It is a nice machine for sure. Easy to use and covers a lot of ‘ground’ in a short amount of time. Easy to transport as well and cheap to operate (fuel). If it ever gives me engine troubles, then I’m hoping that would be a relatively quick fix also. Thanks for watching.

Light works great. Nice and smooth-it just looks like it’s blinking in the video due to the camera settings (if that’s what ur referring to?). I’ve since hooked up the second light on the front (where you see the wide halogen) and it works 100% as well. It gets dark here at about 4pm in the peak of winter so I’m using it in the dark a lot. These lights sure do help. Tks for comment.
I saw the halogen on front & LED on top. Figured 1 of them was added by you. Why a halogen? Only thing you had handy in the shop/garage? I have these on my fork lifts at work & let me tell you they'll light up the area very well & far. Liteway LED Pods, 8x70W Triple Row LED Light Bar 4 inch Spot Flood Combo Beam. Had a large skid steer in a while back to clear snow & I was lighting up the area for him because his halogens just didn't compare to 2 of these mounted in front of the fork lift. The 'flicker' you see is the pulsing of the current coming from the engines' magneto. LEDs are instant on/off & that's why cameras pick that 'flicker' up. I notice it too, but in peripheral vision in real life (not from a cameras view. Same with the headlights on my Jeep in a dash cam recording. Hope all this helps or at least gives you ideas to make it better & safer. Very nice video!
Its not the camera setting. Its blinking, the camera picks it up, the naked eye doesn't, until you wire in a rectifier to properly convert the ac to dc, its gonna blink and eventually will burn out.
Great video. I was Leary when this model came out. Have not yet until today seen a great video on it. I was worried as I thought the 13 hp engine would be insufficient for the size of auger an cut. I have used a snow blower for over 35 years at my home. When the banks would get so I couldn’t see at the end of my driveway I would go borrow my brother’s skid steer or tractor w/loader to push back the banks. A state of Maine native who lives in SE New Mexico now so have to deal with the desert dust now.

bravoone17 yes it is. I’ve taken the bottom shield off and cleaned it once or twice and replaced the friction wheel a month or so back just to give me a fresh start to our long, 6-7 month winters

rick hilliard when you pull on a lever (levers on both sides), then that pulls a cog out of a wheel that drives that particular side. That leaves only the other side driving the machine so it naturally gravitates to the side you pull on the lever. (That’s the best I could do lol - hope that makes some sense anyways)
Hi Chuck, I was .00003mm away from buying one of these big machines. I ended up buying the next size down and I find it so difficult to use (just a little guy) depending on the conditions. Icy or really sluchy snow I find I have to man-handle it to get the job done even though it has individual drive for each wheel and its quite tiresome. I plow with ATV but eventually I have to get the blower out. Perhaps the extra two tires make all the difference? I have to pick it up to turn 180 degrees efficiently and its quite heavy. The reverse is just too slow to avoid turn around all the time. Do you find it difficult to use?
It is very easy to use but the reason why that is because our snow never gets slushy. Our temps are very cold so there’s literally no melting for months. For this reason the snow stays clean and much easier to blow👍

But there are a few other companies that sell Cub Cadet machines, and one of them have Cub Cadet 945 SWE in stock, and also snow chains to this model, as far as I understand...... could give you some phone numbers/company details, if you have a way I could contact you... cheers.

He also does custom, and I felt the multiple items I purchased were of fair price, considering quality, packaging, shipping time, and support. It's worth checking out at least.
zmanvideo1 it’s about 150-175 yards long. I also use it to my driveway/parking lot at my house and that’s about 50 yards x 20 yards. It clears snow really fast and effectively. We do have an advantage here tho, as our snow is rarely ‘clammy’ due to very cold temps. I just took off the carb two nights ago as a regular maintenance practice and it runs even smoother now.
wow, that is one long driveway, no wonder you need such a beast of a blower! love the dual tires on it, your home driveway is quite long as well, I have a single driveway that is about 12 feet wide by almost 30 feet long, I only use an ariens single stage, works quite well, good that you cleaned the carb, I love those old Tecumseh engines, I also couldn't believe how easily you loaded/unloaded that blower onto your pickup!
I have essentially the same thing, 14 hp tecu on a 36". And it seems really overkill for anything I have thrown at it. The extra width looks to work it hard but doesn't seem under powered really. I could see that unit being intended more for soft powder on sidewalks given its width, and the 13 hp would have good economy for just that. But it also looks quite at home with the thick stuff too with how high its shroud goes... And to add some perspective, my father inlaw uses a 48" PTO powered 2 stage on his 16hp ridem tractor and does foot deep powder on a 350 ft driveway with out too much fuss.
Now you just need to add a Bridge rectifier to your electrical to properly convert the engines AC to DC for the LED bulb and you'll be set, to secure the electrical. Its not your camera, once you do that, the blinking will go away. Also the blinking cant be seen by the naked eye, but it does cause a glare effect in the eyes if you look at it for to long, like a strobe effect, especially for anyone who has to stand in the lights path.

That's not old ! I have a 1970's Ariens that I retrofitted a 16 hp Kohler to it and it eats snow like no other. I would love to have a machine like this, I have a 25 HP 2 cylinder Onan looking for a new home and that would be perfect !
Lol - many people have noted the "blinking light" - however, the light works fine in 'real life'....it's the camera pick-up that's actually making it appear to be blinking
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors no you really do need the rectifier, thats why its showing up on camers, it wont once you install the rectifier, also you'll be protecting your electrical since you are currently running ac to a bulb that is supposed to be using DC, you should do the research real fast. Adding a rectifier and capicitors is not difficult.
Martin Marsh pretty good but undoubtedly better with the powder we normally get. Only thing is, if you blow the wet stuff, you better make sure that it is blown off of ur roadway cuz when it lands it packs solid in seconds lol
Put yourself an impeller kit in there it and it will even throw the wet stuff far enough. I have a 30inch 11.5 craftsman that I did the to and I can't believe the difference. Great video.
Chuck Porter - Everything Outdoors ya, some 1/2" rubber mud flap cut to fit the 2nd stage impeller and scrape the round housing will make a difference! Of course pull the plug before starting the build. Google "snow blower 2nd stage mod". It may cost $30 and maybe 2 hours. 20% better throw, less interior accumulation, less blockage, and greater ability to move slop. I'm off a state highway that uses beet juice, heavy salt, and other chemicals to combat hours of plowing, and the mod made the first 25' of my driveway manageable compared to miserable and shovel only!
More horsepower is always needed. If that thing had my 25 Hp Onan on it, you could turn the blower and fan faster, then you can increase the ground speed. I'm a horsepower Junkie so I know I have problems !
At the time, the Tecumseh 358cc 13hp was as big as they got and were the last of the Quality built winter engines. Now they go to 420cc at around 15hp, their also bigget and heavier but also made in China by Briggs and clones. Most snowblowers didn't need anything over 13hp since 36 wide is typically the widest, this is about the only exception and the 13hp 358cc Tecumseh still seems to fair well on it.
As those say when the model of snow thrower first came out as a dually when those were leary of the amount of power it offers to the width of the swath it cuts when it would be capable enough to clear a moderately to a large driveway.
Kenneth McCann yes happy to report gas expense is not much of an issue really. Filling up a tank is good for quite a while. I can do my house driveway 2-3 times or do my cabin driveway/parking lot on a tank (much more than you’d burn in a vehicle with a plow or loader contract). Am planning to do a followup video within the next couple of weeks.
Good as this may be it is not 4 wheel drive and will not outperform a true 4 wd or a track unit, simple mechanics and physics. Does Yard-man call it 4 wheel drive? If so they are mis-leading the buying public, in fact it is a dually.
Hank Henry you are correct. I realize I should have been more specific and said that there are four wheels that produce traction, and not truly a 4-wheel drive.
Yes a plow is definitely convenient as well. I had one for 8 winters and it served me well. However, I always found it a struggle to stay ahead of the snow clearing as we get no thaw whatsoever, and, given the fact that we have 6 months of winter each year, the snow compounds greatly so it leaves a person with no place to push it.
I also have a truck with plow. I want a snowblower that will mount on my truck so I don't have to clean the dirt off my lawn every spring. I have a tarred driveway, but the last few years snow arrives before the ground freezes.
The caretaker across the street had one for his apartments. Did not even last a whole year! He said everything was worn out. The MTD snowblowers are made very weak, I worked at a dealership so I have a bit of an idea! Get a Husqvarna or a Ariens IMO!
the Yard-Man product is made by MTD Corporation they make Troy-Built they make Cub Cadet and to be honest with you I don't care for any of them because of the fact is they break easy
Thats Bullshit Greg I have had my YardMan Tecumseh 7 horse 25in for close to 20 years .. Kicks Ass like the first day I used it Gave it a good cleaning and service 5 years ago and still kickin ass and throwin them snow biaches aside. Tecumseh..there are no substitutes
*I owned one of these for many years. This one was for my daughter. It will do a great job on powder snow>>>**ur2.pl/1009** however deep, as long as you stay ahead of it. Very reliable and well built. Since it is electric It also eliminates any starting issues or the need to store gasoline. The downside is heavy, wet snow.*
Her down here in Tennessee a Yard-Man lawn mower is worthless nobody will even buy the cheap jug down here maybe where you're at it's actually worth something

you may have the last of the Tecumseh motors mounted on that type of machine. they close the small engine division right around 2007.
Yardman should make this platform into an atv unit. If I can find one used I am gonna do that.

It's by a lake called "Emerillion Lake", which is situated about 44 kms outside of my permanent home in Wabush, Labrador (Eastern Canada)

More horsepower is always needed. If that thing had my 25 Hp Onan on it, you could turn the blower and fan faster, then you can increase the ground speed. I'm a horsepower Junkie so I know I have problems !
At the time, the Tecumseh 358cc 13hp was as big as they got and were the last of the Quality built winter engines.
Now they go to 420cc at around 15hp, their also bigget and heavier but also made in China by Briggs and clones. Most snowblowers didn't need anything over 13hp since 36 wide is typically the widest, this is about the only exception and the 13hp 358cc Tecumseh still seems to fair well on it.

I got it slightly used but still in excellent condition. I paid approx $1500 Canadian for it, however, the original owner paid nearly 4 Grand.
It looks new - you got a good deal - I'm in Canada too - about 1 hour east of Vancouver - not much snow here - maybe 2 snowfalls per year.

It would need for independent tires to be four-wheel-drive since it has four tires on the same axel it is 2 Wheel Drive
As those say when the model of snow thrower first came out as a dually when those were leary of the amount of power it offers to the width of the swath it cuts when it would be capable enough to clear a moderately to a large driveway.

Any blower can do the job if you use it properly. Prior to this I own a sears craftsman for 15 years and then a Walmart jobbie for 5-6 years.

Kenneth McCann yes happy to report gas expense is not much of an issue really. Filling up a tank is good for quite a while. I can do my house driveway 2-3 times or do my cabin driveway/parking lot on a tank (much more than you’d burn in a vehicle with a plow or loader contract). Am planning to do a followup video within the next couple of weeks.
Good as this may be it is not 4 wheel drive and will not outperform a true 4 wd or a track unit, simple mechanics and physics. Does Yard-man call it 4 wheel drive? If so they are mis-leading the buying public, in fact it is a dually.
Hank Henry you are correct. I realize I should have been more specific and said that there are four wheels that produce traction, and not truly a 4-wheel drive.

Yes a plow is definitely convenient as well. I had one for 8 winters and it served me well. However, I always found it a struggle to stay ahead of the snow clearing as we get no thaw whatsoever, and, given the fact that we have 6 months of winter each year, the snow compounds greatly so it leaves a person with no place to push it.
I also have a truck with plow. I want a snowblower that will mount on my truck so I don't have to clean the dirt off my lawn every spring. I have a tarred driveway, but the last few years snow arrives before the ground freezes.
If you don't mind tall snow walls at the edge of the road, especially in heavy snow areas. A good snow blower throws it 30 feet away.

The caretaker across the street had one for his apartments. Did not even last a whole year! He said everything was worn out. The MTD snowblowers are made very weak, I worked at a dealership so I have a bit of an idea! Get a Husqvarna or a Ariens IMO!

the Yard-Man product is made by MTD Corporation they make Troy-Built they make Cub Cadet and to be honest with you I don't care for any of them because of the fact is they break easy
Greg Ruscitti Briggs and Stratton owns most consumer brands now sorry to say even snapper simplicity almost every brand the Briggs company bought.
