I am back from my long hiatus with another iceberg video. If you have any suggestions on what should be added, feel free to leave it in the comments. Thanks for watching!
Yosuke's romance being cut hurts my soul. It actively improves his character arc because his struggling with gay feelings acts as a perfect answer to why Kanji's struggle with affection towards Naoto (before her gender reveal) and the general gayness of Kanji's dungeon made Yosuke uncomfortable and literally no one else to the same degree as him. IT JUST PROVIDES MORE DEPTH. All desire to date Yosuke aside, it immediately nerfs his development as a character to only know about this side of him in the meta and maybe some jokes in the spin-offs. Second, while I don't watch Game Theory videos anymore, Teddie being Yu's Shadow will honestly forever be my headcanon. Like, nothing is more perfect to me than the wild, free, and ultimately open and not-sure-if-innocent-or-perverted personality like Teddie's being the secret side hidden in the stoic and flat self-insert playable character that only has a personality if you choose from a certain set of options at any given time. It's just too perfect. I don't care if the theory is seen as bad or canon is overlooked - imo, it would be a far more digestible and entertaining route to go down. Also, I was honestly expecting a mention of the certain side of the fanbase (whether we want to acknowledge them or not) that reads Naoto as a failed transman character, and her story being one of ultimately detransitioning (which said fans also hate). Like, canonically she internalized the image of the ideal detective being male so much that she felt uncomfortable seeing herself as a woman, and her route is one of her accepting herself. But no, to some people, Japan's conservatism mixed with their surplus of crossdressers translates to them seeing said crossdressing characters as "trans, but the writers didn't know how to write a trans story because they're transphobic as all hell", often mentioned in the same breath as Danganronpa's Chihiro Fujisaki. You can't set foot in either fandom's community without happening across this little scuffle. (If you're unfamiliar with Chihiro's story, this is SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA 1 CHAPTER 2, but basically, he started crossdressing because he was so feminine that he got harassed for being girly when he lived as a boy. But of course, no one harasses him when dressed as a girl because, presuming no one from before that knew him, no one picks on who they think is a girl for being girly. Ultimately he wants to move past this, get strong, and start presenting himself as a man again. But of course, people read this and decided to interpret it as a badly-written trans story too. Pretty infuriating seeing a chapter centered around men's issues and expectations placed on men and see it called poorly-written because of the way THEY perceive the character, not gonna lie.)
@@TheRogueRenegade So I've only just binged through the hundred hours to beat P5R and get the ending from P5 (I accidentally dropped Maruki at rank 7 and never ranked Akechi at all because I was more focused on maxing my social stats so no True Ending for me just yet), and funnily enough I had been discussing the P5 timeline split just an hour ago, and my theory on it (without having seen the True Ending) is that Maruki's involvement with Joker somehow prevents the root cause of Strikers, and Maruki didn't go to Shujin in P5 because Kasumi hadn't either. P5R is just that perfect storm of wanted nails to shut the lid on whatever kicks off the Strikers plot. I'm probably wrong, but then again I'm mainly basing my theory off the "There Are No Therapists" trope that was snugly enmeshed with P5 originally.
Dont know if anyone said this but reason they made the persona 3 party members uncontrollable is to imitate you are fighting alongside real people and make them stand out another way they do this is through sickness and each character not wanting to go tartarus at certain points.
@@TheRogueRenegade if you download the DLC pack for Royal and level up having equipped either persona there is a small chance it will play. Can confirm have heard it
The thing is with Joker parents in Japan being in probation is a very shameful thing so his parents not contacting him isnt surprising since it does happen irl where in Japan people being in probation dont get contacted by family members since its an embarrassment and very shameful
What I thought of was that Joker's parents were government officials. That's how they knew who Sojiro was, and them not contacting him was away from hurting their rep as government officials.
@@orpheustogami4336 Last time I checked, Joker's parents know Sojiro through a regular at his shop. If they were government officials, I doubt they wouldn't have been able to do anything about Joker's probation
To sum this up since it was a bit of a mouthful There is a stigma in Japan where being associated to a family member who has been in prison or convicted of a crime is bad. Which is sad considering Japan is guilty until proven innocent, even then family members still will typically ignore their former loved ones after they are charged.
Seriously. Look at that one Japanese survivor from the Titanic. Instead of being happy that he survived, he was ridiculed and shamed for _not_ dying with everyone else. Japan definitely went a little overboard with their traditional patriotic values ( -and sometimes still do- ).
I've also read that originally they had planned for your relationship with those characters to effect their combat potential, since it was a new system at the time, and they wanted to flesh it out more.
Here's a recurring detail in the Persona series that I think would have been warranted to mention (unless it was and I just zoned out at the time). Each game's main rival Persona user (if it has one) acts as an inverse of the protagonist. Persona 3: Takaya looks Jesus and starts a doomsday cult. He is a false prophet whose ideology is that the future doesn't matter and that apathy should rain supreme. Makoto's ultimate Persona essentially IS Jesus and he makes the ultimate sacrifice just like Jesus did. While he doesn't have the same kind of charismatic influence Takaya does, his ideology of living for the future is what saves all of humanity. Persona 4: Adachi went through life without forming bonds with other people, only focusing on what would land him the best position in society (which ends up not working). As a result, he is a jaded and cynical individual. Yu parallels this by choosing to enjoy life and spend time with friends whenever he can, and he is anything but cynical about life. Persona 5: Near the beginning of the game, Igor warns Joker not to form superficial relationships, to which Joker obeys. All of Joker's relationships are genuine bonds with other people, even if they don't start out that way. He's able to make many friends very easily despite his position as a social outcast. Akechi is the exact opposite. ALL of his relationships, except for his one with Joker, are superficial- He uses the media to gain fame and he's only getting close to Shido for the purpose of eventually killing him. Akechi is beloved by society, but has no friends at all. You could probably make a case for Tatsuya and Joker as well, although their parallels are a little less clear.
In Persona 1 happened something similar but instead of being the protagonist ( Naoya Toudou, Boy with earring, etc ) it happens with Nanjo ( one of the obligatory party members of the sebec route ) and Kandori ( the antagonist )
I personally think that the reason that you can't control your party in p3 and fes, is because they wanted to make them seem like actual people, not just you but with different abilitys. Since basically everyone basically hated it, they gave you actual control in portable
@@Skallva I mean honestly I'm not seeing that much of a difference other than the ability to control your party and improved experience share systems, which I appreciate. There were some mechanics added to P5 to go with the whole "Phantom Thieves" thing, but nothing exclusive to P3 to pine over really comes to mind. Except getting tired... and I don't miss that either.
“When you summon a person you also summon then in real life” oh wow i can’t wait to see the live action adaption of Shakespeare’s midsummer’s night dream -proceeds to summon titania and oberon
@@arbatel8648 well, at least both Titania and Oberon are actually the same ones from Shakespeare’s play, and on persona 3 she and Oberon share a fusion spell called “Summer dream” which is literally a reference to the play
People say Ren look generic but Yu literally has the bowl haircut that a ton of people have (especially during CNY.) Even my friend admits that he has that haircut.
The "Cycle" is synonymous with the Fool's Journey. Once the Fool completes their journey and reaches fulfillment with the World, they do not stop growing - the Fool will soon start a new journey with all of the understanding and accomplishments from their last journey. This is why New Game Plus is such an integral part of the Persona franchise; when you start over, all of your accomplishments (social stats, social link items, and personas) carry over into your next playthrough or "cycle".
Philemon still exists within the universe but decided not to get involved with humans. It's complicated to explain without spoilers but he still watches over the members of the velvet room
More like he cannot interfere anymore due to being weakened after creating new timeline in P2 IS, he is only partially exist in P2 EP and eventually exist only as blue butterfly in the next trilogy.
If it makes anyone feel better, the whole situation where people were calling The World Ends With You a Persona ripoff is actually mostly false (aside from a tiny sampling of real cases). The whole situation only became a thing on Twitter because non-Persona fans were trolling TWEWY fans and other people took it way too seriously. Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed this video as much as I did!
@@TheRogueRenegade well. No. It's still shin megami tensei in Japan. Megami tensei is the first two games in the series Digital devil story megami tensei and digital devil story megami tensei 2. And then the series as a whole is megaten, which counts persona in there too. At least I think... I could be wrong. Anyway this video was great!
@@TheRogueRenegadeso what i gather from a quick search is 1. Megami Tensei is the name of the series as a whole based on the novel of "Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei" 2. MegaTen is a fan made abbreviation 3. Shin Megami Tensei was originally a apinoff of MegaTen in Japan 4. The name Shin Megami Tensei in the west was used on many games (like persona 4 for example to market megami tensei) To sum it up the series is megami tensei, a spin-off series of megami tensei is shin megami tensei Persona is a spinoff of megami tensei and not shin megami tensei, but in the west, everything is shin megami tensei after smt 3 Edit: basically, in Japan persona is only megami tensei. Shin megami tensei is onky what we now know as mainline smt
Oh hey, that's my iceberg on the right at 0:19 Thanks for giving it some attention, I didn't really figure anyone would really care about it. Great video, really appreciate that you kept the name "The Forbidden McDonald's", that really made me laugh when I came up with it. Some minor corrections/specification - ."Akechi alive in the true ending" was specifically about the post credits scene which shows him possibly alive in the crowd at the train station. That's why I used it as the image for the top layer. ."Loki's mouth" was meant to reference the fact that Loki's model has the inside of his mouth modeled and textured, with him having pointy red teeth, but none of his animations have him open it .Mouse Crow also has some unused voice clips of him squeaking, and they are extremely blesed . "Unused Smash songs" was partly in reference to the unremixed tracks, and partly to the fact that Life Will Change played in his reveal trailer but wasn't included in the game itself. I think this is the only time a smash character has their reveal trailer song not included in their dlc .If you think the protagonist name confusion you listed in the video is bad, EVERY. SINGLE. PRODUCTION. Of the Persona 5 Stage Play gave Joker a different name. If you count the Stage Play as canon, Joker EASILY has the highest number of canon names. The MT wiki doesn't even list them all anymore, they just shortened it to "And many others". I still have a screencap from before they got rid of the whole list, and I cherish it. .Test_Size appears to be a model of a woman who appears in some very early concept art riding in a sports car next to Joker. That's where the theory of her originally being the female protagonist came from. ."Persona 5 Portable" was just my way of including the Switch version, it is kinda weird that Royal is the only updated rerelease to not be on a portable console ."P5R is the finished game" was just a joke suggestion from my friend I just sorta randomly decided to include .If you're wondering why the entry about the Kamoshida's palace nude statues is phrased as "Kamoshida nude model" , it's just because I thought it was funny. .P5D has an unused song listing for Whims of Fate. A remix of the song is one of Makoto's tracks, and a live performance of it is a dlc track, but the original isn't included. Since Akechi is heavily associated with Sae's Palace, it likely was meant to be his second track. P5D Akechi also has a TON of unused voice clips for outfit reactions and dance commentary. .Futaba DOESN'T commit suicide if you miss her Palace deadline. This was a false rumor that spread when the English translation was just coming out. The rumor said that in the original Japanese version Futaba commits suicide, but it was censored in the English version to her just following through with her promise of reporting you if you don't help her. In reality, the game over is the same in both versions. .Ok not from my iceberg, but I think the "Canon love interest" thing MIGHT be a reference to P3D since, iirc, a couple social cutscenes reference Fuuka's romance route (specifically her attempts at cooking) while the other girls don't get any such references. That version I posted of the iceberg to Reddit was specifically a blury screenshoted version to make it seem more *spooky* or *mysterious* or something. In hindsight, that was pretty dumb. I still have the clean png, so maybe I'll post it somewhere if that's something someone would want to see. Again, great video. 👍
Thank you! And thank you for clearing all those up! I had to turn up the contrast and brightness on your iceberg, so I think it'd be a good idea to release an unblurred one

It's funny, I actually had been thinking about redoing the P5 iceberg since back when I made this, I didn't actually own Royal. Probably not much point to that now, but who knows. My little sister and I would read the Persona 3 manga in a library around half an hour or so away from us, it was in English and we would borrow two and return them and get the next two. We never finished because school started back up and the pandemic happened, I don't know if they have all of the chapters, they do have a lot of them but I don't know if it is all of them.
@@TheRogueRenegade I went again recently, what's weird is that I can't find the third volume even though I know I have borrowed it before. The pandemic made it hard to go to the library but I managed now that it's safer in my area. I think they do have all of them aside from the third I just mentioned.
Btw, the reason the bad ends for p5 work the way they do is that the protagonist has a lapse and fails to remember everything, thus leading to Akechi succeeding in killing you. The bad ends for the characters don't happen canonically, its just that you fail to remember correctly by completing the section.
26:20 Evangelion did the same happy music with sad and miserable lyrics Well the world did..... Spoilers... spoilers... in that anime sooo yeah 🎵🎶🎶And it's tumbling down tumbling down tumbling down letting me down letting me down letting me down🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵
Seems like it's just a good way to set the mood I suppose. I feel like it's more common than we realize though. I'm sure there's plenty more examples that just don't come to mind 🤔
35:38 It's also worth mentioning that while Philemon is implied to be the butterfly throughout the Persona series, in Persona 5 it's explicitly revealed to be Lavenza communicating with Joker even while she's been split into Caroline and Justine. This probably is only for Persona 5 though, I don't think Atlus intends to "retcon" Persona 1 or 2 outside of just generally not acknowledging them much. Not a mistake, but just thought it was worth mentioning.
@@krimsonkatt You joke, but can you imagine if the Megami Tensei series was on evangelicals' radar during the Satanic Panic of the 90's? They went after freaking POKEMON, SMT would've made them burst a capillary.
@@ExaltedUriel I'm not joking. I'm 100% serious. Also, I WISH SMT was on evengelicals radar in the 90s, because they would have given SMT HELL! None of the games got localized tho until Nocturne in 2003-2005, so by then the SP had already ended. Pokemon is literally one if the most kid-friendly franchises (though it has mild fanservice and some suggestive themes and dark plotlines, surprised not more of the games were rated E10+.) and if they went after it, they would go after anything. They would probably RAGE at Mario Odyssey because Mario is able to crossdress in that game. Same goes for BotW. (Though it's played at lot more seriously because Link can actually pass) If they can go after E rated nintendo games, I can't even imagine what they would do with SMT. Heck, that and Nintendo's strict policy on religeous content in the 80s and 90s is probably why no Megaten game got localized until the PS2. Revelations Persona was heavily altered, Jack Bros was a harmless spin-off, and Eternal Punishment was localized not Innocent Sin which has the blasphemy and Hitler in it, plus all of megaten were relatively obscure until Persona 5 so it's unlikely evangelicals would ever hear of it like they did with Pokemon.
The persona Armageddon timeline theory It going to be a mouthful Almost every smt game take place either pre or post apocalypse setting that mean the persona timeline is just delaying the inevitable In smt 1 the world was nuke by thor because of yhvh so he can cleanse the world and by the time smt 2 ended the world is basically dead because it was flooded Raidou Kuzunoha the 40th was depressed he failed to save Tokyo since it was his family duty to protect it So he decided to go back in time to 1931 to alter history so he can prevent the smt 1 apocalypse Unfortunately Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th wasn't going have none of that since it would mean the destruction of his Tokyo Raidou 14th then banished raidou 40th from 1931 to the time stream never to return to his future but raidou 40th plan sorta worked He was able to prevent the apocalypse to happen in 1992( the year smt 1 happen) but it was only delay to 1999 the setting for persona 2 It's possible that smt if was ground zero where the demon portal came from in smt and this is similar how mt and strange journey started with its demon invasion In persona 2 the antagonists mask circle want to form a utopia by making rumor come to life and one rumor cause the town to be spare from the world being consumed into darkness thus fulfilling the prophecy that world will be destroyed so yhvh 1000 kingdom will only exists in the new world( sorta ) Ok here where things get interesting Everyone know that philemon and Nyarlathotep made a bet that humanity can surpass their chaotic nature or give in to the darkness from this new timeline But since Nyarlathotep cheated in persona 2 IS , philemon ask yhvh to give humanity a second chance and i guess yhvh agree but because tatsuya broke philemon promise to forget the events of p2IS , Nyarlathotep was able to cause humanity to falter in the new timeline of p2 EP and then he got banished by the new p2 crew And once again philemon ask yhvh to give another chance but this time with some harsh conditions philemon will be restrained from interacting with earth affairs but he was able to have igor take his place and for IS tatsuya he will live the rest of his life in the apocalyptic p2IS world as his enternal punishment also to have the next messiah die for the last fallen messiah innocent sin so humanity can be spare And then persona 3 happens because all the dead souls from persona 2IP cross over to the new timeline from persona 2EP that gave erebus a power boost to ask nyx to kill humanity and it also explain why it have two heads It seem like at this point humanity is barely surviving each test and it seem like something happens to yhvh in persona 5 Eventually the next messiah will fail to save the world and the prophecy will happen just like it happen in smt 1
@@purplespectre Never though about it like that, you have some deep knowledge in persona??? Do you think we will ever see the P1 and 2 cast ever again??
15:02 actually the symbolism to Persona 5's Velvet Room was distorted by Yabaldaoth, originally Joker would be the warder giving punishment to other people instead of him being incarcerated
1:46 fun fact: in the screenshots of the PS2 Persona 4 manual Yu Narukami is named Raidou Kuzunoha, this is subtle reference to the main character of the Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha games whose name coincidentally happens to be “Raidou Kuzunoha”.
The reason Akihiko's line came up so much was probably because when the protagonist in p4 and p5 trigger an All-Out Attack, it goes to the next party member with the highest speed stat
My answer to why it took so long for Okumura to die is The scene we see Akechi shoot his shadow is actually around the time the Phantom Theives have their party to welcome Haru But, we are shown the scene immediately after the team leaves is to tell us the P-theives DIDN'T kill him this guy did Cause, why would Joker know that the black mask was in the palace while he was out of the palace. My thought is this Akechi has the ability to delay the Collapse of the Palace to complete his own Mission There are two Veriants of each Palace, the Steal the Treasure form of the Palace to fix the psyche And then there's the Assassination form where Akechi just appears in the boss room and fires a single bullet
Okay so about the Naoto and P3MC thing I actually have a theory about this and I got so excited thinking someone else might have noticed. This’ll probably get buried but I have to get this all out. I genuinely believe that Naoto and Minato can be brother and sister. First off let’s go over their ages. Minato is 16 in 2009 while Naoto is 15 in 2011, meaning there’d be a three year age gap between two. Now, the incident with Death happened 10 years before P3 and Thats also the point that Minato’s parents are killed. Naoto also lost her parents when she was very young, allegedly in a car accident. So what if Naoto and Minato’s parents had to do a job in Iwatodai, and they took Minato with them, but had to leave Naoto behind for whatever reason. The Moonlight Bridge incident happens and it’s covered up by the Kirijo group as some sort of car accident. Naoto goes on to live with their grandfather while Minato goes on to live with a random family member.
Small things that I think can be added: -Sumire also has a rat design if I'm not wrong. I believe you can find them being used in DismArchus' YT channel. He hacked the game so you could take her and Akechi into Shido's palace and they become rats as well. - While Joker doesn't have a "Canon" pairing it's possible that the cheater event of February 15 is Canon. The DLC for Catherine is basically a level where you play as Joker with the PT commenting as you play, and one of the lines is them mentioning that only cheaters go to that place, there's some other lines that point towards that. - At least in UA-cam you can sometimes find jokes about Persona 5 the animation taking place in a new game+. The strongest "evidence" is that during the Shido boss battle, Joker uses Yoshitsune, who is impossible to use at that point of the game unless you are in NG+ (to fuse Yoshitsune you need Morgana's confidant to be at rank 10, which can only happen after defeating the baldy). Other evidence is that Joker one shots Akechi with fucking Arsene of all things, and that Shido was defeated with only 3 of Jokers' attacks. I'll edit more things if I remember anything else.
31:37 When he starts talking about jojo and persona parallels, i thought it should also be mentioned that shido is VERY similar to the antagonist of part 5, that being diavolo, in how they see themselves as a chosen person to be at the top.
Part 5, and Persona 5 also focus on societal outcasts, who are engaged in crime. The MC’s of both fives, are also trying to make the world a better place, through their criminal positions.
@@Kaisona2017 Thats actually a really good point. I didnt even think of that. Its also kind of interesting to think of how both teams had a traitor, more specifically for jojo, that fugo was originally planned to be a traitor by araki, but later instead scrapped the idea and had him simply leave the team, and of course for persona 5 their traitor was our favorite pancake detective.
Haru recovery speed over her father is explained in Persona 5 Strikers where she knowledges that her suppression of her father was because she didn’t want to face his death and pushed back her memories so much she forgot a close friend “ Maruki” and this explains her relapse a lot better
12:15 I don’t think what’s being said is necessarily true. They didn’t really just bring him back. The whole point of his arc during Maruki’s palace was that he kinda realized that he is dead, which suggests that it was Joker’s wish to bring him back, like how Futaba got her mom, Morgana became human, and how Ann wished for Shiho to be better. You don’t see him after you beat Maruki because he is dead.
Correct. Much of the point is that Akechi as a construct realises he is and is still willing to sacrifice himself again. Because when you beat Maruki he will also die again
I cannot believe you mentioned the P3 Club Book without touching on the lore about Nyx being an ancient alien, the progenitor of all supernatural activity on earth, and death not existing on earth before it showed up isn’t on here. It’s definitely the most insane Persona thing I know of (honestly not even most Megaten fans as a whole know this one even though someone put it on the wikia a while back) Also, there is one canon love interest - Jun and Tatsuya is pretty clearly meant to be the “canon” romance in P2 seeing as they have unique alterations to the story that the others don’t.
I was just scrolling through UA-cam and then heard you start speaking and went "OH! The guy who did the Pokemon Iceberg! Why wasn't I subscribed to him yet?" Glad to see you still making some solid iceberg videos pal!

Ayyyy thanks for using parts of my dumb iceberg. I really made it on a whim so I didn't add as much as I wanted to, but I'm glad it was worthy of a video.
I heard someone say that the issue with Haru and screen time is not really the problem considering characters like Kasumi and Akechi had less screen time, but are far more popular and impactful. Which thinking about it, rings pretty true. Haru is a pretty forgettable character because her interactions with the other characters don't stand out much due to her meek personality and her whole story is pretty much all about daddy issues (about a father who sold her an abusive man no less) and she never overcomes her problems on her own, someone comes along and fixes it for her. If she does get more screen time then you're likely going to get the same stuff.
Kasumi and especially Akechi get a lot more screentime than Haru even if they do become playable characters later, I'm not sure how you could think otherwise
@@GlitchyPixExtra Haru's interactions are very forgettable so it's understandable if you think/feel that way. I couldn't get her name right sometimes even after playing NG+ because her presence was so insignificant. Besides it doesn't really matter whether, or not you're right/wrong about that. The writers don't really use Haru effectively as a character.
Fast forward to February of 2024 and what do we have? We got persona 3 portable, 4 golden, and 5 royal on the switch, and we got Persona 3 Reload as well.
...this is an Iceberg video? This really is just random trivia and memes a lot of older fans already knows. Most other Iceberg video I saw gets into some really obscure stuff. I'm pretty sure Fither's video talked about more obscure stuff than this Iceberg video.
Yeah, as someone who really enjoys Persona and Jojo, you were pretty spot on with the comparisons you’ve made, kinda makes me wonder if Jojo did influence some aspects of the persona series, since it did release somewhere in the 90’s as a manga way before the first Persona game.
Actually, it was more a coincidence, the idea behind persona is that they're kinda of a projection of their user's personalities, thus are themselves, I think that stands are more like powers within the user and personas have this and the more "mirroring" aspect
Yeah, I also think it's a coinky dink that Jojo's stands and Personas are awfully similar. But hey, I'd really love to see what uploader said about the persona staff fanboying over Jojo
I can't find the source, but I remember reading an interview with one of the devs where he said they didn't let you control your party in P3 to try and get you to rely on your party members more or something? Some very weird explanation but that's what he said
About Haru's recovery speed, I don't think she actually got over all that stuff, and more than she just bubbles it all up inside and tries to ignore it and put on the facade of someone who is happy. This is shown by how she actually confronts her trauma over her dad's death in Strikers, but yeah that wasn't released at the time

I disagree with the ascribed symbolism behind the Velvet Room in Persona 5. Rather than society's view on him, it is his view on society as the Velvet Room is a creation and/or influenced manifestation of any protagonist's own psyche and nobody else's (i.e. a place that exists between dreams and reality); this being due to the power of the Wild Card allowing Igor or the Velvet Room to come in contact with the holder rather than the simple possession of a persona (hence why no other persona users apart from Wild Cards are aware of its existence, as an example, Ryuji commenting on how Ren spaced out during his visit to the Room; reinforcing the concept of a mental construction. Another important thing to mention is that the Room attendants are also influenced by the bearers). Thus, it represents his inner turmoil over being bound by society, yet another important element present in this manifestation of the societal prison is the concept of a panopticon. This, in and of itself, represents how he is aware of the eye of society on him, that is to say, he is always being watched due to the stigma attached to him; the expectations and prejudice assigned to him due to rumors being spread. At first, it also represents the inability (or perceived inability) to fight back against his fate, as he cannot refuse "Igor's" rehabilitation or his "fate" in general, or the criminal charges despite harboring both innocence and a compulsion to save others. He is told that he must avoid ruin, yet, it is already set that he forcefully HAS to take action against this as failure will not lead to an acceptable outcome, both in the terms of story and gameplay itself. There is a lot more symbolism to the Velvet Rooms that would probably take ages to explain, but I consider the assumption behind Amamiya Ren's Velvet Room manifestation to be incorrect to some degree. Then again, as it is based upon the concept of cognition, there can be many liberal interpretations to it; I merely choose to focus on the bearer's point of view due to their being what determines the events of the story.
22:42 HOLY SHIT! I did not know this! I have the first book, and I was going to go get the next books later, but sadly, I did not know that it was out of print. When I went there between the time I got the books and my most recent visit, they were still there.
360p only? Is it a youtube glitch?
Nice SMT V plot spoilers at the end.

Best way to summarize it
@@TheRogueRenegade So I've only just binged through the hundred hours to beat P5R and get the ending from P5 (I accidentally dropped Maruki at rank 7 and never ranked Akechi at all because I was more focused on maxing my social stats so no True Ending for me just yet), and funnily enough I had been discussing the P5 timeline split just an hour ago, and my theory on it (without having seen the True Ending) is that Maruki's involvement with Joker somehow prevents the root cause of Strikers, and Maruki didn't go to Shujin in P5 because Kasumi hadn't either. P5R is just that perfect storm of wanted nails to shut the lid on whatever kicks off the Strikers plot.

The thing is with Joker parents in Japan being in probation is a very shameful thing so his parents not contacting him isnt surprising since it does happen irl where in Japan people being in probation dont get contacted by family members since its an embarrassment and very shameful
Plot twist, Joker has foster parents, now that he's capable of living by himself and getting used to the situation, he has no need for them
What I thought of was that Joker's parents were government officials.
To sum this up since it was a bit of a mouthful
There is a stigma in Japan where being associated to a family member who has been in prison or convicted of a crime is bad.

Once the Fool completes their journey and reaches fulfillment with the World, they do not stop growing - the Fool will soon start a new journey with all of the understanding and accomplishments from their last journey. "Persona is a spin off of the shin megami tensei series"

Yup! Apparently it's technically considered Megami Tensei in Japan. But outside of Japan it's known as Shin Megami Tensei
@@TheRogueRenegade well. No.
It's still shin megami tensei in Japan. Megami tensei is the first two games in the series
Digital devil story megami tensei and digital devil story megami tensei 2.

At least I think... I could be wrong.
Anyway this video was great!
Well someone tried correcting me on it so I don't know what to believe anymore 😭
Thank you though!!
@@TheRogueRenegadeso what i gather from a quick search is
1. Megami Tensei is the name of the series as a whole based on the novel of "Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei"
2. MegaTen is a fan made abbreviation
3. Shin Megami Tensei was originally a apinoff of MegaTen in Japan
4. The name Shin Megami Tensei in the west was used on many games (like persona 4 for example to market megami tensei)
To sum it up the series is megami tensei, a spin-off series of megami tensei is shin megami tensei Persona is a spinoff of megami tensei and not shin megami tensei, but in the west, everything is shin megami tensei after smt 3
Edit: basically, in Japan persona is only megami tensei. Shin megami tensei is onky what we now know as mainline smt
Persona 5 fans claims Shin Megami Tensei to have ripped off persons 5 game mechanics , big scary
Oh hey, that's my iceberg on the right at 0:19 Thanks for giving it some attention, I didn't really figure anyone would really care about it. Great video, really appreciate that you kept the name "The Forbidden McDonald's", that really made me laugh when I came up with it. Some minor corrections/specification -
."Akechi alive in the true ending" was specifically about the post credits scene which shows him possibly alive in the crowd at the train station. That's why I used it as the image for the top layer.
."Loki's mouth" was meant to reference the fact that Loki's model has the inside of his mouth modeled and textured, with him having pointy red teeth, but none of his animations have him open it
.Mouse Crow also has some unused voice clips of him squeaking, and they are extremely blesed
. "Unused Smash songs" was partly in reference to the unremixed tracks, and partly to the fact that Life Will Change played in his reveal trailer but wasn't included in the game itself. I think this is the only time a smash character has their reveal trailer song not included in their dlc
.If you think the protagonist name confusion you listed in the video is bad, EVERY. SINGLE.
That's where the theory of her originally being the female protagonist came from.
."Persona 5 Portable" was just my way of including the Switch version, it is kinda weird that Royal is the only updated rerelease to not be on a portable console
."P5R is the finished game" was just a joke suggestion from my friend I just sorta randomly decided to include
.If you're wondering why the entry about the Kamoshida's palace nude statues is phrased as "Kamoshida nude model" , it's just because I thought it was funny.
.P5D has an unused song listing for Whims of Fate.

The persona Armageddon timeline theory
It going to be a mouthful
Almost every smt game take place either pre or post apocalypse setting
that mean the persona timeline is just delaying the inevitable
In smt 1 the world was nuke by thor because of yhvh so he can cleanse the world and by the time smt 2 ended the world is basically dead because it was flooded
Raidou Kuzunoha the 40th was depressed he failed to save Tokyo since it was his family duty to protect it
So he decided to go back in time to 1931 to alter history so he can prevent the smt 1 apocalypse
Unfortunately Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th wasn't going have none of that since it would mean the destruction of his Tokyo
Raidou 14th then banished raidou 40th from 1931 to the time stream never to return to his future but raidou 40th plan sorta worked
He was able to prevent the apocalypse to happen in 1992( the year smt 1 happen) but it was only delay to 1999 the setting for persona 2
It's possible that smt if was ground zero where the demon portal came from in smt and this is similar how mt and strange journey started with its demon invasion
In persona 2 the antagonists mask circle want to form a utopia by making rumor come to life and one rumor cause the town to be spare from the world being consumed into darkness thus fulfilling the prophecy that world will be destroyed so yhvh 1000 kingdom will only exists in the new world( sorta )
Ok here where things get interesting
Everyone know that philemon and Nyarlathotep made a bet that humanity can surpass their chaotic nature or give in to the darkness from this new timeline
But since Nyarlathotep cheated in persona 2 IS , philemon ask yhvh to give humanity a second chance and i guess yhvh agree but because tatsuya broke philemon promise to forget the events of p2IS , Nyarlathotep was able to cause humanity to falter in the new timeline of p2 EP and then he got banished by the new p2 crew
And once again philemon ask yhvh to give another chance but this time with some harsh conditions
philemon will be restrained from interacting with earth affairs but he was able to have igor take his place and for IS tatsuya he will live the rest of his life in the apocalyptic p2IS world as his enternal punishment also to have the next messiah die for the last fallen messiah innocent sin so humanity can be spare
And then persona 3 happens because all the dead souls from persona 2IP cross over to the new timeline from persona 2EP that gave erebus a power boost to ask nyx to kill humanity and it also explain why it have two heads
It seem like at this point humanity is barely surviving each test and it seem like something happens to yhvh in persona 5
Eventually the next messiah will fail to save the world and the prophecy will happen just like it happen in smt 1
This was a cool theory. Persona 6 Apocalypse when?

The reason Akihiko's line came up so much was probably because when the protagonist in p4 and p5 trigger an All-Out Attack, it goes to the next party member with the highest speed stat
My answer to why it took so long for Okumura to die is
The scene we see Akechi shoot his shadow is actually around the time the Phantom Theives have their party to welcome Haru
But, we are shown the scene immediately after the team leaves is to tell us the P-theives DIDN'T kill him this guy did
Cause, why would Joker know that the black mask was in the palace while he was out of the palace.
My thought is this
Akechi has the ability to delay the Collapse of the Palace to complete his own Mission
There are two Veriants of each Palace, the Steal the Treasure form of the Palace to fix the psyche
And then there's the Assassination form where Akechi just appears in the boss room and fires a single bullet
"Let me explain" Could be used whenever you got a confidant's ability.
That sounds pretty convincing, but that wouldn't explain why the twins and Igor don't have it
The "now that's comedy" line is actually used as one of asterius' level up quotes in P5R
That's what I had heard, but I couldn't find any video evidence
@@TheRogueRenegade ua-cam.com/video/NDKh00HpFy8/v-deo.html i believe its 2 minutes and 9 seconds into this video
Hey this was really great, got a lot of lol's from the editing too, thanks for the quality content.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, it means a lot!
Small things that I think can be added:
-Sumire also has a rat design if I'm not wrong.
Loved this video!! Been obsessed with Persona since I played 5 last year
Thank you! Persona 5 was pretty great, so I can see why
That's a vita but yeah for those that don't know you can use remote play
I knew it was a Vita, but for some reason I just called it a PSP. I'm not entirely sure why
It’s definitely the most insane Persona thing I know of (honestly not even most Megaten fans as a whole know this one even though someone put it on the wikia a while back)
Also, there is one canon love interest - Jun and Tatsuya is pretty clearly meant to be the “canon” romance in P2 seeing as they have unique alterations to the story that the others don’t.
A shin Megami Tensei Iceberg plz. Persona is huge and can take 40 min to do an iceberg of it but is still part of SMT that has way more games.
I don't have a lot of SMT knowledge under my belt, so I don't think I'd do a good job. Once i learn more, I definitely will
Deeper part
Walter knows samurai skills
19:56 yes but you can bring ackechi to mementos where enemies that inflict rattle exist
Only enemies in the Mementos Depths can give the rattled status effects. By that point, Akechi is not in your party
@@TheRogueRenegade oh yeah forgot bout that. Hmmmmm
Sojiro says "Let me explain" when you make new coffees in at least p5r, haven't played p5 so it might be in there too.
I was just scrolling through UA-cam and then heard you start speaking and went "OH! The guy who did the Pokemon Iceberg! Why wasn't I subscribed to him yet?" Glad to see you still making some solid iceberg videos pal!
The Only Unused area from the base persona 5 that was used in P5R that i Noticed my self was the cafeteria witch was used as an area for one of Kasumis Confidant events
Ayyyy thanks for using parts of my dumb iceberg. I really made it on a whim so I didn't add as much as I wanted to, but I'm glad it was worthy of a video.
that makoto bad ending literally made my heart sink
Ik I'm 3 years late but fun fact: P5 Strikers' Italian translation has Ryuji saying the f-word on a daily basis
True. Wish she had a more prominent role then
Kasumi and especially Akechi get a lot more screentime than Haru even if they do become playable characters later, I'm not sure how you could think otherwise
I forgot I subbed to you, best damn youtuber around
Thank you 😭
Thankfully I subscribed. I might have missed this video.
Glad you could make it then
Fast forward to February of 2024 and what do we have? We got persona 3 portable, 4 golden, and 5 royal on the switch, and we got Persona 3 Reload as well.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS LES GO
YEAHHHH!!
...this is an Iceberg video? This really is just random trivia and memes a lot of older fans already knows. Most other Iceberg video I saw gets into some really obscure stuff. I'm pretty sure Fither's video talked about more obscure stuff than this Iceberg video.
Well, we got Persona games on Switch and a P3 remake after all... lol
Yeah, as someone who really enjoys Persona and Jojo, you were pretty spot on with the comparisons you’ve made, kinda makes me wonder if Jojo did influence some aspects of the persona series, since it did release somewhere in the 90’s as a manga way before the first Persona game.
I think there was an interview where one of Persona's lead developers was fanboying over the creator of Jojo, but I don't remember the source
Some very weird explanation but that's what he said
Still a bit of a strange decision
About Haru's recovery speed, I don't think she actually got over all that stuff, and more than she just bubbles it all up inside and tries to ignore it and put on the facade of someone who is happy. This is shown by how she actually confronts her trauma over her dad's death in Strikers, but yeah that wasn't released at the time
17:49 Sojiro says the line when you make coffee and fun coffee facts appear on the screen.
Joker is the who says the line during Valentines day
Wait really? What do you do to make Joker say that line
@@Miunim Try to date multiple people. They will notice you're cheating and will show up at LeBlanc. You will try to explain what happened and Joker says the line
7:36 "If you were to take a drink everytime Ryuji says 'For Real', I'm pretty sure you would die from alcohol poisoning"
As someone who first experienced P5 through Sirlionhart's let's play, were that was a drinking game (for every character, not only Ryuji), to this day I still feel the crippling urge to take a sip whenever I hear for real...
For real?
need...too... TAKEASIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!!!
These iceberg videos are weirdly entertaining. UA-cam thinks I should continue watching them. Well put video, bro. 360p quality notwithstanding. ;)

Wait. I thought the "Now that's Comedy" line was used when Joker levels up Asterius.
It might be. I heard it was used for DLC Persona's but I couldn't find any evidence
After persona two there is a timeline reset brought on by Philemon, he then permenantely takes the form of the butterfly to regain his strength
