Warren is a intelligent hard working man driven by strong core values. . . I wish there were people like him in my area. . He is an asset to youtube and America. I think he grossly under rates his abilities and under prices his services.
your awesome Warren, i heard you say, you just dont seem to enjoy it anymore. me im crazy passionate about this line of work, and i know your a veteran. youve taught me alot already but im far from a pro yet. so i thank you for keeping me wanting more. i use to work construction and i had a chance to go to college for diesel tech and really going after mechanic work, but im 32 now and been at this wrenching thing for 3 yrs now, and this is my true passion, wish i wouldve tackled it sooner, but better than nothing, anyways thanks for everything.
If you don’t love what you do, you’re destined to fail long term. I’ve been working on farm and heavy equipment since was kid always loved it, but my dad who owned several service companies said most of the time something you love turns into something you hate because at the end of the day you have to be making good money. And if you’re dealing with crappy customers and the pay doesn’t compensate for it, then you’re gonna begin to hate it
I really enjoy your channel. The most important thing is your insight into the world! I would enjoy seeing your prospecting. When I was 10 years old, a friend and I found an old prospecting shaker box. We found about 6 flakes for a day of digging.
Hey Warren, more work at the house. Maybe you should look into building another shop on your property. That way you wouldn’t have to work out in the weather. Anyways, another great video fixing people’s stuff. You the best, thanks much!
C12, c10, 3176. All are notorious for the bushing in the injector follower wears and falls apart. The floppy roller then beats the hell out of the cam lobe and wipes it out. There was a revision on the followers that had a wider bushing in them and they survived much longer. If you pull out that injector pushrod and reach down with a long pick, you can move that follower up and down and see the roller flop around on the bushing. You can't get the followers out without pulling the head off. There are two different head gaskets, one has a straight edge along the pass through opening for the pushrods and the other has a scalloped edge. Once you get the front cover off to pull the cam out, there is a single bolt in the back driver side with a 5/8 12 point head that goes through a groove in the back of the cam. I have seen a couple of cams that have survived, but they were shut down right away. Oregon cam grinders can usually fix the cam and they used to stock one. I don't know if they stock them still. If you use them, you have to pull the gear off before you send it. They won't pull or install the gear. It's a very very tight press fit too. Before teardown, listen for a noisy compressor drive gear making a rattle. Pretty common problem too, and if the cam is coming out, you'll be right there to do it. Hope this info helps. You're in my hometown!
@@elir6565 pull pan, check a couple of main and rod bearings, if they look good, replace the cam if it did end up getting damaged, replaced all injector followers and if it's in the budget do the intake and exhaust too. There was an updated design with wider bushings in them. Get injectors checked out. If an injector is sticking it will contribute to this failure as well. Pull the oil strainer and clean it, pull the filter head and clean it, metal likes to collect right at the bypass valve so if it does open up, the first thing it gets is metal passed through it to the bearings.
As a fellow field mechanic I enjoy your videos and definitely learn things from watching you. I totally get the whole being burned out with this trade.
I been wrenching for 50 years as a backyard mechanic, I definitely know the feeling , but I still take on work it's in our blood, you are one hell of a mechanic and I'm always learning from ur videos.
Great video Warren really enjoy watching you work on this C12 Cat for a miss fire problem. Cam going flat is a bad problem to have. Thanks for sharing stay safe Warren.
G'day Warren, You do a great job for your clients. With the state government and emissions I think everyone will be forced into some sort of compliance, at least till the country comes to a stop. As for the prospecting here in Victoria Australia our state government is bringing in rules, lots of rules, an infringement will carry a penalty. I don't know where one can move to to avoide all this compliance. I guess I winge to much. Merry Christmass to you, your family and all your viewers. cheers , Butch.
As always, appreciate the effort to post the video. I always look forward to it. And as a membership contributing member (as i hope others are as well) I thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Warren thank you for all your knowledge sharing on your videos. It has helped me tremendously. I can certainly understand your frustration on working on trucks and equipment and the earning/payment end of it. I have recently retire and now have lifted a ton of responsibilities of the grind to earn money. I just want to say that getting old sucks and we are most definitely living in some challenging times. You are a smart cookie and will do what is best for you and the family. Hang in there buddy.
Really appreciate your videos and commentary, Warren. I hope you are able to do something that you enjoy and make some money doing it. Definitely looks like something is out of adjustment or worn out on the C12, hopefully you will have another video once you figure it out. Thanks again. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Warren, I would Never dislike you for your opinion. That is your right. We agree on many things. I'm not sure we disagree on few. Love the channel and the input. Thank you

I worked boy and man on anything from electric wheel chairs to open cast mining equipment spanning 28 years. The gring of cold. Wet and heat got in my bones. So i stepped back and moved on. One thing may be your phone will only ring from your wife and family, I left work 20yrs ago, built houses renos and new. went fly fishing for trout, never looked back, learnt heaps and still am, met wonderful people and enjoy the solitude of the rivers I fish. Fishing for gold, sounds good, best of luck.
Hate to tell you this, Warren, but you can also go very broke with gold. Oh, don't get me wrong, it is a blast.
