i have fond memories of martin he was living in salford in the eighties he attended mass on a sunday at st boniface but because he had a match on the saturday night he would always attend mass on the sunday but would be exhausted one day me and my mam went to mass she was a good friend of martins and hes wife rita who by the way was a tiny woman we sat on the end of the bench me and mam and martin was at the other end we watched the service but the church bench lifted off the ground he had fell asleep but the weight of him lifted me and mam into the air at the other end of the bench anyyway we laughed at the time it was funny but martin loved church and went every sunday my mam called him the gentle giant rip martin and rita

Wrestling was predetermined, not fixed. You go to the cinema and know you are watching actors, you do not bemoan that the film is scripted. The difference is when things get dodgy, wrestlers do not have the option of a stunt double.
Martin was such a brilliant heel.. especially his interaction with the crowd.. he had that intimidation that Brody had.. IRL a lovely clean living family man

Big Daddy's was above the Dolcis shoe shop. In the early 1970's Shirley Crabtree sold the Big Daddy's club to Paul Mountain and he renamed the club "Clarence's", Paul put on live bands on Friday and Saturday nights. I spent many enjoyable nights in Clarence's in my younger days. In the mid '70's Mountain changed the clubs name to "The Good Mood", the "Mood" closed in March 1979 due to the floor giving way, the result of Punk Rockers pogoing to their favourite bands. The club premises were bought by Dolcis and they used them as a warehouse for storing their shoes. Dolcis has since closed and it's former shop is now a restaurant. There are no longer any shoe shops on Lower Crown Street but the local "shoe shop street" tag has remained to this day.

Big Daddy was often arrogant and rude off stage. I know that as I were a ring builder, and seen his behaviour towards people he never even knew- who only wanted to meet him and shake his hand.
As i can see whoever said that great Haystacks was 6'5" and only 450 need to have their eyes checked. Obviously you can't see how big this guy really is. That's 6'11" and between 640 to 675 lbs of man and muscle..... Burly muscle. People built like that don't look like they weight as much as they do. A fat slob that doesn't exercise or lift any type of weight for even toning reasons will "look" like they weight more than they do. The average big man can't bend a horseshoe the way Giant Haystacks did.
Lol he was actually 6’8 in his prime. As he got older like in this video for example, he is 6’7 1/2 at the most. And I doubt he weighed 640-675 like ever. He looks 560 in this video can’t see it being more. Picture big show next to this guy that’s interviewing him. Show would tower him way more than this guy (haystacks) especially towards the end of the interview when he bends a little. Big show just wouldn’t look that short next to this guy doing the interview not even close. And he was 6’7 if lucky at the time of his death, most likely in the 6’6 and a half area though.

Check him out next to 6'4 john quinn, just barely taller. check him out against kendo nagasaki and akira maeda... these guys are in 6'1 range, and haystacks had 3-4 on them at very most. Besides, he only looked 6'4 next to 5'10 gary lineker in a tv show. And need i tell you that haystacks had boots in all these comparisons?

Donna Odonnell. By all accounts, despite him playing the heel in the wrestling ring, he was a very nice man. Born in Ireland and a committed Catholic
