    I have always joined my squares together with sewing: lots and lots of sewing. I knew they could be joined with crochet, but I was never sure exactly what I was doing. Of the 3 methods you showed (all of which are lovely) i think i prefer the third one - slip stitching from the back. Thank you for sharing.

      Don't get me wrong, sewing definitely has it's place and is awesome when you use the tails of the squares themselves but ughhh I'm just too lazy 😂 If I can avoid it, I absolutely will LOL x

You have been most patient and your instructions are very clear. I just sat down once and I think I have all three methods understood. I love the first method , for me it gives more definition to my blankets. On another topic I was when younger told that I was crocheting wrong and that if I wanted my projects to be called "crochet" I had to change the way I crocheted to the "right way". Thanks to you I crochet the way its most comfortable to me, I hold my work and wool in my right hand and also the rest of my work in my left hand for balance. I know it's more like knitting but it works for me and thanks to you stating there is no right or wrong way I can enjoy my hobby again. xxxx

      @@HookedbyRobin I have a question, I am working on a pdf pattern I purchased on etsy that calls for 3 different hook sizes, it is an older pattern, the blocks use an I hook, the border an h hook and joining calls for an f hook. I am worried that it will warp my blocks, because it calls for a zig zag slip stitch

    • @shellyroke
      @shellyroke Рік тому +1

      @ashortyb411 I'm not Robin, and wonder if you finished in the time between then and now, but I've found that most often when it calls out a smaller hook, they want tougher stitches. You don't have to use the f, I personally would use the h hook and just watch my tension. Oh, and you will need 3X the length of your seam for the yarn.

    Thanks so much for your videos. As always - instructions are clear and concise and examples are flawless.
    Favourite? Yikes!! I am about to join the crocheted squares of a "quilt" pattern so no two squares of the same colour meet! I think I'm best to add another contrasting, rather neutral colour (I'm thinking pale or light gray) and go with either the sc or the slip stitch - likely the latter. The squares are dark green, light green, cream, white and black. I've tried the invisible and wasn't happy with it. I am open to suggestions but anxious to get going. It's been a WIP for some time now!
    I think I've created a monster!! :)

    Hello! First I have to say I love your tutorials!! Your explanations and showing are perfect for me. I feel even on the harder ones I'd be successful as a novice because of how well you explain things.
    As for your actual question, I do like all three, each one I was like oh I like that, then the second was og, I like that more, and so on. Someone else said that it would depend on the overall look you were going for and I agree wholeheartedly with that comment. But, the third on was my favorite.

    I like the slip stitch method. I think it looks the neatest…unless you are using a contrast color and want that to show. Thank you for sharing. 💜🙏🏻

    I tried the third method on a couple quick knitting samples I made, and it seemed to work well. I'm looking forward to trying it on an actual knitting project. I'm terrible at sewing and I'd be thrilled if I could use this technique.
    (But first I've got some crocheting to finish!)

    This has been immensely helpful, thank you!! I made a load of granny square 9 years ago but have been too intimidated to join them together. How would you go about joining loads together? Like would you join 2, then 4, then 6 etc in a vertical row, then go back to join them horizontally?

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  4 місяці тому

      Yeah I'd break it down like that in chunks - join the verticals first then go back and do the horizontals 👍

    Thank You for this video, the joining method I liked best. Is the third option, mostly because it's invisible. From the top side and fairly invisible from this back. And easier because of how the squares are held, and the yarn to the out side of the squares.
