This video reminds me of an M1078 military truck I bought off a government auction. The vehicle only had minimal run time, yet the condition report on the vehicle said the engine had major problems and would not start. I took a chance and bid on it and won the auction. A few months later the vehicle was eventually delivered to me after completing a government background check. Stuck some new batteries in vehicle and it would not start, but it would turn over very nicely. I topped off the fuel tank, checked the oil, checked coolant and other fluids. Shot a few squires of starting fluid. It would catch, but nothing would run. I then loosened the fuel line connection to the injectors and fuel pump. After bleeding air from the system, then it fired up and it has been running ever since. All it would have taken is for a competent mechanic in the Army to troubleshoot to get it running. Instead, the government puts basically a new vehicle on the auction block and sells for substantially less than what it paid for the truck new. YOUR GOVERNMENT TAX DOLLARS BEING WISELY USED.

I’m a heavy equipment mechanic in the Marine Corps. Y’all wouldn’t believe what some of these young guys do to this equipment. We go to a 2 month long military run “school” to “learn” how to work on most of our equipment, then we get pushed out to our respective units and are expected to know how to diagnose and repair millions of dollars worth of heavy equipment (cranes, dozers, telehandlers, wheel loaders, etc.) If you didn’t want this MOS and/or aren’t mechanically inclined and more than anything, don’t have a passion for working on equipment you’re set up for failure from the beginning. Hardly any oversight or guidance from your supervisors makes for a bad combination as well, especially when most of them don’t understand equipment either. Short story long, I love seeing what y’all do to these 850’s to get them running again after the Marines screwed it up! Keep it up y’all, God bless

as a former army support maintenance guy my guess is that something went wrong and the parts/money weren't available to fix it completely so it was dragged into the corner of the yard and parts/bolts were robbed and or in junction with new guys using it to train on so they didn't fuck up another one.

As a john deere mechanic I did alot of work for a used implement dealer. The best thing I saw was a 4555 with a miss. Turned out it had a spun rod bearing. The pervious owner had cut rod at wrist pin pushed it up into bore removed the rest of rod and wrapped rod journal on crank with and intertube and hoseclamp it so it would hold oil pressure. Selling it saying it had an injector out.

Easy with the sweeping generalizations there fellas. You realize that the old cranks said the same about us 30 years ago, right? There are good kids out there who get even more disgusted with the unmotivated crybaby members of their own generation than we do. My nephew is one example that proves you wrong. He joined the Army because he admires his former 11B uncle for some unexplainable reason (haha) and is a hard charger. He's barely 21, a 12B, was an honor grad in his BLC class at Ft McCoy, got his E5, is a Combat Engineer team leader who cares about his guys and keeps it real in the field. Though younger than everyone in his E-EOCA class by 5-10 years, he had the highest overall score. After he reclasses to 11B from Engineers this summer, he's doing a SOCOM preparation course to help him make it through SFAS/Q-Course. All the weak entitled jackasses of his generation who suddenly forgot how biology works, etc that get their voices amplified by social media annoy him to no end. Don't give up hope, guys - there are more good young soldiers out there than you think.

As someone who has live most of his life in that part of the world since 9/11. They found a problem that they could not fix in country and it sat in the yard and was used for spare parts until some captain didn't want it on his books anymore and it was shipped back. Could of sat for years. The fluids are mostly empty because the military requires it for shipping. It looks slapped together because it was never put back together, you would need a part and remove as much hardware as you need so you can remove that part. That includes bolts, lines, wiring, anything. Be happy It had the body panels.
