I think it is reasonable to say he acted in self-defense. Imagine you were being in that situation, where a bunch of People push you into the water and start hitting you. I also don't think he intended to kill anybody. Those are the consequences of actions these kids joyfully indulged.
They knocked him down in the water and hit him in the face... BEFORE he pulled the knife. Not saying he is right, and should have walked away, but still every kid that mocked and pushed him carries blame.
I think these teens were all on something as you can hear them laughing hysterically They tormented him so he retaliated I don't believe he's lying because when someone is traumatized they may have trouble recalling events and become confused They are all claiming they are victims but why did they swarm him and harass him physically and verbally Of course there are more of them so they will collaborate each other's stories and people should realize that Reality is they pushed a man to his limits and he fought back

Everything about this is wrong. Alcohol and fear do not make for a good outcome. Bottom line, he should have walked away.

y’all blaming the kids when this grown man lied multiple times during his interrogation. even going so far as to lie about the kids having weapons and the girl he slapped throwing the first punch. started his interview with straight lies and never stopped. yes, the kids were being kids and they could have acted better but to say they were asking to be stabbed and even murdered? shame on you.
