I gott get you into the Good Rats from Long Island, New York, an original band from the 1970s. They wouldn't change their music for any record executive, so great talent gets passed up.
Hi Glen!!! is always nice and cool to rediscover classic bands and artist from long time ago..... it's a cool exercise going back and listen to some of this records and now appreciating their music that for some reason totally passed you by like the police, or Genesis. cheers and be well
Hi Glen. I have been following Robbie Fulks for abput 30 years mow. He is a solid . 0:00 songwriter. Most of his albums are on the Bloodshot label. He is a hidden gem. I enjoy your videos. Norman
We got a few in common. Rory for sure, mainly been listening to his live albums. I knew a bit about him but no really that much, until i cane across his Rockpalast performances here on UA-cam. Billy Strings was one of those names i always read/heard but didn't listen to a lot until recently. The live album he released yesterday is incredible, 10 to 20 minutes absolut madness. Police i have always been a fan of since the 80s, so they don't really count. A band i recently discovered is Fanny, the all-female band from the early 70s, great singers, great players. They just recently managed to release two TV appearances from 71 and 72 as a live album (it's also on UA-cam on the Beat Club channel). New artists/bands include Angela Petrilli and the Players, Grace Bowers and the Hodge Podge, Marcus King, Kingfish Ingram. Lots of great guitar players, and Grace is only 17, so there is hopefully a lot to come, her debut is coming out in August, and she will have her debut at the Grand Ole Opry on her 18th birthday.
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement it's certainly not an album for everyone, but I'm fairly sure you'll like it. I didn't know it would come out that day, so I was pleasantly surprise when the clock turned midnight and I saw it popping up on Spotify, just wanted to listen to a song or two, listened to the whole damn thing, was a short night for me 😁 mine will be here on Monday or Tuesday.
I'm always saying I gotta give Billy Strings some love. I like what I've streamed but I have yet to run across any physical media in Ottawa. A suggestion I'd have for a similar artist would be Dillon Hodges. He won the U.S. championship for flatpick guitar at 16 yr old. He is trying to make his love for bluegrass / Americana music more accessible for today's listener. He and his partner Heidi Feek out of Muscle Shoals, Ala. are known by the moniker Firekid. You should give a listen to the album entitled Firekid.
Just been listening to the Joe Strummer album 'Streetcore.' The Clash and the Sex Pistols were about the only punk bands I ever liked - the Ramones sometimes. I really like his vibe on this album. I used to have all the Genesis albums until Peter Gabriel left. Phil Collins did a great job copying his voice, but never managed to capture his spirit. 'Selling England by the Pound' is my favorite too. There is so much good stuff out there.
@@timhewtson6212 I'd say in most of (western) Europe (don't know about the other side of the iron curtain). He just wasn't the shiny Mr. Rockstar, and that was intentional.

Nice idea buddy! I'd definitely say I listen more to the newer artists I'm discovering than the old guys like Prine and Petty.
Thanks Sam..it great we have so much music to discover..

Cool.I like Joe solo much more than The Clash..
From what I have heard so far, so do I
Rory Gallagher should have been a household name, wonderful talent, gone too soon
Yes👍
Rory was a household name, at least in Britain.

Have you ever thought about rediscovering Phil Oaks?
I love Rory Gallagher. Billy Strings is phenomenal
Yes and yes👍👍
He you listened to the new T-Bone Burnett album "The Other Side"? It might be in my top 5 for the year. Lots of songs about life and growing older.
I have given it a quick listen and did like it..
Great idea again for a video! Perhaps by next year you will be into Can like I am. I still think you would love Future Days after a couple of listens.
Future Days is a solid album, a little more accessible. A fine part of, what I refer to as, the trilogy of Can.
I will check out Future Days on Spotify..
