Honestly regardless of how you feel about fnaf or GT, the Ultimate Timeline trilogy is a lot of fun to watch and paints an interesting story that the GT crew clearly spent a LOT of time working on.

Well, not in the official games to my knowledge. It was referenced in Sonic Boom TV show, regarding speeding tickets, and was said in the first Sonic movie. Outside of that, I don’t think it has been said elsewhere.

I think the convoluted lore and insane amount of theories really get in the way of people remembering the first few games were actually solid horror games.
Yeah, they had solid atmosphere, and were precision tooled to target the fear of “what if when I turn this corner or open this door something is there? Better just not do anything.” That a lot of people have.

It wasn't canon until another game came out, and that game came out after matpat made his videos which were a significant part of developing the FNAF lore. It's entirely possible that it only became canon because matpat made popular videos about the subject.

This reminds me of how I was working at a movie theater when Five Nights at Freddy's first became popular, and this one kid around 11-12 years old kept coming in and talking to me about the series. Now, I never played any of the games, but he seemed like a good kid, so I went along with it.
