due my dad decided he didn't like that. Therefore, my mom sat on the couch and watched the TV show "True life" and there was a girl name Amaya and she really liked that name. My mom is known for wanting to be different, all of my sisters have different names too, so she didn't want to go with that spelling. On American Idol, there was a contestant name Amya and she liked that spelling, so my name ended up being Amaya spelled Amya.

Story where my name came from. I asked my mom one day what the meaning is and she said she got it from the Bible! Since my whole family are Christians! Also my English assignment was to find the origin of my name which I found out that it's a type of Hebrew tree! I asked the same about my Korean name and... same response! 😂😂😂 I think it was last year, I finally found what my Korean name means from one of my friends and coincidentally, when Buzzfeed did a video on the origin of their names for Asian Pacific American Awareness Month one of them had the same Korean name as me!

My name the whole time my mom was pregnant was Bernard-Angelo Ilagan Venua, but then I was born and while signing the birth certificate, they realized they would have to teach a 4 year old how to spell this name. My parents were into studying different cultures, and my mom really wanted my name to start with an A (yes, we are Asian, lol), but she wanted a "unique" spelling for my name, so she went with the French version of Amy/Aimee. As for what I'd name my kids, I too liked the name Aidan and Christopher, and if I had a daughter, I'd name her either Akane (after the Ranma 1/2 character) or Amelie (after the French film/character). My Name is derived from my Mother's name. Her name is Ramona, which was followed by her nickname, Monina. She only changed one letter to create my name, Monica. So I'm named after her.

My German dad lived in Russia & read English books. When I was born, he remembered a characters name from an English book & called me Ellen (not famous in this English 'version' in Russia at that time). In Russia people call me Ella because they don't know the name Ellen. Here in Germany my name is easily remembered & called a beautiful name. I would never change it because it's from a book & my dad gave it to me ^^

My whole family has the name "Catherine" and everyone wanted me to be called Kate but my mom was a rebel and named me Kitty. Everyone was pissed. They even spelled it differently than it is normal in my country (they spell it "Kitti"), so all I remember from my childhood is getting mad at people for not spelling my name correctly (It is still one of my pet peeves).

My parents named me Angela because they were like "angel-a", we'll have such a great kid, which isn't too far off from the actual meaning of the name. I think they also got it from some book of names. But then, they realized there were a LOT of little asian Angelas running around. My dad hated how I wasn't "unique" enough, so when I was 3, they went to court to legally change my name to Patricia. And that's been my name ever since.
Asheley also looks like a Samantha AKA Sam. Like the character from Danny Phantom.

Originally, my dad wanted to name me Leah (after Princess Leia --from Star Wars), but then my older sister said he should just put a T in front of the Leah (since my immediate family members names start with T). So it became TLeah [with no hyphen]. I love my name and won't change it, besides when ppl can't pronounce it I just used my Princess Leia example and they usually get it.
When my mom was in labor at the hospital my dad kept on saying "breath- Breath, honey" to help distract her from the pain. One of the doctors walked in while the baby birthing process was at play and said "what do you want your child's name to be?" My dad disregarded the questions, still yelling "BREATH". The doctor soon left the room thinking he heard the name "R-E-I-D"; When I was born, the doctor came in again and said do you want it spelled "Reed or Reid". My mom and dad looked at each other confused. The doctor repeated himself telling us he must of misheard the name accidently. My mom looked at my dad for a quick second, and repeated the word "Reid" ,that's it! Both looking back at the doctor in compliance, "Reid; it's Perfect!"

My grandfather's name was Luis Fernando, his last name Martínez. He went to Russia and he liked the names, so he named both of his sons with russian names; my uncle is Boris Igor Ivanovich Federico Martínez, and my father is Frederick Alexander Orloff Martínez. My father said he wanted his first son to have the same name, so my name was Frederick Alexander Orloff II Martínez. Then, because of a bad relationship between my grandfather (never met him, he died before I was born), my dad changed his last name. Since "Orloff" is actually a last name in Russia, his name is now Frederick Alexander Orloff I Orloff, and I am Frederick Alexander Orloff II Orloff. We are all from Colombia BTW

My grandfather actually named me. When I was born, my grandfather told my parents to name me something short and simple (especially when written in Mandarin). And I don't know if they were pulling my leg, but my family told me it was because they heard a bell go off so he decided to just name me Ting. So now I am known to have only two words as a full name which is not common at all for a chinese.
Then my family tried to give me an English name by calling me Vanessa. I was Vanessa for at least 5years but had to be changed to Melissa because they realised I have the same name as one of my cousins!

There was a baby name book used, in attempt to get ideas. My parents had set aside two names for me - a girl name and a boy name - for they wanted my gender to be a surprise. Originally, I was led to believe that I was named after the actress Lauren Bacall, but I later learned that Lauren was my mom's idea and that it was one both my parents mutually liked. I actually was almost named Morgan, but that together with my last name would have rhymed with a certain type of cheese, and they wanted to spare me any name-calling.
My name is Kendelle and my parents got my name from their high school classmate who was pretty and overall a great person. She ended up becoming a cherry blossom queen or princess.

My mom found the Vietnamese name "Phuong Tam" in a poem and liked it and was going to name me that, but my dad didn't want me to struggle with a Vietnamese name no one could pronounce, so instead Phuong became my middle name and Tam became my first name. But my mom liked the ending sound of "cutie" like the "ie" sound because it sounded cute (lol). So she combined it to be "Tam-ie". Except it's spelled Tammy.
When my parents came to United states, they had the option to be called different english nicknames. Then, my mom had the option of Winnie, Shirley, and Melanie. Since it was a lot easier for my mom to say Winnie, she called herself that. My auntie was already named Shirley as her English name, so by default, I was named Melanie.

Woah!!! Whaaaaat?! MY name is Philip Andrew! That really weirded me out, Chris! But, now I think I feel flattered. Haha! When I was a kid, I meant another kid named Andrew Philip & thought that basically made best friends. The friendship did not last however.
I was named Elizabeth because no of my parents thought of "good" daughter names, and my cousin suggested Elizabeth. He said that he got to know many influential and beautiful Elizabeths during his college time in Stanford. My dad took his suggestion to mind, because his favorite college is Stanford. My Chinese name is 高路, and it literally means high way. He named me this because he wished that my life can go smooth.
I actually never really liked my name, but as the years went by, it just grew on me. Good thing I seldom go to Starbucks because hardly anyone writes it correct, despite how straightforward the name "Freeman" is.
As for the story, my dad wanted all the men in the family to have "-man" in their name. My dad's English name (1 of 2 of his names) is Sherman. My brother's name is Norman and I'm Freeman.
My parents were deciding between Kathleen or Kathryn, but my dad didn't like the idea of my mexican family calling me Kathy (strong mexican accent). So at the hospital they had a cool nurse and her name was Caitlin, and my mom's previous boss was Kaitlyn so they they decided they liked that better and named me Katelyn. They also had the idea to name me Francesca (Frankie) as a way to incorporate my grandpa's name Francisco but didn't like it after all.
