    Ty..if you havent already....you should plug your furmans (and computer etc) into an APC battery unit which is then plugged into the wall. Much better safety with surges than just the furman..and also keeps your computer on for 10 minutes or more in case of power failure. The prices range but generally anywhere from $200 up will serve your studio well for years. Mine finally needs to be changed out soon...lasted more than 7 years already.....

    Good video. A few suggestions.
    1. I have the Apollo X6 and UAD recommends to keep a rack opened above the X6/X8 for them to breathe.
    2. You also chain the Apollo Twix to the X8 for more i/o.
    3. Have you considered a Patchbay to make routing more flexible?
    4. Have you considered a bigger desk with more rack space so your gear can be up top in front of you to make it easier to reach all the knobs?

      1. Meh.. Ideally yes. But I don't have anything crazy above it. It's simply a power conditioner, not some expensive piece of gear that could get cooked!
      2. Yes I have them linked together already, so I have those extra ins/out if I need them!
      3. I had a patch bay before, but most of my stuff just stayed wired in at all times. The only thing that might change on a fairly regular basis is my 1176 and LA2A. But I honestly needed that 1u space that the patch bay took up for other gear lol. I need to expand in the near future anyways, so when I do that I'll probably implement my patch bay again.
      4. Yes I have, but I'm also a big fan of simplicity. I don't like a lot of clutter on my desk. It's simply a personal thing. So having my SSL controllers and Apollo Twin on there is enough. Having the gear directly to the left of where I sit doesn't bother me in the slightest. Again, maybe in the future my thought on this might change, but for this current time, I like what I like haha!
      Great questions though! Thanks

    Dope rig man. I just stumbled upon this video and I’m assuming you’re a hip-hop producer/engineer because I have such a similar set up and mentality. It’s awesome to see haha. I am also rockin the API 512s, an audioscape buss compressor and a second neve-style buss compressor (HA successor), one for mix bus and one for various other applications just like you described. Just 2 different flavors and more versatility. I am obsessed with the SSL fusion lol…. I know I will eventually cave but I have an ultraviolet EQ in my 500 series rack for now and I agree and that air band absolutely ROCKS. I almost got the Stam for the mods but didn’t wanna deal with the wait and not enough space in my 500 series rack for a G comp. Reallly hellbent on eventually adding a 1073 if I can ever expand my 500 series setup...You know how that goes😂. Totally 100% agree with your mentality on the 1176 and LA2A combo as well. I approached it the exact same way but in my case I just went with a Distressor and an ACME audio Opticom XLA500 (soooooooooo underrated it’s scary) to cover as many bases as possible and I love all of it. But I’m totally on the same page as you bro it’s really inspiring to see. I recently picked up some gear from SPL including a vitalizer Mk3 and the BiG 500 series module, and a looptrotter sa2rate 2. My goal is to slowly replace a lot of my favorite plugins and emulations with dedicated hardware where I deem to be the most important areas of mixing and especially tracking. My routing situation is so similar too haha. I’m constantly swapping, juggling and daisy chaining but such is life in a compact project studio. Can’t wait to expand, really awesome to hear about your setup and process man, that got me super inspired! Just subbed!

      @@hockeytalk6084 haha yeah you’re right, the majority of stuff I do is hip hop, RnB, pop for the most part. And that’s awesome we have similar setups! Sounds like you have a sick rack! I’m jealous about the SPL stuff! I’d love to get some stuff from them in the future. And thanks for supporting the channel bro, I really appreciate it and glad you enjoy the content 🙏🏼. All the best to you, my fellow gear addict! Haha

    Gear videos are always interesting to see.
    I wish I could justify the cost of more gear, but I kind of believe that what you do is more important than the gear itself.
    I love having physical gear, but software is so convenient and much cheaper.
    My last purchase was a Korg Monologue, but I'm wishing I would have gotten the Arturia Microfreak instead.
    Also had one of my KRK Rokit gen-4's start to die because of a common capacitor failure, and had to buy a replacement.
    For interfaces I started with a Gen 2 Scarlett 2i4, and in my other studio I have a gen 4 Scarlett 2i2.
    I've noticed some odd behavior with the gen 4 where it's inputs will appear different in my software on Linux.

      Yeah I think there's a time and place for both plugins and hardware. And trust me.. I get the financial struggle of gear 1000000% lol.. I'm personally just a fan of the hybrid workflow for where I'm at in my career. But there's no right or wrong, just what ever works for you!

    Hi nice Channel and hello from germany. I am a guitarist and getting more and more into homerecording.
    This is a serious question
    When you use hardware in your chain … how does the the daw „save“ the hardware settings? Do you record the track a second time?
    And the use your hardware for example again for another track with other settings??
    How does that work?
    Thanks man

    Is there any way to only use one of those Neve 500's?
    (It seems like it's just a double expense - how would you use it with just one?)

    • @TyDanelley1
      @TyDanelley1  2 місяці тому

      @@paulgreblick you could use it on mono sources. But the main thing I wanted it for was for stereo things, like my mix bus or drum bus. So for that main reason, I knew I wanted two. Then you can also use them on separate mono sources if you want as well

    • @paulgreblick
      @paulgreblick Місяць тому

      @@TyDanelley1 I know, but I'm not as advanced as you, and I can't see using separate settings, so it seemed like a waste for me in the stage I'm learning - is there a way to create a mono insert on the mix bus? Or is it automatically going to force a hardware insert to be stereo?
      (Thanks again.)
