It legit sounds like a training video it is demonstrating what NOT to do. The operator made several mistakes.
yeah that operator was high on some shit. i hope that the call wasnt real cause thats some fucked up incompetence.
I had a relative who has been a dispatcher for decades listen to this and she said there's a 75% chance it's a training call or fake. The dispatcher gave it away apparently.
yea she was trying to say her address but the operator cut her off to ask what's the problem? that right there makes it seem fake as hell.
@@weird1605 sometimes I guessed you can answered the phone before picking it up, and they normally answer by saying that first
in this location this is a demonstration used for training 911 operators to know what not to do, this was for immediately asking for location and address.
The consistent scream could be from “Ruth” holding her phone tightly, as not everyone will drop a phone when attacked. So that could explain why she doesn’t sound further away when she screams.
It's because of audio compression, another comment explained it really well but here's the cliffsnotes version:
Phones have a maximum audio input and output to prevent prank calls where you could just blow someone's ear out, so therefore as long as her voice remained louder than the input compressor then it would stay at a consistent volume.
Basically shes probably calling from a phone that is on a wall with short strings.. That phone made it possible to hear those screams
I would drop the phone to at least put up a fight. When you are in the fight for your life you're usually in survival mode. Nothing around you matters but trying to save your own life. If you've ever heard domestic violence calls, sometimes you hear the phone drop or the person sounds muffled as the victim tries to defend themselves.
@@kiki1573 I agree with you, the best thing is to fight and usually people do, however, sadly this was an old woman probably incapable of protecting herself and sometime, when the fight or flight system goes off in our minds, people choose flight. I just wish it would have been fight.
Isabelle Call, it also could’ve been her getting tackled or kicked down while holding the phone, she was elderly, and it seems like there is a a sound right before she starts screaming that sounds like a smash. Please respond to this.
Once she started screaming, it sent chills down my spine
This is why the 911 operator shouldnt have interrupted her while she told the address.

@@GODCONVOYPRIME damnit, I was gonna make a C H I L L S joke
Bodys anching all teh timeeee
yeah same. i’m ok with screams, but that... it was.. harrowing..
I find it odd that an operator would cut someone off when they’re telling them an address
I read somewhere that the reason they use this recording in training is to show how not answer calls, stating that if the operator had gotten the full address they could have sent someone out immediately.
Unfortunately that's common where I live. In my town, the operators interrupt and one has even hung up on me.
Listen to the 911 call a social worker makes when Susan Powell's children are being held hostage by their father. That operator was an asshole and he has zero remorse to this day
@@allenwrench2352 There was at one point something I read on yet another forum trying to find the source of this. Take it as you will, probably a bluff but who knows.
Allegedly Ruth Price kept calling the place over the week about little things that made her seem paranoid, they started getting impatient with her. Sounds like a lack of professionalism on their part but again, you never know.
I heard that Ruth was supposedly just a paranoid lady who would regularly call 911 but there would end up being nothing wrong. So they kind of just stopped taking her seriously, which is why the dispatcher sounded so crass and impatient.
worst is that it doesnt matter if real or fake cause this happens every day somewhere in some form

Same here fam, same here.
It makes me worried about elderly people living alone, especially when they dont have any family. I remember reading an article of a recent r*pe and murder of an elderly woman by three men and she lived near me.
My stomach really hurts even before watching it I felt it was scary
I think you'd like 'Local 58'. Check it out
I think what's so terrifying about the call is how abrupt it goes:
It starts off normally with a calm but slightly concerned elderly woman alert by _something_ in her area
...and then the screaming starts.
God the screams.
The screams... you can hear it all go down... the pain.. the fear... and the last moments of one's life. Like when it all went silent for one second then you hear the one last sound from her. 2:18
But the worst one for me was 2:15
.. how unfortunate.
It sounds like the ooh these are some pretty cool bannanas scream
My thing is though like...there doesn’t sound like a struggle going on. So if these were her last moments, then it would probably mean she saw something so awful she had a heart attack and died. Which could make sense if she’s an old lady.
But if it was a reenactment though, then it makes sense why there’s no background noises.
I kek'd
@@coochie1030 THAT'S why it sounded so familiar!
God that operator is the worst. If this is real, I really hope she was fired.
Bouncy- Story293 Good the operator was ass
@Bouncy- Story293 it wasnt even confirmed if its fake
I heard a story that ruth price was an old woman who always randomly called the police saying she feels like someone was stalking her and eventually the police got tired and didn't take her paranoia seriously......
with a gun.
She also cut the person off. How rude
I think it’s a staged 911 call, for the purpose of training 911 operators.
The 911 operator in this audio makes many ‘rookie mistakes’. Cutting off the caller, allows the caller to roam around her home, not advising her to lock doors, not instructing the caller to calm down, doesn’t assure caller police are en route etc.
Also, the narrative plays out incredibly conveniently. With the caller being right by the door.
KingofHearts that would make sense then and it gives me hope that a woman didn’t die
It happened in 1988. They use it in training.
I really hope so. But that scream...
I think the it being presented as 100% real is just them being lied to to make them scared to not make a mistake
The old lady ALSO made several mistakes.. She deserves some of the blame for this as well..
That poor woman, that’s sounded like such a horrible way to die...
@KL Sinqz I know its just awful
@KL Sinqz yes she would. The reason she was screaming was because she was already on edge from this guy walking around her house, and then she lost sight of him. That surprise factor (especially if she was home alone) would've floored anyone, even if you were prepared with a gun you would jump at the very least at the sight of a malevolent home invader.
@KL Sinqz i belive you the chainsaw ands looks if the killer is cutting of the legs

For anyone wondering, this case has been resolved!! Ruth Price was a real woman, and this was a real call placed in 1980. However, Ruth managed to scare off the man who tried to strangle her, and lived for 14 more years before passing from an illness. Slightly Sociable has a video on it! :)
Well at least most stories have good endings
Yea ruth price is a bad ass old lady.
Bro, the video you are talking about is literally right next to the comment you made, on my computer. Quite the coincidence/convenience.
Mr. Nightmare did a really good job of explaining what happened with this 911 call. The thing that threw me off.. in the "San Diego evening tribune" it mentions her and this attack in Nov. 1980 but it says she's 76. She would've been 67 at the time of the attack if she was born in 1913.

The screams being so close to the phone always made me think that this very well could be fake...then I thought, it's an old lady. Why am I assuming she was standing up? She very well could have been sitting down and gripping the phone in fear. Or perhaps she didn't die during the actual phone call. Maybe she saw the man in her house coming for her and became hysterical, and when the phone cuts, that is when he kills her. He may have cut the cord, or just took the phone from her. Just a thought.
That's exactly what I thought too.
I can just imagine her holding the phone tightly in her hand and with it not too far from her face. Maybe she could've tried using it as defence.
I was on my cell phone when someone knocked me down, I think to steal my phone, I never dropped the phone through landing on my other elbow, rolling from my side to my back, and then dragging the kid off of me with my other hand. I always use a headset when on my phone now.

Yup!
It is real. A 911 dispatcher came out and said during his class they played the recording as what NOT to do during a call and the reason why they now have to ask for the callers location before anything else. The call was placed in 1988 so that's the reason theres no news coverage about it online.
He mentioned it in the video, maybe pay more attention next time. And even if that happened in 1988, I still find it hard to believe that there's absolutely nothing about it somewhere. I think I heard on a channel this is to teach operators to ask the address before anything else, which she didn’t do and that’s what I’ve hears/seen again and again on various videos. This audio is on so many top 3,4,5 lists etc. it’s so chilling ,poor lady, it sounds real !
I'm pretty sure it actually is. It came from like the 80s which is why there aren't news articles online about it. It's the reason that practice started getting taught in the first place
The scary part is that this could happen to anyone, my adoptive mom is in her 70’s and I’m 17. I’m kind of scared to leave her alone like this considering my dad died when I was young.
It seems so real. She seems distracted for a second, before focusing again. Seems she heard him near by faintly. The rookie mistake of rushing the problem seems understandable as Ruth sounded safe and the dispatcher probably felt the problem was more important at first. The man approached once already to clearly scope the home for others. The screams make sense as it feels he appeared from the shadows with a knife causing her intense screams. She never gets further away as the phone never leaves her hands, which wouldn't drop, she'd have them pulled up towards her head for protection. The sudden cut off makes sense as you'd not make a sound once impaled, and would drop the phone which you can hear. These insane attentions to detail make me believe it's real and this breaks my heart.
It’s truly depressing how so many people lack the ability to visualize a scenario like this and all the possible ways it could play out.
This entire comment section if full of people saying that the call here is fake despite there being evidence to support the idea of it being very real. You demonstrated that this call could very easily be possible within reason.

The good thing is that this phone call was actually real but this has a good ending the woman who was almost killed scared off the guy who tried strangling her and she live for a decade and half later before she died which is great!
Whenever I’m bored I watch one of your videos and they scare the living shit outta me every time
This is the worst raid shadow legends creepypasta I've ever heard
Available now on the apple and Google play store
I appreciate that Raid is funding youtubers but I'm getting really sick of seeing it everywhere.
Same tbh

I’ve probably heard that clip 100times but it still gives me chills every time I hear
a reason why her scream volume was consistent could be that she is disabled. she could be in a wheelchair unable to move to get away if the phone was against a wall, or if the phone dropped into the seat of her wheelchair. that would also explain why you don't hear her running too.
Another reason could be that you see in a lot of horror movies when the killer is nearby they don’t run so maybe that was a little situation here so maybe she was just shocked and standing in fear
In some parts, you could hear her saying "I can't breathe" or something... I think she was choked to death.
About one second after she says “please help me”, I noticed that she may have said “it’s him, it’s the man”, it doesn’t really mean much at all but I’m just trying to add more to the call
I think I hear "he is stabbing me".
Her last worst are subject to debate. I've seen others argue she is saying "I can't breathe" or something along those lines.

The fact that it's so "good" actually makes it seem faker to me, real life horror is messy and not as perfectly set up to be scary as fake stuff is.

I remember this audio. This was used in training video for 911 operators. Instead of asking about the situation, first always confirm the address. This is a 100% real call.
Edit: yeah, I texted this before scares got to the Reddit part
THIS WAS SOLVED!!!! It turns out.. IT WAS REAL!!!! BUT!! She survived the attack.. Her name is Ruth M. Price.. She died in 1994.. but the attack took place in 1980.. which is what threw off a lot of the information to solve it.. because certain MODERN protocol were not implemented in 911 calls as we know them today.. CHECK OUT.. BARELY SOCIALABLE for the FULL VIDEO!!!

i find it very very weird that when the woman says "i don't know where he is" the robber/attacker appears.
GoOd mEMe BrO it’s either convenient/cinematic timing for a fake or the attacker was hiding nearby and when he heard that he realized he had the element of surprise and needed to act now or gave him the impulse to act. For me it adds credence to both theories :o what a cruel sick man if it is real
@@KitKat_293 i get what you ae saying, and you are right, but also something that i find weird is that the attacker jumps at a moment where the woman has a high awareness in the situtation and doesnt have the guard down, the strike would be more effective if he attacked when the woman was distracted, example making a sound, throwing something or clappling can give you the moment needed to strike
GoOd mEMe BrO Ummm... why do you know this information? Is there something you need to reveal to the police?

i find it odd that the operater just listened to hear screams instead of at least saying that the police were on their way

@Marc Woolward, probably still send police so they have a chance of catching the killer.
When you're calling 911, say your location FIRST
They have the location the second you connect.

I was actually part of a training that used this audio. It wasn't specifically a dispatcher training but there were several of them present along with other law enforcement, lawyers, and counselors. (I work as a domestic violence counselor). The training itself was on strangulation and what signs to pick up in a 911 call that someone's been strangled such as raspy voice, saying they grabbed them by the throat, etc. They showed many 911 calls including this one. They weren't saying that Ruth was strangled but I think they threw it in there to show that dispatchers need to get the address first and foremost. They presented the audio as absolutely real. Several people in the audience were quite horrified because not all of them are exposed to this sort of stuff. If it was fake, you'd think the trainers would assure the audience to not traumatize them (remember this isn't just dispatchers present during the training but people who don't have to listen to stuff like that).
Who's here after the mystery has finally been solved?

Me: oh baby
Me (busting through wall):Oh yeah!
2:01 listen right before the screaming starts, you can hear the sound of either a window opening, or someone walking. And towards the end there’s a sort of sound of impact. I think what happened was the woman saw that man in her house or coming in through an unlocked window as she was on the phone.
And he ran towards her and suffocated her and then probably beat her to death
I think since this seems to be a fairly old phone call that something may have hit the receiver
@@spongeboi.offical3901 No I don’t think he suffocated her.
Lots of people think she was stabbed to death by a butcher’s Knife-
I think we would have heard the struggle, unless they stop the replay before the actual murder.
What I think is she went up to the door and opened it and there he was on the other side
The fact that the operator was so calm and the lady was screaming was what chilled me.
