Last year I attended a relative's PhD graduation at Johns Hopkins, and the entire ceremony was a lecture in "woke". Demand change (versus presenting compelling data and collaborating). Fight for your personal truth (versus using the scientific method to guide our thought processes). Ban guns! (speaker paused for applause and got a laughably tepid response from the stadium), and of course, the groveling mea culpa land acknowledgement prior to any of this (because capitalism is bad). I'm glad I earned my science degree before this nonsense took over our universities.
Glenn, you are a gracious host. Mr. Kaiser is a learned man, raised in an liberal academic institution well outside and disconnected fom mainstream America, clinging to those biased views. You sir, are kind in lending your platform to his illogical and biased views.
Mr Kaiser immediately disqualifies himself in his reference to “insurrection”. Vague references to “what Trump wanted” is hardly an argument for his point.
It's suprising how even the learned are prone to the mental control of programing. They are word people and don't understand how things work. That makes them easy to program.
Trump's high crime or misdemeanor: "The attempt, in many ways, to overturn the result of the election." But there was no result of the election, just competing slates of electors. Had Pence rejected some certifications (which I don't think he ought o have done, despite the fact that some of them -- Michigan's comes to mind -- smelled) the result of the election might have been decided by the vote of Congressional delegations grouped by State. Guess what?: That's the process set forth in the Constitution. How can bringing that about by legal means be an "insurrection"?
Boy this guy needs to watch a bit of news on Epoch TV. This is a problem that you have a great historian of American history and he seems clueless to what was going on Jan.6. I'm just a layman and when I came home that evening from work and watched the news I could smell a set up right away. It's 3 years later and I watch a documentary on what happened on Jan,6 last evening and then today I listen to this educated man and he seems to be totally in the dark. God have mercy.
Thank you for this discussion but I still can't take seriously anyone who thinks January 6, 2021, was an insurrection when no one was armed. If you ask servicemen who have been stationed overseas or journalists like Michael Shellenberger who have been in other countries and witnessed real insurrections, they will tell you as much. Ask somebody who knows.
Glenn, the J6 story will never be resolved. Even someone as smart as Kaiser gets stuck because of the difficulty some people have, especially the more educated, in dealing with Trump's speech and mannerisms. He's not only a political outsider, he's, for these people especially, a social outsider. Like Jews at Harvard once upon a time, I might add.
He clearly has TDS and believes in hoaxes. He doesn't know that Trumps tweeter account was blocked out as soon as he posted to stop the rioting and go home. It takes a huge leap of faith to actually believe that a population group who by far owns the most gun plotted and executed an insurrection without any guns. It takes a HUGE leap of faith to believe that a sitting president tried to commit an insurrection without utilizing the armed forces. The entire "Insurrection" nonsense was always just that, NONSENSE. You don't take over a country by occupying a building. It is beyond stupid and Kaiser is playing the part.

I'd call it a "soft insurrection" and I'd also describe it as "children acting out." Was it ever an actual threat to the government? Didn't look like it to me.
@@filmjazzIt was more serious than children acting out. If Trump wanted the results of the election changed, I call that an attempted coup. Thank you for your reply.
I wouldn’t use the word insurrection at all. It was just a natural thing that was inevitable due to the emotions and circumstances. The rule changes and exceptions made for Covid followed by drawn out vote counting and articles about voting irregularities, media manipulation, highly improbable outcomes in bellwether districts, etc. All being discounted by the media that favored the declared winner. Meanwhile the other side brought on lawyers citing the 1960 election as precedent for sending the slate of electors back to the states with questionable results until the allegations could be investigated. Wrong or not, this gets a huge group of common folk out to protest. Maybe they’re stupid, but they do understand taking over a building doesn’t earn you control of the US government. They wanted the irregularities investigated. Of course they wanted their side to win, but more importantly they needed reassurance that the outcome was legitimate and democracy actually played out. I’d call that patriotic. Naive sure. I can imagine Trump waiting to see what happened, but that’s just my imagination. It’s not illegal for him to do so if he did. The capitol and DC police were in control and had jurisdiction. Many in the establishment were at fault. Pelosi literally ignored the early concerns and later calls from the capitol police chief for reinforcements. We know there were hundreds of undercover agents in the crowd doing who knows what. The back of the crowd doesn’t know what front is doing, they just move closer as the flow starts. Big money media then smears them, the new ruling party smears them through “official” proceedings and declarations. All pushing narrative over objective rational fact. Personally, I think democrats and republican elites are fighting over who gets to steal the silverware before hitting the life boats while the ship sinks. There is no stopping the collapse, it has too much momentum. Too many years of stupid and corrupt people running the country. Fighting about whose BS you’re regurgitating is silly. Be objective, and address your fellow citizens’ concerns. Or push escalation and wait for the inevitable. Unfortunately we’ve forgotten what Hell on Earth was like.
sure, it was a riot, like BLM protests and anarchist riots against Trump outside the White House, which were never called insurrection. The people literally shoved some police officers, walked around and then went home.@@justmyopinion9883 You understand his supporters are the most heavily armed people in America, right, an insurrection would involve showing up and shooting people and trying to take control of the Capitol and other centers of power.
Wow. Don't think I'll be reading any books by a guy making factually inaccurate claims & brushing aside challenges to them w the likes of “well, I don't have the details, but …”. His “analysis” of the C Gay scandal & the supposed insurrection & Trump's alleged incitement seem to come entirely from WaPo talking points. Hope Glenn was at least able to persuade him to get Ground News …
Exactly! I was upset at Glenn for not making that distinction, because this guy used that strawman to avoid criticizing Gay. She and the others were not asked to comment on the war at all, but that's what he tailored his response to.
@@wenmill1 agree completely! It was similar to people inserting "1st ammendment" argument in this situation, which is also completely irrelevant because the question wasn't about free speech but the SCHOOL'S regulations.
He doesn’t know the particulars of what Trump said, but he states that Trump used words that were a facet of inciting insurrection. Hmmm. Not sure he has any credibility.
Disqualification from the ballot may not be a criminal punishment, but as long as Kaiser is talking about what we should not forget maybe we should not forget that Trump was ACQUITTED of the charge of insurrection by the Senate. So some Democrat Secretary of State or some cabal of Democrats in black robes keeping him off a ballot looks to me much more like an insurrection than anything Trump did.
@galtha5824 Thanks and nor will I. Seriously, though, he's supposed to be an intelligent professional and speak carefully with clarity. Instead, he's spouting low-brow talking points that have been repeatedly and thoroughly debunked.
That your guest could accuse a president of inciting an insurrection but couldn't recall the words that president used to do it is immediately disqualifying. Such an accusation requires proof which this guest seems unable to provide.
Say there was a music festival in El Paso and a Mexican cartel swarmed over the border and murdered concert goers, leaving their tortured, raped and mutilated bodies behind and took hostages, what would the US do? What would the US do if if they still had hostages months later and it became clear that the goal of the cartel was to 'take back' parts of Texas, NM, AZ and CA? With the support of much of Europe and probably Canada too?
This guy’s take on the Colorado case is hot garbage. Insurrection is an actual Federal Crime and he’s never been charged, let alone convicted. The idea that Colorado can just hand wave him as an insurrectionist is ridiculous. S Crt is going to reverse this dumpster fire.
WORSE, he was already impeached and found not guilty by Congress. You know,, Congress, who deal with federal matters. Yet some state Supreme Court gets to decide his guilt, in a federal matter 😂😂
And you sure the Supreme Court will overturn it??? They sure didn’t do much with the election matters. They are all cowards. They don’t wanna make decisions because they’re afraid of the consequences.
I taught at Berkeley for over 30 years in the School of Social Work. The focus was on practice not DEI when I retired a decade ago. I understand that things have shifted. The hiring of a Dean who is not a social worker, but instead is a Sociologist and a black woman clearly committed to DEI. As a result, all of practice specialization have been eliminated and a program that provided stipends for students preparing for careers in child welfare was eliminated. The School has essentially been destroyed.
I'm all good with disagreement and opinion SO LONG AS IT'S MAPPED BACK TO TRUTH. David consistently struggled to do this.... On each topic covered. Disappointing.
Glenn lets this guy just slide on so many issues. FDR was followed by Truman, not Eisenhower, and it was Truman who cemented the Administrative State put in place by the New Deal, especially with the National Security Act of 1947. And Kaiser keeps going and going without any challenge... I'm not buying his analysis no matter how many books he's written.
I was disheartened to hear Mr Kaiser state that Trump wanted Pence to "take an unconstitutional step" and not certify the election. Does he not know about Jefferson in 1800? I question his ability to accuracy comment on 2020...
"Disqualification isn't a criminal punishment" However, did Mr. Kaiser even consider that half the nation believes that Trump is being victimized via baseless, unfounded, arbitrary and capricious disqualification schemes and that these conspiratorial activities may be crimes (against Trump's rights) in and of themselves? A very similar thing is happening in Canada (as we speak) to Jordan Peterson's professional license and he is being remanded to "re-education" by a Canadian Professional Organization, simply because the woke collective doesn't agree with him, not because he is "disqualified".
These are the same people that claim congress isn’t a court of law, so it doesn’t matter if what happens in there, is in no way lawful or like a court of law. No innocent until proven guilty. No need for witnesses. Etc etc. of course, when that Congress says trump is not guilty, nah, can’t have that. A random states Supreme Court gets to decide that instead lol
Kaiser's own historical interpretations are shot through with moral assumptions and value judgments, some of which are questionable. He's not merely describing "what happened". However, this is nothing new in the field of history. And old school historians like him are leaps and bounds better than the new breed who don't even hold neutrality and obectivity as ideals to strive toward. A guy like Kaiser is open to counterargument.
Notice how his main criticism of Biden is that he has failed to seize the spotlight. In other words, people are noticing that the power can't possibly be coming from where we are told it does, and we are left wondering. Where, if not there?
I'm surprised that historians are allowed to freely give an "unbiased accounting of the facts" surrounding the "wonderful progressive social programs and policies" of the 1930s and in the company of economists who know better. No discussion of how the crash of 1929 was on it's way to righting itself when the government instituted a series of disastrous policies that wrought double digit unemployment and economic nihilism upon the country for the next decade.. Not even a furtive glance when this "unbiased accountant of historical facts" mentioned that it "just took a smidgen longer than usual" for the economy to fix itself after those policies. You let this fellow off way too easy for the pleasure of using your platform to advertise his book, Glenn.
Please quit with the adds in the middle of your interviews.....want to move on there's so many of them. These ads are becoming more frequent and annoying.
After what happened the first time, how anyone who lives the real world is afraid of a second Trump term is beyond me. Or has been drinking the propaganda like kool-aid.
From the transcript of President Trump's speech on 1/6/2021. "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard. Today, we will see whether Republicans stand strong for the integrity of our elections. But whether or not they stand strong for our country -- our country, our country has been under siege for a long time. Far longer than this four-year period." Then President Trump's tweets on 1/6/2021: 2:38pm - "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!" 3:13pm - "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order - respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!" There was a video that Trump posted on Twitter telling everyone to go home. I believe that was deleted and was a catalyst to getting him banned from Twitter. And for the record - I am not a Trump supporter. I also don't hate the guy. It's obvious he's being attacked by his political rivals. It's disgusting.
I listened as long as I could but the TDS was too strong. At least grapple with Trump's words and posts on that day, which were explicitly calling for peaceful protest- which is their right even if it turned out violent (and not all of it, at that).
Good stuff. However, I missed a discussion of Eisenhower's departing speech on the military-industrial complex and how it was prophetic regarding the often crackpot military expansionism and adventurism and initiated wars of subsequent administrations and the inability of the mainstream media to recognize or criticize these phenomena.
People born after the internet, appreciate the fact that you can actually sit in on an hour long conversation between two intellectuals of this caliber. If not for UA-cam, this would be impossible for most of us. Thanks, fellas.
Glenn: I disagree with your guests claim that the other Jewish professor was right to border on calling Israel genocidal. Look, I don’t like Netanyahu either, but Hamas caused this whole debacle. Is it possible that Israel overeacts? Sure. Still on one level you can certainly understand Israel’s position. Further, the Israeli left, though not a fan of Netanyahu has been pretty supportive of IDF actions. There are consequences to an atrocity such as the one perpetrated by Hamas. I agree that scholars can disagree and take different positions but I felt that the particular scholar who was critical of Israel had an outsized bias against Israel. That’s okay but I want to calm him out first what he was. He seemed excessively critical as opposed to what I would consider a more rational or less biased criticism of Israel.
Mr. Kaiser lost me when he conflated inquiry into voting integrity with an overturning attempt, and he REALLY lost me when he said it was the responsibility of the President to inspire confidence in our institutions. It is the responsibility of the President to MAKE THE INSTITUTIONS WORTY OF CONFIDENCE. There is a distinct difference.
So much from David to disagree with. His romanticism about FDR and misunderstanding of the effects of his policies are nauseating. To think of the New Deal, which was disastrous, as some sort of heaven sent update that brought America to modernity, rather than something that sowed the seeds for a disastrous financial future, is gobsmacking. I could say more, but it would be a waste of my time and yours.
I appreciate this conversation by two learned men, who use thinking, support their views verbally, and will to examine and give analysis to the state of education and world events. The best part is they highlight the need for intellectual excellence promoting natural curiosity and potential of our young people instead of cookie cutter wokeism.
This man starts out bemoaning the loss of intellectual curiosity and proceeds to show none about Jan 6th or Trump, as usual. Tiresome - how do you do it, Glenn? This kind of “intelligence” is insufferable.
That’s not fair Glen Elise Stefanik a graduate of Harvard and a hard working woman should not be described as you have it’s wrong I would ask u to stop that
It is every human's job to take a stand on threats of violence and, I hope, to stand against it. He rationalizes her behavior according to some convoluted protocol argument. Disgusting.
Glen I personally don't know that academic historian. But his contribution has led me to conclude that his lack of objectivity and blatantly seen bias in particular to jan 6. That I refuse to examine any of his writings. This is not to say he is not a smart guy but his objective obnoxiousness is sicking
Did you catch the part where he supported Constitutional originalism in his interpretation of the 14th Amendment, but then felt the need to be critical of the Constitutional provisions of the impeachment process?
The Constitution calls for Congress to set policy and the President to faithfully execute their plans. That the president has any role in policy is unacceptable. Congress should only allow the president to provide the required information about the accounts, not to make political speeches.
Even Dr Loury -whom I view as a bastion of intellectual and moral honesty in a time severely starved of both- is sometimes swayed by the inclination to be polite and cordial in the face of tremendous, I have no better way to convey this, bullshit. I appreciate Dr Kaisers acknowledgment of the problem in institutions of higher learning, but beyond that I would find it difficult to differentiate him from those that propagate it. Had to cut this one of early, which is a shame as the previous episode pertaining to the war in Gaza was challenging in a positive way and I had hoped for more of the same.
I do agree Reagan began the catastrophic economic downfall of the U.S., wages ceased to keep up with cost of living and ALL prices increased - housing, educational, healthcare - absolutely catastrophic
Do you actually have a clue about the history of inflation or its cause? From a debt free nation in 1836, we experienced 95% inflation between 1860 and 1865, then the dollar completely recovered by 1897, inflation began again and peaked at 113% in 1926, recovering to 67% in 1939...so that what cost $1.00 in 1860 and 1897, cost $1.67 in 1939. You still with me...? What cost $1.67 in 1939, cost $2.90 in 1950, inflation rate 73%, $3.57 in 1960, i.r. 23%, $4.67 in 1970, i.r. 30%,, $9.93 in 1980, i.r. 112%, $ 15.75 in 1990, i.r. 53%, $20.75 in 2000, i.r. 31% $26.27 in 2010, i.r. 26%, and $34.18 in 2022, inflation rate 30% So over 80 years with "real or lawful money" you have a total inflation rate of 67% From 1939 to 1980, the inflation rate was 594% or 893% compared to 1860 and 1897. In real money or lawful money terms...current inflation is running at 5697% since 1971 or 4730% at the current "official" or "lawful money" rate. Even Marx knew what "money" was: Money is a commodity...people seeking to acquire money are capitalists as money is capital. Das Kapital v1 p27, p63, p 104-107 Now it should be noted that the government-calculated inflation rate in (2022 ) only 1946% since 1939, while the real money rate is considerably higher... So it should be clear that keeping up is not possible, nor will it ever be possible...so the only advantage the U.S. holds is that all money is now fiat. So, FDR managed to destroy both capitalism and constitutional government...as Michael Hudson accurately demonstrates...although he avoids the "unconstitutional, criminal" connection directly. You are free to attempt to spin this any way you like...good luck with that.
I'm always amazed by what TDS does to otherwise fantastic minded intellectuals or historians. Your guest has what can only be classified as Sam Harris syndrome. He can build an entire house of wisdom, intellectualism, logic, facts....and then blow it all down in an instant when the name Trump is mentioned. I think the greatest tragedy of where we are at today is the loss of great ideals and idealists because they can't detach themselves from ill founded bias.
Kaiser is an appropriate last name for someone who wants absolute rule and our legitimate President to be counted as a confederate. Look in the mirror Mr.Kaiser.

I get SO p'd off by simplistic revisionists who zap Lincoln for not immediately screaming for abolition. D.C. was surrounded by a slave "border state," Maryland, which had riots in Baltimore when the first northern troops came through in trains to defend the capital. He HAD to be diplomatic toward four border states to keep them from seceding (and station tens of thousands of troops in Maryland to make sure). Lincoln said in 1858 that the country could not exist "half slave and half free"--"a house divided against itself cannot stand." He wanted slavery to end but he understood, which apparently people now are too dumb to do, that a unified country was the ESSENTIAL CONDITION for ultimate abolition, and he had to keep the country together FIRST. I despair of how dumb and presentist actual historians are becoming, and what they're teaching..

Also, why didn’t he point out that 7 of the 46 Presidents were related or direct descendants of Samuel Hinckley? Sorry Glenn, I know he is your friend but this man is an idiot.
What an unimpressive guest. Sounds like a political hack, not a historian. We're clearly too hard on the young if this is the best 'old' Harvard could produce.
He lost me at ethnic cleansing. The reason for homeless Gazans is that Hamas uses them and their homes as Human Shields....which is a war crime by the way.
It should be noted, that in the short existence of the USA, only 17-20 years have been at peace! This is notwithstanding the undeclared wars, coups and covert operations. The extremely vague and longest, being the "War on Terror" (??!!!). We haven't had an outright victory since WW2, which was fought with Allied forces. This illustrates the fact that we fight for occupation and to gain territory and maintain hegemony. We are a violent country, and our economy prospers from being in a state of constant conflict.
after listening... good riddance the only institutions that matter are those set forth in the constitution as an embodiment of the intent of the declaration of independence...any government run, or manipulated, institutions violating the constitution, or more importantly, the declaration of independence, should be dissolved and justice should be served wherever necessary to dissuade any future recurrence

The people literally shoved some police officers, walked around and then went home.@@justmyopinion9883
You understand his supporters are the most heavily armed people in America, right, an insurrection would involve showing up and shooting people and trying to take control of the Capitol and other centers of power.
Exactly!
always telling it like it is, madame :)
Claudine wasn't asked to take a stand. She was asked whether calling for a genocide is against school policy. Important distinction I feel!
As a military history major the level of liberal derangement this man suffers from is saddening.
Totally agree!
I know right? This is why no one, with any sense, trusts the media. It turns even the smartest people into this. Unquestioning and incurious.
💯 agreed
Disqualification from the ballot may not be a criminal punishment, but as long as Kaiser is talking about what we should not forget maybe we should not forget that Trump was ACQUITTED of the charge of insurrection by the Senate. So some Democrat Secretary of State or some cabal of Democrats in black robes keeping him off a ballot looks to me much more like an insurrection than anything Trump did.
Let me guess, you’re a 45 supporter.
For a historian, he sure sounds like he gets his news from the angry liberal Cat Lady down the hall.
Lol. Great comment. Won't be buying his book. 😂
In Kaiser's defense, I agree that Claudine Gay is a replaceable cog in the machine. Only her title and identity made her special
This guy’s take on the Colorado case is hot garbage. Insurrection is an actual Federal Crime and he’s never been charged, let alone convicted. The idea that Colorado can just hand wave him as an insurrectionist is ridiculous. S Crt is going to reverse this dumpster fire.
I encourage you to watch new documentary just aired this week "DEMOCRACY ON TRIAL on PBS almost every person cited in it is a REPUBLICAN
Well said.
The problem is credentialing... a certain little rich group have turned it into just another grift.
The fact that they had to change the rules so that the vp can’t do something, clearly shows that pence COULD do it.
"Disqualification isn't a criminal punishment"
However, did Mr.
You haven’t done your homework sir and it’s annoying
Kaiser's own historical interpretations are shot through with moral assumptions and value judgments, some of which are questionable. He's not merely describing "what happened". However, this is nothing new in the field of history. And old school historians like him are leaps and bounds better than the new breed who don't even hold neutrality and obectivity as ideals to strive toward. A guy like Kaiser is open to counterargument.
Notice how his main criticism of Biden is that he has failed to seize the spotlight. In other words, people are noticing that the power can't possibly be coming from where we are told it does, and we are left wondering. Where, if not there?
I cringe so hard every time a strident Trump critic doesn’t know what he actually has said.
You let this fellow off way too easy for the pleasure of using your platform to advertise his book, Glenn.
yes, this
I liked this guy until he started repeating lies about Trump being an insurrectionist. Too bad…
Love to see Mr. Kaiser and Thomas Sowell debate/discuss FDR
Far longer than this four-year period."
Then President Trump's tweets on 1/6/2021:
2:38pm - "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"
3:13pm - "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order - respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"
There was a video that Trump posted on Twitter telling everyone to go home. I believe that was deleted and was a catalyst to getting him banned from Twitter.
And for the record - I am not a Trump supporter. I also don't hate the guy. It's obvious he's being attacked by his political rivals. It's disgusting.
How much can I trust a historian that doesn't even bother to understand current events like January 6th in their complexities?
I'm not sure David Kaiser is anywhere near Dr. Loury's caliber.
Of this caliber? Kaiser was disappointing
Its impossible to take this guy seriously on topics i know nothing about when he has such irational opinions on things i do know.
Keiser I believe that you are woke Democrat and refuse to agree with your comments about the best president in my lifetime
They are really grasping for straws, re David's retort at around 33:00.
Jesus the whole thing falls apart at 37:00, goodbye David.
Yes! So happy when a new episode drops! Keep on truckin!
Never Trumper waste of time
Mr Kaiser is wrong.
Thank you.
That’s not fair Glen Elise Stefanik a graduate of Harvard and a hard working woman should not be described as you have it’s wrong I would ask u to stop that
Would like to see Mr. Kaiser debate John Mearsheimer.
It is every human's job to take a stand on threats of violence and, I hope, to stand against it. He rationalizes her behavior according to some convoluted protocol argument. Disgusting.
Didn’t Obama said if they bring knives we’ll bring guns.
I’m glad I watched this. David Kaiser has persuaded me to neither read nor waste any money on anything he has written.
Come on dude!!!!!
You blame Trump for the government opening the doors for a bunch of grandmothers
I’m out!
I do agree Reagan began the catastrophic economic downfall of the U.S., wages ceased to keep up with cost of living and ALL prices increased - housing, educational, healthcare - absolutely catastrophic
Do you actually have a clue about the history of inflation or its cause?
From a debt free nation in 1836, we experienced 95% inflation between 1860 and 1865, then
the dollar completely recovered by 1897, inflation began again and peaked at 113% in 1926,
recovering to 67% in 1939...so that what cost $1.00 in 1860 and 1897, cost $1.67 in 1939.
You still with me...?
What cost $1.67 in 1939, cost $2.90 in 1950, inflation rate 73%, $3.57 in 1960, i.r. 23%,
$4.67 in 1970, i.r. 30%,, $9.93 in 1980, i.r. 112%, $ 15.75 in 1990, i.r. 53%, $20.75 in 2000, i.r. 31%
$26.27 in 2010, i.r. 26%, and $34.18 in 2022, inflation rate 30%
So over 80 years with "real or lawful money" you have a total inflation rate of 67%
From 1939 to 1980, the inflation rate was 594% or 893% compared to 1860 and 1897.
In real money or lawful money terms...current inflation is running at 5697% since 1971
or 4730% at the current "official" or "lawful money" rate.
Even Marx knew what "money" was:
Money is a commodity...people seeking to acquire money are capitalists as money is capital.
Das Kapital v1 p27, p63, p 104-107
Now it should be noted that the government-calculated inflation rate in (2022 ) only 1946%
since 1939, while the real money rate is considerably higher...
So it should be clear that keeping up is not possible, nor will it ever be possible...so the only
advantage the U.S. holds is that all money is now fiat.
So, FDR managed to destroy both capitalism and constitutional government...as Michael Hudson
accurately demonstrates...although he avoids the "unconstitutional, criminal" connection directly.
You are free to attempt to spin this any way you like...good luck with that.
I believe that ‘Common Sense’ was a view of what should be.
Listen to what gay said to students using the word genocide is harassment when it crosses over into behavior listen to that
No. We are phucked - sit around and stretch your intellect - pretend you did not see it coming.
TDS on display here.
I love Glenn and his voice of reason, but this guest's obvious bias was too much to take.
Is there any channel left on here where people have intellectually honest conversations?
@AzureWolf168😆
@AzureWolf168David said nonsense. And was barely pushed back on , when he literally wouldn’t answer for why he believed and said what he said
“Reprisal” is exactly the wrong term. The question is the long term survival of Israel.
Kaiser is an appropriate last name for someone who wants absolute rule and our legitimate President to be counted as a confederate. Look in the mirror Mr.Kaiser.
Kaiser lost the ball at 37 minute mark. Sophomoric response from a storied historian.
Sorry Glenn but this was definitely one of the weakest guests You have platformed. Hate to say it because you ussaully have guests that i am totally ideologically opposed to but they will at minimum provide some thread to follow up on , some kernel of thought that makes you think about why you believe something and if you are correct and to always assess your positions.. but Holy smokes I dont think this guy had one noble thought, not one time did I hear or feel he had anything of depth to say .. they way he flippantly found judgment against trump to keep him of the ballot was a perfect delusion showing why for one the managerial class can no longer be trusted to do what’s best for the country, and was more an example of why and how the institutions have fallen, people like him who would feign intellectual humility but actually believe they are who already knows best damn the nuance of those pesky laws and their technicality. “Yea even though trump didn’t technically incite we all know he did. Come like He said fight” if they had just convicted and impeached him for something he didn’t do we wouldn’t have this problem!!! Does this dude even hear himself speak? Let’s just Russia and vlad Putin him let’s just take out not the biggest political rival but the person who the majority of the country want to vote for!! And there is plenty of times I watch people with those dumb view and still get something out of the conversation. I’m guessing this guy has actually had minimal intellectual push back in his career. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was a legacy enrollment, he doesn’t have a brave thought in his body.. and does he actually write bidens state of the union how he said it and not favorably deciphering the gibberish his failing mind spews to the public. Sorry this one was a waste and I hate it because you and John are too important to have your time wasted and not convey atleast one thoughtful idea upon us yearning for the insights you may provide us .
A meritocracy is the only reasonable system with which to support equality of opportunity.
Economic assistance based on need is the only way to help equitably level the playing field without reinforcing the negative impacts of identity politics.
I've said this a million times - if one racial group is overall economically below another, then focus programs to help ALL the people in that low SEO group and you will by definition help that racial group more. But it won't be based on skin, and thus won't be racially divisive as any group's low SEO people can also benefit.
TDS.
Gay refused to condemn real genocide. Focus on her is appropriate.
He could be worse than Gay, knowledge wise
Boo this man.
I made it to 40 minutes. This man hates trump and will forgo his logical mind to come to a conclusion. Shame on you
And of course she was effective and she in no way felt compelled Claudine Gay and her colleagues us responded in such an idiot way. Do not put that on her
No we won’t Glenn
He's simply wrong... It is such a reach to consider an unarmed mob taking selfies inside the capitol building as a threat at the level of insurrection... Really...geez
C'mon Glenn, you have eyes and a brain.
A little advice when sharing your opinion on a paid sponsor Id recommend remembering it and not reading it. Kills the genuine feeling when reading from a prompter bub
Historians are trained to look at events in a certain way that when the same methodology is applied in the legal arena, they come up with incorrect conclusions. ...case in point .....the current guest
I just can't take it. these types would rather rule in hell.
This wasn't quite laughable but i was expecting much more substance from Kaiser. Disappointing
While I may disagree with David on some subjects, I do like hearing most of his discussions.
I hope he returns as a guest again in the future.
I don’t think that Gay needed to say anything that wasn’t written policy, which any elite academic could have memorized.
The problem sensors everyone’s speech except if it’s against Jews. You are talking about a campus that allows free speech.
Who wants presidential candidates under 78? I do!
amazing that people are so focused on Biden’s age. The concern of his being unfit due to his age. well, I am a bit concerned with his age as well. Yet, Trump is only slightly younger and UNFIT in so many ways. I would vote for a 100 year old Biden over Trump.
@m.g.3021 trumps people on the administration gave us reasonable policy. Bidens administration full of cultural marxists have given us a bowl full if bs and poor policies. Checks and balances prevent the first guy from large scale damage. They don't prevent the doddering mid onset dementia presidents minions from doing damage. While both are shit candidates, look at the policies their people give you. I have taken 18 aunts , uncles, parents thru aging and death. I have seen early onset dementia/firsthand and been part of it. It is seen daily in joe biden. He has no business holding office.
@@m.g.3021”in so many ways” lol go on. Or you can be like David here, and not actually provide any info. No one wants Biden. Democrats don’t want Biden. Your party of lunatics is pushing Biden on democrats. No one is pushing trump on republicans. In fact, both sides are trying their hardest to push trump away from even being allowed to run. But you think trump is unfit????
I was interested in this conversation until the guest brought up the " insurrection talk." Glenn handled it in fine form. I did however listen to the end. Intellectuals don't realize they can look silly when they Stray from facts and stridently profer their biases
Your guest just revealed himself to NOT be an actual intellectual but an uninformed propagandized individual.
Glen, I stumbled across your channel and so far I have been encouraged and inspired that there is hope for “low information” Americans. It strikes me as so odd how some of your guest are highly intelligent, knowledgeable, and esteemed members of academia. However, this particular guest that blatantly has no clue what was said by President Trump on Jan 6th. So for
all his opinions and the touting of his
Book is moot point for me.
It’s not cool what your saying it’s just not cool
He lost me at ethnic cleansing. The reason for homeless Gazans is that Hamas uses them and their homes as Human Shields....which is a war crime by the way.
Do not listen to this spin
It should be noted, that in the short existence of the
USA, only 17-20 years have been at peace!
We are a violent country, and our economy prospers from being in a state of constant conflict.
response to title: good riddance
after listening... good riddance
the only institutions that matter are those set forth in the constitution as an embodiment of the intent of the declaration of independence...any government run, or manipulated, institutions violating the constitution, or more importantly, the declaration of independence, should be dissolved and justice should be served wherever necessary to dissuade any future recurrence
