I am a retired police officer and have been spreading the footage that was leaked through the UK (because Minneapolis PD would not release it) and pointed out the "I cant breathe" statements while Floyd was standing up. I received a huge amount of hate and civilian friends defriended me for logically pointing this out.
I also attended FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) and local police academies and was taught the shoulder pin. I sent copies of the training materials showing the techniques to media and the general public, but no media would publish it, despite the police chief saying it was not taught. I used it and it works to keep a combative person from being hurt.
The whole trial is a sham and these officers who risked their lives every day were sent to jail due to political pressure.
If this can happen to police, how can anyone expect a fair trial.
I have risked my life for people of all skin colors (I don't believe in race) and weep for this miscarriage of justice. People have died in furtherance of the Floyd lie.
I volunteered to work poor and troubled communities not to arrest the suspects, but to help the victims. If police don't have support of the communities, death and destruction will follow.
Thank you for adding your voices, not for police or black community, but for truth, where ever it is.
As Booker T Washington once said, people are keeping racism alive because it pays.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the TRUTH!!!!
I watched the movie after hearing about it on the Megyn Kelly show. My husband is a retired State Police officer and was working at headquarters in Atlanta at that time. I was never as worried about him during his 28yr career as I was when he sent me a picture of him and dozens of officers standing shoulder to shoulder as rioters surrounded the Capital building demanding entry. It's amazing how the display at the US Capital on Jan 6th could possibly EVER be compared to the TOTAL destruction of the city of Minneapolis, the blatant disregard for state and private property over the WHOLE city and the violence and destruction that continued to take place all over the entire US because of 1 man. And to use your words, a miscreant who didn't deserve ANY type of recognition past putting him in the ground just like anyone else.
You gentlemen deserve a standing ovation for your honesty in the face of criticism, your truthful words in the face of racial bias. I pray for a change in the world we share with ALL races & religions. It needs to happen soon or I fear our freedom to stand up to hatred and bigotry will be consumed by the evil that created them.

"I can't breathe!", said George Floyd. I have heard at least 20 patients say the same thing after I gave them fentanyl prior to surgery. I am an Anesthesiologist. In 1980 the standard technique for Cardiac Anesthesia, anesthesia for heart surgery, was high dose fentanyl, ie 50 mcg per Kg body weight. Advantage: did not depress the heart. Disadvantage, and reason we no longer use the technique: required 3 days on a ventilator post-op.
If given too fast, the patient would develop a STIFF CHEST, and say, "I can't breathe!" As the chest wall stiffens, the sensation of not breathing becomes overwhelming and panic sets in, as we saw with Floyd.
Current Anesthesiologists have never experienced this side effect of fentanyl. Unless you were practicing in 1980, you would have never experienced this problem because we never give high dose fentanyl today.
Remember, Floyd was talking up until his death. You cannot talk if you are not breathing. The Policemen did not suffocate Floyd. Floyd died of a stiff chest, ie a reduction cardiac of output due to constriction of chest wall muscles preventing blood flow back to the heart. That is: Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose.

I sit here watching this as a cop in my 28th year of a 30 year career in the state of Michigan. All it takes is a google search and you can find one article after another on the state of police departments in America. The staffing shortages, the rush to retire, inability to hire and the disinterest in the profession by younger people. The results are in and crime statistics speak for themselves. The defund the police movement worked in ways that I don't think were originally intended. The cops pretty much defunded themselves. Everyone is leaving asap and no one is coming. Who really benefits from all this? Politicians and Criminals. The folks who need the police the most are the ones who will suffer the most.

We can start a covenant prayer for your daughter's mind. This stuff is very confusing by definition...and design. Even these two guys can't get to the end of it because motive reveals the truth. The highest prize was stolen through an election & this is just one of the cognitive barriers they've put up. I don't want to take away from the importance of your daughter's life - we have to focus on the lives we can touch - but so that you don't think I'm just whistling to be difficult... States are fully repealing the election results for exactly the reasons we knew about.
This play of deception moved many people to become spy's and agents, from dumping ballots to causing property damage - those agents would never have existed if it were not for this. A lie with a strategy is politics.

I can remember watching footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the original detainment of Mr. Floyd and immediately on him exiting his vehicle seeing signs that he was experiencing a medical emergency (agonal facial expressions, difficulty breathing, slumping and trouble standing still, etc.)

I have been an instructor trainer for police arrest control tactics for 43 years. I have been recognized as an expert witness in federal court and state and local courts in police control tactics and use of force e matters. The tactics used in the George Floyd case is an appropriate technique of control . The position of a grounded suspect prior to hand cuffing. The method of placing a knee on a struggling subjects shoulder is a primary technique to place hand cuffs .Verbal commands to the suspect are given to stop resisting. If the suspect continues to struggle the knee is to slide the knee to the back of the neck until struggling stops. The PPCT use of force company that is recognized nationally by police agencies teaches this technique used on struggling subjects. The technique does not cut off the breathing of the struggling subject. It has been tested on thousands of individuals and used by police for years.

The police body cam recordings were leaked about a month after the death. The Daily Mail covered it, but the mainstream media didn't for the most part. Anybody that witnessed that body cam recording could see that Floyd was crazy as a bedbug.

An Officer who tries to uphold the rule of law that is recorded usually have that recording altered and put on the internet or news to put Police in a negative light wish could lead to that Officer or Officers being persecuted or charged for something that didn't really happen as in the Floyd case. We as people need to stand up against the corrupt media and politicians that have caused the bulk of the problems that this country faces. If we stood against them as people did in the George Floyd case or the so-called BLM movement, imagine what we could change. The medias false narratives in most of what's reported is the main problem currently facing this country. In the “I can’t breathe” phenomenon: I am a 28 year veteran paramedic that did 4 out of 5 semesters of respiratory therapy school. There is a linguistic disconnect that trips up even medical professionals. What lay people call breathing, professionally is called ventilation. Ventilation is the act of moving air in and out of the lungs. Respiration is the act of gases moving in and out of the cells. There’s a few steps in between. If there’s an interruption in any of these steps it changes certain things in your body. The sensation of “I can’t breathe “ is sensed by Carbon dioxide sensors primarily, with Oxygen sensors being a secondary and receptors in your spinal fluid monitor your Ph. So, when someone say, “If they can talk, they can breathe “ is missing the larger picture. Being able to speak really just means his airway, which is from your lips to your lungs, is open for gas exchange. It means they are not being choked or strangled, and if there was enough pressure on the chest to stop air movement, you wouldn’t be able to speak. The vocal cords air about 1/3 of the way down the airways from the lips to the lungs and how you speak is by tightening the vocal cords while exhaling through them. So, when someone says they can’t breathe what they don’t mean they’re choking or being strangled. It means there is a derangement internally anywhere between the alveoli (where oxygen and carbon dioxide crosses from lung and blood) to the heart that pumps blood around, or in the blood cells that carries the gases, or at the cellular level where cells are fed oxygen and carbon dioxide is moved out of the cells.
I GF’s cases his heart was failing and that’s why he said, “I can’t breathe “. I see people I work with making the same mistake, that are medically trained. I certainly wouldn’t hold someone not trained to the same standard. We also have a problem in this country of assuming everyone is the same. Whether it’s race, gender or even professions. Everyone thinks that every doctor should know the same thing and they get confused when different doctors say different things. Remember this, to hammer everything looks like a nail. If you’re a racist, the answer to every question is racism.

As a paramedic, I imagine you've seen some ODs. Have you ever seen someone OD and die while wide awake, as they're claiming happened to Floyd? Every description of overdose I see out there imply that one will go on the nod and lose consciousness before the respiratory suppression becomes complete enough to kill them. I've seen my husband get this "wooden chest" from morphine while in the hospital, but he was also suffering from severe and near-fatal pneumonia and he still survived that chest feeling.

I'm a retired police officer. The arrest control hold that these officers were using on Floyd absolutely WAS a technique that was taught and authorized by many departments. I was taught this hold in 3 different city and county agencies that I worked for.
If the media had allowed the entire video, from the beginning, you can see Floyd walking around and claiming he can't breathe BEFORE the officers are even touching him. He couldn't breathe because the fentanyl he took was slowly decreasing his ability to breathe. That's what fentanyl does. It tells your brain to stop breathing.
I believe that Derek Chauvin, as a senior officer, should have gotten off of Floyd and sat him up until the paramedics arrived.
The defense had a medical examiner testify that Floyd had over a lethal dose of fentanyl in his system at his time of death. The prosecutors medical examiner was only saying that he died from asphyxiation, which is ALSO a symptom of fentanyl overdose as well. Floyd did not die from having his airway obstructed by Chauvin's knee. He died from overdosing on fentanyl.
Shame on his department for committed perjury on the stand by testifying that his department did not teach or authorize that arrest control hold.

I believe the issue isn’t so much about whether he followed proper procedure or not. By not releasing the hold sooner he is partially responsible for Floyd’s death. He probably didn’t cause the death, but he might have been able to prevent it. Makes zero sense he had to hold him down for so long and some sort of punishment is warranted. Thanks for your insights from the inside on this. I really appreciate the conversation between Glenn and John.

I would actually posit that he likely died from excited delirium considering that they refused to let him up off of his stomach, and he had a tumor on his adrenal gland that was more likely to cause his body to overproduce the catecholamines responsible for positional asphyxiation/excited delirium deaths.
The levels of illicit drugs and his system were high but not out of line with what you would expect to see in an individual with a high tolerance.
Mistakes were made in that interaction and that arrest. The officers taunting Floyd, while he's pinned down and crying for his mother, with comments of "So you're a big/tough guy, huh?". Refusing to move Floyd into the recovery or seated position once restrained and compliant. The fact that all of the other officers failed to abide by their duty to intercede. Their complete lack of emotional intelligence and ability to recognize that Floyd was not violent or aggressive, but terrified. Their lack of mental agility and critical thinking skills were stunning.
So should Eric Chauvin have been charged with murder? No. But negligent homicide would have been a very appropriate charge. There's no way that everyone in this case should have gone unpunished, but the punishments levied were not appropriate to the situation, and this encounter was filled to the brim with teachable moments for other law enforcement officers.

I had high hopes for a 'racial unifier' when Barrack Obama announced his candidacy for President. Then, during his campaign, I became worried about his ability bring people together. But it was during his presidency that I realized the truth, and clearly see now how much Obama left (and even accelerated) a legacy of fomenting racism and division. He enabled an "Us" vs. "Them" narrative that, instead of encouraging harmony and love, stoked hate, fear, and cynicism which caused many Americans to adopt the 'Oppressed/Oppressor' theme that permeates our society (especially our schools and universities), and that tries to color the lens of how we see each other. Sadly, Joe Biden is continuing to sow that division through his angrily-toned rhetoric.

I'm infinitely glad that your experience was devoid of racism, but one person's anecdotal evidence cannot be extrapolated to the entire career field (obv this goes for my own experience as well).
I can tell you that I have seen racism in the field. I have seen discompassion and inhumanity towards many races, but especially black individuals, and particularly the black homeless population. I have heard officers casually say things about their black coworkers when they thought it was safe that shocked me. I have seen officers purposely injure "suspects" in custody only to discover that the person had done nothing wrong, and then excuse their behavior afterwards by minimizing the person's importance due to their race or socioeconomic status.
People, even police and police adjacent individuals, can have some of the most disgusting attitudes you could imagine, and far too many of them are good at concealing it.
What is worse now, is that because of the defund the police movement, the behavior is tolerated because there are so few officers left in so many places. They can't afford to fire the bad ones. The good officers are leaving because they're afraid of how their lives could be impacted by these narratives, but the bad ones have nothing to lose and they're going to ride this train until the wheels fall off, because they know that they'll ultimately be protected by the union and the department, and at the end of that tunnel there is a fat pension with their name on it.
This field has changed so much in the past 10 years, and none of it has been positive. I've thought about getting out several times. The only thing that keeps me working is the idea that if I and others like myself leave, who is left to hold the line and shine light on the dark areas? If I leave, knowing that those individuals are on the force, am I partially culpable for not staying and pushing for accountability? It's a thought that weighs heavily on many good officers these days, I'm sure

As life long residents of the Twin Cities, my wife and I knew from the very beginning that the police officers were not guilty of murder, or even negligent homicide, in the death of George Floyd, but that it would not matter. The facts of the case were actually clear, almost from the getgo. The Hennepin County Coroner ruled that Floyd was not asphyxiated, that he died from a combination of drugs and preexisting conditions. How were the officers supposed to know that? The pathologist who did the second autopsy was hired by the family of George Floyd. He was paid to say that Floyd died of asphyxiation, so, hardly the independent, disinterested professional that the Hennepin County Coroner was. That the restraint that Derek Chauvin exercised on Floyd was part of police training was broadcast on the local news, as were the recordings of the police body cams. This may have been new information to the men in this video, but all of it was known locally before the start of the trials. It didn't matter. Truth is not relevant to most of the people who live in the Twin Cities. Most of them do not have a category for objective truth in their thinking
It was also obvious that the police officers could not get a fair trial in Hennepin County, but there was no chance at all that a change of venue would be granted. Minneapolis is a one-party city, and has been for twenty-five years. The last non-DFL (Democrat Farmer Labor Party, a coalition put together by Hubert Humphrey in 1944) to hold elective office in Minneapolis retired in 1998.
The DFL party fosters the perception of racism far beyond what has actually been the case in Minnesota. And yes, I know about the three black men who were lynched in Duluth in 1920. That event is most notable in our Minnesota history precisely because it is unique. The DFL keeps the perception of racism alive in order to scare black voters into voting for them. They are all for programs that keep poor people dependent on the government, but when it comes to programs that could actually help poor families escape poverty, like school vouchers could help poor parents get their children into better schools, the DFL is against them.
Since this is the way the DFL works, the political pressure to prevent a change of venue started early and was pervasive. The fortification of the Hennepin County Government Center is evidence that the prosecutors and political leaders knew the case against the officers was weak. If the case had been absolutely compelling, there would be no reason to fear a not-guilty verdict and fortification of the Government Center would have been unnecessary.
The jurors, having just experienced riots and massive destruction of property, not all of which has been cleaned up three and a half years later, were afraid to render anything but guilty verdicts. This case was never about whether the police officers were guilty of any crime; it was always about preventing more riots. The legal system in Minnesota did not care whether justice was done, they were concerned with the aftermath if justice had been done. They were willing to sacrifice four innocent police officers to their fears.

Thank you for speaking the truth. I’m in tears, two men are finally telling the truth. So wrong, so wrong. Thank you Mr. Glenn. I want to hug you for your words and emotion. Speaking the truth, one is called names!

Yes, Fentanyl in high doses is very tricky, very individual. Now we are giving more Narcan but they did not know what and how much he took, what his O2 saturation was . They had no ambu bag with oxygen. I doubt they could do a good chin tilt and jaw thrust or put a oral airway in untill he could be reversed and or incubated. It's sometimes challenging for professionals let alone a inadequately trained police force. They can't be expected to be health care professionals. It's not fair to their profession and as it wouldn't be fair to have mandatory police trying for Healthcare workers. Yes give them some training to help untill the ambulance arives but Floid overdosed. If Floyd didn't overdose and the police had a crystal ball to see his past he would still be alive.

@@morrismims5327 It is amusing how you make a point of refusing to admit understanding. Now you, of course, *don't* have any understanding of this, as you've likely never had a role in society that requires you do deal with our criminal underclass, but there is a reason people like that get treated the way they do: They fight, they lie, and they don't cooperate with police in the commission of their crimes. They need to be restrained, and police need to be told how it's acceptable to restrain them. Chauvin was trained to do that, so he did it.

@@johnmoore5293 cops have Narcan. And bringing someone back isn't hard. Narcan nasal spray & CPR. I've brought back a dozen individuals and have basic training unlike cops who receive more than adequate training. And he was perfectly coherent until he was left on his stomach with his hands cuffed behind his back. a position known to cause sudden asphyxia. In 1995 the Justice Department told departments in training materials "As soon as the suspect is handcuffed, get him off his stomach.” So why was Mr Floyd kept in that position for almost 10 minutes. The fentanyl didn't kill Mr Floyd, leaving him in a dangerous position for over 10 minutes did.

@@morrismims5327 the arguments in this video is even more dishonest because while the press made a big deal about Chauvin's knee on his neck. But that was never the real problem. Leaving someone in the prone position with their hands cuffed behind their back has been known to be really dangerous for decades. In 1995 the Department of Justice told police departments in training materials "As soon as the suspect is handcuffed, get him off his stomach.” Even without Chauvin's body weight the position in known to potentially cause sudden asphyxia. Michael Brown was in this position for 10 seconds and it killed him. What possible excuse could someone have for keeping a person in a dangerous high risk position for 10 minutes.

AN American peace officer? Many are doing jail in this case, not only one. And although that is reprehensible, it's also an understatement. They let the country burn. and people died in the riots of 2020. Democrats bailed the rioters out and called Republicans evil. One political party is killing this country on purpose. And now they are literally using the law to do this to Trump and LOTS of average American citizens. These government actors need to go, but have literally rigged the elections, and divested their duties to unelected people.

It's all on the Internet/UA-cam. Better still, read the coroners report - it says that GF died from a heart attack brought on by the police officer kneeling on his neck ... however, in the same report no supportive physical evidence on the body(trauma in the neck) definitively corroborates the neck constraint being the causative effect. Many other factors (including the drugs in his system could have brought on the heart attack) including his aggrieved and distraught state may have caused the same. There is a lot of evidence suggesting that the trial was directed to a certain conclusion not least of which because of the societal carnage that would have occurred had the verdict gone the other way. The hysteria in society that has come to the fore In the last decade is akin to the Salem Witch Trials - the morass of the mad demanded a certain verdict ... and got it! @@jammiegolson7171
