      @@navilubana8577 it sounds like it could be the range cylinder on back of trans. The high low splitter also has an actuator. If it’s a reman trans this most likely came new or rebuilt but you would have to check or test it. It’s also possible you’re not getting correct air pressures or voltage to transmission. I don’t know enough about your specific situation on what was replaced, or how it was diagnosed to begin with but I would start by checking the codes, and then try to work your way through it. Sounds like it’s not getting hogh range which is controlled by the rear actuator. Can’t remember terminology

    That noise is common for those compressors. My company has about 10 trucks that make that noise. Also, im pretty sure that F flashing is for fault, not forward. These transmissions usually will throw a code using that key method from my experience. My only experience is with eaton software with these transmissions, and it's very limited at that, so thanks for the video. I'm definitely gonna pen this info down for when our transmissions inevitably fail.

    Thanks again, Warren. And Merry Christmas!

    Warren. You are not alone. I had a car that was stack shifting. Single owner. Brought it to a local shop 85k miles, they “rebuilt the transmission”. No they swapped it with a reman. No warranty. Still no fix. I asked them “did anybody check the TCU or the ECM”? They all looked at each other with their heads up their ass. So I had it towed to the OEM thinking this will get to the bottom of it…. WRONG. When I walked in the door, I specifically told them to (oem) check the TCM. They said they would do a full diagnostic on it, and they did……. They swapped out the tranny with another reman. I demanded to see the oil sample they took out of the trans they replaced, it looked fine. A kid 20 years younger than me argued with me that the oil was contaminated…he said, “there’s 80k miles on this trans, it’s got brass in the oil”. I said…. “You’re the OEM right?” “Yes we are”. “What is the fuckin vin number, the engine serial number, and the original transmission serial number that was installed?” Well guess what. He called his service manager over and said I was being rude…. End of story. The fuckin TCU was bad. I had to fight for money for 2 trans from two shops plus labor. 60 days with no car. I don’t know how you do it Warren.

    If you put the clutch in service position that opens the forks on actuator so you can pull the transmission off the clutch if your leaving clutch on flywheel when you remove trans. That is so you don’t have to remove actuator before pulling trans. Pretty sure that’s how it works whereas the open position is to adjust if necessary

    I feel for ya,been there a few times.I wanted to pass on some things i have learned being a Deere dealer for almost 30 years.I have started engines on either more times than i want to admit.Since dealing with 6125 and early 6081 engines being air locked, I started using Napa (mac's) spray silicone to start stubborn engines(Directly into the turbo).The engine will just idle without knocking or revving up.Usually my customer is standing over my shoulder and is not so worried ,being that silicone won't dry out the cylinders.As far as shutting of the return ,I learned that years ago.The thing you have to be careful about is blowing the front seal out of the HPCR pump especially on the 4045,6068,and the 6090.I usually watch the fuel pressure and shut the engine off or open a ball valve on the return when the pressure reaches 100 psi..

    Being able to work on trucks with automated transmissions is becoming crucial since half of all class 8 trucks sold in the United States are equipped with manual transmissions and 90 percent of Volvo and Freightliner trucks are built with automated transmissions.

      @@tylerramsey7396. There is absolutely no reason not to have a fleet with all automated transmissions. The main benefits are better fuel economy, lower cost of maintenance and higher safety. Not to mention driver training is easier and driver comfort is increased. No shifter on the floor between the seats makes it easier to move around inside the cab.

      @@garrettfoote8570 I test drove a few trucks with the Allison tc-10 when it was first released and it was an amazing transmission. It was released at a bad time when manufacturers were making the switch to integrated power trains. The TC-10 uses a torque converter and twin countershafts. The benefit of the torque converter is torque multiplication.

  • @derekbrown2404
    @derekbrown2404 Рік тому +1

    Service position turns the release fork the opposite direction completely out of the way so you can pull the trans if leaving the clutch on the flywheel if not it will be stuck between the release bearing. Open clutch should only be used to adjust the clutch, if you pulled the transmission and clutch together with it in the open position the clutch would be pulling on the clutch bolts as you loosen them. The clutch service manual CLSM0200 ( which you can look up) Says when tightening the caging bolts to run them in till the shoulder touches then go another full turn and that’s plenty.

    One of my KW T880 trucks had that transmission "F" (fault) indicator flash while in operation, and I'd have to stop what I'm doing, put shifter in neutral, shut-off engine for a minute then restart to reset the TCM, then off to the races. It happened so many times especially in the middle of intersections that the company finally sold the truck. For now I've switched to another KW truck with manual transmission. The company is so frustrated over these 3rd Gen Eaton Ultra-Shifts that they are selling them out of the fleet and reordering new KW trucks with the Allison auto transmissions which are a dream in dump trucks. The Ultra-Shifts are great distance road transmissions but absolutely horrible in crawling speed and off-road dump truck use.

    I actually just had one this week doing what you described, it ended up being a combination of things. The LICB was not functioning properly (low inertia clutch brake) which was mainly caused by an overgrease condition in throwout bearing. Autoluber was not metering correctly, also the clutch itself had a few pieces of springs that were hanging up internally on pressure plate. Was your clutch replaced?
    Once those items were corrected I did replace xy shifter and both speed sensors on top shift box. I checked the rear hi low box solenoids and reinstalled. After it was back together it ran good. Pretty sure it was the combination of the LICB, the clutch, and the old xy shifter

      @Ken-6mm Рік тому

      If you are not reusing clutch it doesn’t have to be caged, but if you don’t have software to open the forks on the actuator, you’ll have to remove the ECA and drop it down before you pull transmission. I’ve never personally done it this way but like Warren said once it’s in it should adjust it self with a few key cycles. Just make sure you have an alignment tool in new clutch and it’s tight to flywheel before it gets uncaged. You may have to leave caging bolts in until trans is secure and actuator is reinstalled before you remove cage bolts. Not sure, I would contact Eaton to verify

    • @Ken-6mm
      @Ken-6mm Рік тому

      Oops no you would remove caging bolts once aligned or you would loose your alignment sorry.
