As far as keeping a Betta fish with shrimp, it really depends on the better. I’ve had several beds that loved tanks with shrimp and never bothered them at all. I even had shrimp babies and the beta didn’t touch them. However, I’ve also had a couple of Betta that ate every baby and even adult shrimp in the whole tank. He was ruthless! If your set up is working, I say more power to you. I love the idea of having shrimp and better together as long as the bed leaves them alone. Also, I know that sometimes shrimp will just hide when there’s a predator in the tank, but yours are not hiding which tells me that you’ve got a good match there.
5 gallons is the perfect tank to start with! I started with one when I got back into the hobby a few years back. A shrimp and betta tank. I was lucky enough my betta was shrimp safe.
As someone getting into the hobby I found this video super informative. I'm currently freestyling with all my builds but am trying to take as much info on board as I can! Good luck with he shrimp though, my Betta destroyed the ones in my tank 😅
I'm sure you know but with the Pinnatifida you can also treat them as an epiphyte and glue them to wood and rocks. Once they are established if you cut them a short pretty aggressively it gets super bushy or leave it and it gets quite long and "stemy".
I can conclude that lower light would give a superkick growth for the plants, wouldnt it? I had betta and shrimps in a tank year ago, they were pretty chillin, keep the betta since it was still young so it was not aggresive😅
I have 3 male long fin bettas and they all have 5 gallon setups. Although I have larger tanks too, I absolutely love my 5 gallon tanks with my bettas. Your tank is beautiful, and I really enjoyed this video. We get so many videos on scaping large tanks, so it was fun to see someone scaping a smaller tank and for a long fin betta. I laughed when you said the anubia nana leaf was a bigger leaf than the other leaves. If that crypt is wendtii, the leaves on it will get much bigger. When I first saw the crypt it looked like lucens, but you showed it again and it was more brown than lucens, so curious to see what it turns into. Have you tried crypt parva? It is a tiny crypt and I have it carpeting part of one of my 5 gallon tanks. I really like it. Your betta is stunning too. I have neocaridina shrimp in 2 of my 5 gallon tanks with my bettas with no issues. My neo shrimp are also reproducing like crazy. In my red betta’s tank I added amano shrimp which are larger because he was hunting my neos, and time will tell if that works. One of my bettas with the neocaridina shrimps hunts the babies and probably gets some, but his fins (he is a double halfmoon) slow him down so he doesn’t get many. The shrimp population in that tank is over 200 and I have even pulled the off colors from that tank and put them in another tank. I am trying to keep all the shrimp true blue dream color because they match the color of the betta in that tank. I have small baby L134 Leopard Frog Pleco in the tank with my red betta now to let him grow a bit. It is an interesting combo because the betta is blood red and the Pleco is black and white striped. The Pleco will be in there until he gets a little bigger and then I will put him in my bigger Pleco tank with my breeding group of L134 Leopard Frog plecos. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
nice build, I actually just got 2 betta for 2 separate shrimp tanks, one doesnt and hasnt cared at all never even struck at one, the other new girl I has taken several strikes at some but the shrimpies are too fast so far lol. I think she will give up as she continues to get feed on other foods and realizes their hella fast XD. Only adults as I moved them over from a different tank recently but as they breed, I don't expect high baby survival rate due to her behavior so far
Thank you! Yeah pretty much every short fin female that I have owned has always taken jabs at the shrimp. The long finned males specifically never seem to care haha!
I had a betta in a 10 gallon with 3 amano and 12 cherry shrimp. All was fine for a year. Then the cherries had babies. I guess the betta must have tasted a baby and decided shrimp are delicious. Within a few week, my shrimp were all gone. Then the betta got swim bladder issues. Now my tank in empty. I don't think I'll ever put a betta with anything other than snails ever again.
Hey man, love the content, but I actually have a question regarding your cube desktop tank. What light are you using for it, and how many watts is it? Just bought a uns cube to do my own!
Looks good, personally I use ten gallons as a minimum for bettas. If I could find 15 gallon tanks that would be the minimum for them for me. I just got a 20 long so I can expand into different species
I live in indiana too! so sad it got cold here right when i was thinking about ordering plants from etsy :c Did you get your floaters from a lfs? If so where can i find them :3
I’ve always wanted to have a betta tank. But im not yet ready mentally and physically. Still, your videos makes me want to have one even more. With your guidance and wisdom. Hopefully, few months from now I can have a my betta tank set up. 😭🥹💕

Betta, or better? Make up your mind.
100%! I'm super lucky to have a chill fish. All of the other short finned female bettas that I had were savages though!
Awesome looking scape and wonderfully shot. Great work with the lid design too.
another video on the desktop shrimp cube please!! :)
I'll see what I can do!
Something about that betta just pops so beautifully in this setup 💛
It was a nice sharing my friend, regards

😊
Luckily this one has been super chill as well. Same can’t be said about all of the short finned female betta fish that I have had. Super aggressive😂

Looking amazing. The videos you shoot are all composed so beautifully. I'd love to be on that artistic level some day
Thank you so much!
Hey! I was just wondering what you do for a living cause your sure are good at videography.
I'm sure you know but with the Pinnatifida you can also treat them as an epiphyte and glue them to wood and rocks.

Heck yeah! Might do that in the next video. Would like a variation of Both.
❤❤❤

Such an awesome video dude! Makes me want to rescape my 10 gal 🤔
Thank you! This is your sign to make a new scape 😳

Lots to admire here. I especially like the creative "work-around" for the lid.
Thank you man!
@@WorldofWhasian My pleasure!
Exquisit plant selection!
Thank you!
That’s an awesome scape. It really makes the most of the small tank.
Thank you!

Totally agree on the name…horrible. Mustard gas was monstrous. I prefer the larger tanks.
