Played the baddie and did it in style, as others have said a total gentleman met him with my father outside Battersea town hall (Wrestling venue) Just a polite nice guy. RIP thanks for the lovely memories
Miss those days so much .Haystacks wrestled in Morecambe a few times really should of gone to see him .He used to pop in a friends butcher shop in Morecambe.
i remember this match - the commentary stopped at 4:00 because the production crew ran from ringside thinking that Haystacks might crash out of the ring!
at 5.55 you can see that haystacks is telling marty right make it look good for a few mins a very nice guy outside the ring was haystacks very unlike the man in the ring we all see very soft spoken guy went to church every sunday
I heard that. But in the ring he was a bastard. I'll never forget him saying 'no more mr. nice guy'. To think he used to be Daddy's tag partner previously.
Remember in the late 70s as a schoolboy watching Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy appear at the local Civic Hall unfortunate referee got into the wrong place at the wrong time and with sandwich between haystacks and Daddy. The St John's Ambulance had to stretcher him out the ring
Genial este gigante gordito pero agil y rápido para su tremenda humanidad . Genial época de la lucha libre fue en esos años y luchas más reales. Saludos desde chile un fans de la lucha libre mundial or siempre.
I remember this one. Jones must have been mad getting in the ring with this huge bulk - a risk to his career. Poor third man in the ring - Gordon Pryor. Haystacks was just a filthy, fat cheat! Never did any real wrestling.
@@rickrick5041 Although Andre was billed as being well over 7 foot, I think they were both about 6'11 peak height, though Haystacks had clearly lost a lot of height by the time he appeared in WCW.
@@rickrick5041 It's quite common for someone to lose a little height by their late forties, though a loss of several inches tends to be something which occurs later. I think taller people tend to be more prone to height loss, but probably the biggest factors here were his great weight and health problems🤔

Not bad Marty played to his strengths and they worked a simple but effective psychology, you get the big man down and wear him out he loses.
Good grief, the ring really did move 6 inches at 6:52

That's a small freaking ring! Miracle it didn't collapse!
Giant Haystacks aka "Loch Ness" in WCW.
RIP 🌈💐🙏🏽
6:05... Jones goes to that huge gut and chin and softens up the huge slab of beef in corner... Giant gives AND takes it like Champ here

Forget XL, his shirt size must have been 'sofa'!
Unlike today’s wrestling, when they say the ring moved.. it actually does in original British wrestling!
Must be uncomfortable being 45 stone

That ring announcer has a hell of a jacket.
That's Big Daddy's little brother Max.

Met Haystacks when i was around 13, shortly before he died of cancer.
I had forgotten all about "public warnings" ! How quaint !
That did a lot

I love how the commentators play along with the choreography and deliver serious comments as though it were a genuine contest.
