Me finally reaching rank 40 and can't wait to find out how breeding works just to find myself slowly falling in an endless spiral of pain. Thanks for the video
TEXT GUIDE PIN: Due to IRL circumstances, I never got around to the training guide and I don't see myself as able to do this in 2023 either. Having a baby makes having time difficult for videos like these that require more editing and time. THAT BEING SAID!!!!!! Here is someone else's EXCELLENT text guide: ffxivchocoboracing.wordpress.com/category/training/ It has builds, trainings, and how to handle grade 9. I will vouch that the information in it is excellent. ffxivchocoboracing.wordpress.com/category/training/
every few months I come back to this video and try to progress some more. it's really the best chocobo breeding resource out there, really tells you what to look for.
Great to hear! Though I do want to remake this someday as a slower-spoken version (with more beginner appropriate explanations) due to all the feedback received from those who had difficulty following.
Thanks so much for the video, I originally tried looking through some text guides but it wasn't doing me so well, so figured I'd look for youtube guides and this was number 3. So good, I actually get it now. I only had bred up pedigree 3, but stopping now and understanding how the stars all work is so nice. You the bestest, even if you joked about sacrificing a Lalafell >:(
I'm a returner and I have in-game mail older than most peoples accounts (3108 currently, i've been away a long while). This guide was fantastic, as many of the 'in depth' guides I read did a woefully poor job of communicating the basic information, which you've done splendidly. I am moving on to Pedigree 6 now and looking solid (though I want specific colors, so this will get grindy soon!). Thanks
Great guide thanks. I watched a couple others before this one and tbh I left more confused than what I originally was, but this one was just perfect. Thanks again!
What a week. I've purchased my first house, started to learn how to garden, and now I breed chocobos. I'm finally upwardly mobile in this game. 😂 Great video guide.
thank you so much for making this! we're currently up to pedigree 5, with 7 perfect stats in each chocobo. hopefully we can get as lucky as you did as we keep climbing the ranks
This has been super helpful! Especially because I seem to be making things harder for myself by not only breeding a perfect bird, but also one with a color I like. I currently have a half-decent G4 Lotus Pink male that I'm hoping passes his colors along to his offspring
Yeah trying to aim for both stats and looks is quite difficult. When it comes to racing chocobos, it really can be brains vs beauty. I do hope you're able to achieve it though!
The best guide I've seen. Really clear* up some of my confusion by seeing it layout like this. Thank you for all your hard work. *Typo- phone did me dirty
Thank you so much for this! I've managed to work my way up to a 6/10 male and 7/10 female by G4 and I think I'm addicted lol. This has been extremely helpful!
Gotta say, praise the lady. Awesome video. I was pretty confused and not sure if was doing anything right, stopped at g5 choco and as the video bought a bunch of covering to fix the genes, g3 btw because I didn’t wanted to go back that much. Now pretty happy, at g7 my genes are almost perfect and now at g8 I gotta a perfect female and a 9/10 male. This last leveling is going to be a breeze knowing that finale at the g9 I will get the perfect one.
Ok mission complete thanks to your video. Last night I bred a grade 9 perfect chocobo. After that I completed all the challenges with ease. Thanks for making this guide! I don't think I would have taken the plunge without your help.
The fact that this video only has 369 likes is an absolute travesty. I managed to get eight 4*s at grade 4 as well and it was because I used the strategies you talked about early on in this video.
I'd probably get more likes if I ever made the actual guide version of this video. (This is actually meant to be a quick runthrough for people who already know how to chocobo breed but want to see one in action from 1 to 9), but I'm glad you liked it!
Great video. It helped me a lot during my arduous grind to the perfect chocobo. Just finished retiring a male and a female with 7 4-star ratings at Grade 4, so it's getting there. However, I've seen a few videos on breeding, and some of them mention "builds", but so far the ONLY build I've managed to dig up is the Sprint build. Are there even any other exciting builds to aim for? Perhaps this would make for an interesting video as well. Anyway, thanks again!
Edit: I am definitely doing this :D I am making my first Pedigree 2 Chocobo. ^_^ Oh my goodness. This is so.... complex. And definitely time consuming. I appreciate it, but I do not see myself doing this indefinitely.
I did the same thing, but with the Snow White colour and also Pedigree 1. 100K MGP gone in Grade 1 and I made sure they all had at least 4 sets of max stars, one of them had 6!
You talk fast. And I love it. You also don't beat around the bush to create a 30 minutes video. And I love it. This is my favorite demonstration/guide so far. Wowzers.. just got a G2 with 7 stars!
Bahaha I've watched this so many times. Such an insanely helpful guide, but I need to do things hands-on to really get it. I got to my second generation and realized I would have to level my baby back to 40... and that has to happen every time.... a moment of silence for our collective sanity.
And to think I did this all the way to 9 for two characters (and when you start inbreeding it’s leveling to 40 for each). Is sanity even a thing at this point?
I'm a new player who has only yesterday just started getting into the world of chocobo racing. I have watched quite a few videos going over the systems involved but this is defo the first video that's really made the whole process click in my mind! Thank you, it was very well presented and I love how it didn't waste my time and put a lot of its info on screen (instead of making me watch your character run back and forth unlocking racing like some other videos have shown!). A question I have. As higher pedigree makes levelling the chocobos slower. Is there any value to breeding with a pedigree below so you keep the resulting pedigree at the same level while you're looking for your first inbreeding pairs? Or does that eventually waste more time as you make your way to pedigree 9 later? Cheers!
There is value to that if those chocobos are actually good breeding pairs (they have 4 stars in each stat across both). If they don't (for example, if neither chocobo has a 4* in acceleration) then it's not worth it. That's actually why in the 7-> 8 I showed 3 plans, because if luck wasn't kind, it might have been better to try doing a 7+6 to get new 7s to play with. Actually recently I was helping a friend who had messed up their pedigree 9s and instead of having him try to fix it with pedigree 9s, I told him to look at his saved 5s/6s and see if there was a good inbreeding candidate there. He did and then he was able to fix his chocobo much easier.
Glad you like it :) Do keep in mind that based on what luck gives you, you will need to adjust the strategies. For example, you might start inbreeding later.
@@Squintina so far kind of lucky at G3, but now both retired and start breeding them together so far the 3rd baby best is 7x4stars male and female, but for the male one two star on both side for cunning
If you get at least one female that has a 4* in cunning, you can still make it work (provided that once again you can do a 4* in all stats when looking at both parents), just means you're planning 2 generations ahead. However, if you have no males & females with a 4* in cunning at all, you may need to go back to coverings for this round and try to get that back into your gene pool.
@@Squintina lucky on the last baby got an 8x 4stars, but now the big question, this 8x star male is deepest green, the the best stat female is also deepest green but the other is peacock blue which I want, 2nd back female is a 6x stars peacock blue either 2star cunning on both side, if go for stats I understand using the 7xstars deepest green female is the right way, so the gene pool has all possible 4stars on every stats for G4 am I ok to go for the peacock blue and fix the star on later state?
You can always try to fix it later, it just means potentially more breeding and racing. So if color is something you really want, and you don't mind potentially having to do more work later, go for it!
Great video, really. As a person that can rarely set for anything less than perfection, this is exactly what I needed. Was there a written version of the guide released somewhere? 🐔
Thanks for the guide I had the luck of having my Full stars at Pedigree 7 And the first P9 I registered had foul weather My final stats are 500-290-460-500-500 Choco Cure 3 and Speedy Recovery 3 It took me 2 weeks and i'll never do it again
Starting breeding the first round and didn't have much difficulty finding a full set of G1-F coverings with 4 or 5 sets of four-star attributes! Maybe SE opened up the RNG at some point since you made this video. I'm currently waiting on a breeding with a covering with five sets of four-stars. Crazy
@@Squintina I'm on grade 4 now and it feels like 1 in 10 coverings can easily be 4 or 5 stats with a 4 star. The game has definitely been more generous compared to what is demonstrated in your video. Maybe next time you're in the gold saucer and have MGP to burn, you can try buying 10 or 20 grade 1s and see if I'm crazy or not.
I came back to this guide again for the most recent make it rain campaign - bred my Grade 6 Chocobos and got 3 perfect grade 7 females and grade 7 males missing only 1 star. Fingers crossed for a perfect grade 8 pair!
Add alittle update to my progress, thank you once again of the guide so that I wasn’t afraid to start early on inbreed. Once reach G5 on 8th and 10th baby I got 9start G6 of each sex. And my first G7 is a perfect female 😊😊. Start early inbreed also save a lot of MGP from buying covering win win
Yup, starting early just means more racing. So it's a question of MGP vs time played. Personally I prefer breeding early because it's easier to control the gene pool and I don't mind doing more races ... even 651 of them >.>
Unfortunately I didn’t. I do have a pinned comment for someone else’s text guide. Unfortunately, life has gotten in the way and I have very little time these days :(
got one of the coverings before with female at 4 star/ male 4 star. Probably bought them a hell of a lot of times before I seen that. Also Gobbue is your best friend, Ms Lala.
Awesome guide! I followed it through and am now the proud daddy of a couple of P9 all-stars. Do you have any build suggestions for the different racing tracks?
Love this guide. I'm on pedigree 5 right now and I just got a Female 4 star in everything!! Is it still possible to learn Head Start by just buying lethe water over and over and unlearning? Because my chocobo was born with choco dash 2. THank you for the work you put into this
Yes it’s still possible, just RNG! If you don’t get it by the time you’re ready for P9, you should look into Choco Cure III or Super Sprint by doing the challenges to unlock the books. (Technically Super Sprint builds do better than Head Start, I just like to have Head Start because of its specialness as the only non-purchasable skill)
@@Squintina No worries im still doing p5 and testing my luck, thank you for your response. So close to perfection! The funny thing though is my chocobos are stuck on rose pink color lol. I don't mind, the color isn't as important to me. I didn't buy as many coverings as you did I've been uh... inbreeding for a while LOL
Hey loved the video even though i already have a 20 star grade 9 chocobo :D Looking forward to the training video as well. Is it gonna cover how to get a 4 stats maxed chocobo? Its the only thing i cant figure how to do and i already wasted so many hours just mindlessly leveling new chocobos only to get screwed by acceleration RNG
I'm currently behind on that video because of IRL circumstances. However, I don't think I'll be aiming for 4-max stats on it. Mostly because it's extremely RNG-reliant, as you already know. Most good builds are meant to work with 3 good stats, with a 4th one being optional. For example, super sprint builds generally don't really care what your acceleration or cunning are. Head start builds don't particularly care about cunning since they're used on Sagolii primarily, which means having a max 4th acceleration is nice, but a non-max acceleration is still ok as long as no stats were lost upon rank-up/training due to overcapping. If not aiming for perfect 4-max, at least people should aim to not lose due to overcapping, because then you don't reach as much mid on your 4th and 5th stat.
Squintina: Came back to the video a few times over the course of breeding, and I wanted to make sure I understood the guide correctly. - In order to fix a Pedigree for future breeding, you must have two Chocobo that can correct either side. This means if I'm using a Sire with a 1* in Cunning, but a Dam with a 4* in cunning in either the male/female Pedigree, it will potentially fix the Sire's side in their brood? For instance: A sire with male/female of 1* Cunning and a dam with 1*/4* Cunning could potentially have a 25% of having a Gen+ with 4* in Cunning?
You got the general idea, yes. It doesn't technically "fix the Sire" - that Sire is what that Sire is. But its child has a 25% chance of being better. But yeah, you want at least a 25% chance in each stat, but if you can get 50%, 75%, or 100% (perfection), that's obviously better. The process I went through was basically attempting to improve the rates each time. Make sure you save previous generations (at least, the ones that came out pretty good). Since you're relying on luck, if something goes wrong, you might occasionally have to breed with a lower generation if the stars fit better.
Hey. Thanks for showing your progress! Trying to get into breeding myself now and I must admit, there is a point I don't completely understand. As soon as I start inbreeding, I want to get the action skill to Headstart. So if I have Headstart on both as action skill, the youngling will have Headstart as hereditary. Later, to raise them faster, I can get the leveling action skill. So, if I breed them, don't they get the leveling action skill as hereditary then? Or do I unlearn it before retiring and they only have the hereditary Headstart which then will be passed on to the children? Want to get sure about that, not that I do a dumb dumb and somehow lose my Headstart later in the progress, that would be a bummer =)
I am indeed on Faerie. You'll find me AFK a lot as I have so little time to play these days that I need to not waste it logging in and out! (Some days, I barely have enough time to do 1 FL and 6 tribal quests...)
@@Squintina I just ran by you in Uldah and was like "i recognize that name!" but you were indeed AFK, so I thought I would ask. Hope you are doing well and I enjoy your content. I'm learning the game slowly and its all the side stuff that I'm loving, so thanks for the guides!
your video really helped me out ive got right into this, ive been looking for the follow up video about traning when at rank 9 i cant find the guide do you have one?
Due to various IRL circumstances, I haven't been able to put it out. However, here is someone else's guide that I personally will vouch for being awesome. ffxivchocoboracing.wordpress.com/category/training/
I think i heard the color thing being mentioned somewhere in the video but not sure what timestamp. What G- part should I select the color im hoping to keep all the way to G9 or should i worry about color later?
You can’t really “worry about color later”. Once you start inbreeding, you are stuck with the color pool you’re breeding with. Color is something you want to try to get ready for whatever generation you will start inbreeding with. Color does not affect any racing stats. Personally I never cared about it since it’s just adding another extra layer of difficulty to this with no actual racing benefit.
It would have been nice if you mentioned anything at all about not retiring your rank 40 chocobo until you had done the breeding unlock quest that can only be done once you have the actual chocobo. I'm now stuck with a breeding license that I can't do anything with and have to do the grind all over again.... :(
No you didn’t mess up! First, you can still get what you need randomly and just apply it from then on. Second, if you do the challenges at G8, you can unlock master books for skills you want. There is only ONE skill without a master book and it’s “Head Start”, and that’s not even considered the “best” skill (I just like it because it’s special). If you’re using a Cure iii or Super Sprint build, you can literally just buy those at G8 as your acquired skill before you retire and select that. You just have to unlock them via Challenges first! (Or even as G9 if you miss it. G9s can still breed, they just make other G9s)
new to this as of this morning. my 4th G2 Fledgling has 5/10 4 stars :O so I get her to 40 now. then breed her with more Coverings.. when you get a perfect 10x 4 star Chocobo to Rank 40 and retire it you still have to then breed it with a Covering to get it to next level? sorry if im confused
My Chocobo is a pedigree four & has all her 4 stars on everything. My question is will I lose stars when I breed again or do I keep them when I breed 4-9
I got some G1 male and G1 female with 5x4stars, would that ideally be a better start for breeding right? Plus just a quick question, how much MGP did this all cost for you?
5 4-stars sounds like a great start! I spent 52,230 in coverings total. Then in trainings: 235,375 I could have spent a LOT less in trainings, but since I was working on making a list of all prizes for all ranks for all races (yes I'm crazy like that), I had to spend a lot more on trainings than actually necessary to level up. So 287,605 MGP total, not including the final chocobo's trainings which I still haven't made time for, but you can do it for a heck of a lot cheaper by skimping out on training.
@@Squintina Damn that is A lot lol Really appreciate the work you put into making an in depth video like this. So helpful and breakdowns pretty much all you need to know how to breed a perfect champ 👌 New subscriber keep it up
So I never got around to the training guide but no you don't wait until 50 to feed. On your last chocobo, you pick your priority stats (depends on your build) and then you try to get at least one of them lined up so it's a multiple of 15 away. Example: If it's at 350, that's 150 away, that's 15x10. If you wait until 50 you could end up losing out on some stats because of the way the RNG level ups work. So typically it's somewhere in the 35-45 range for your priority stats, and then at 50 the remaining trainings are used on the lesser priority stats.
@@maxwell4322 There are multiple viable builds and many of those will depend on whether you're only farming Sagolii (for achieves) or whether you like variety for different races. Since I never got around to making a guide on this (and probably won't for at least another year with all the things happening IRL right now), and it would be a lot to write in a comment, I'm going to give a shout out to someone else's guide that has excellent builds that include both actions and stat priorities. ffxivchocoboracing.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/advanced-endgame-builds/ It's from 2015 but it's still accurate.
Hello again fren. What are the best stats to train a chocobo with? I've been going with Speed, Endurance,Stamina as my main focuses. Do you have any suggestions?
I have pedigree 9 chocobos but the 4 star stats are a little all over the place. Would you recommend starting over to get a perfect breed or do you think it would be a further waste of time?
Depends what you mean by “the 4 stars are a little all over the place”. If it’s the heritage stars, that’s fine since only the “Own” stars matter for racing. But if the “Own” are all over the place, you may wish to retire it and breed it. You shouldn’t start over from scratch if your current chocobo has a good amount of Heritage 4*, in the sense that you can use your current chocobo as a breeding g base. If you have any saved up retired registrations, you can breed with those, or you can use a purchased chocobo from G2-G4. Breeding with a lower pedigree will make leveling easier if you are still missing a lot of 4* (and cheaper if you’re purchasing with MGP). If your current chocobo is nearly perfect, you may wish to breed with a G5+ to reduce how many races you have to do to get back to G9.
@@Squintina So for example, my current chocobo has pretty bad stats with (1) 4* in endurance. However, it's parentage has 4/10 4* , with endurance being completely 4*. The chocobos I currently have retired are the same. I'm missing anything with breeding opportunity for 4* speed or cunning. I have 1 fledgling cert with the 50/50 chance of 4* speed but I haven't registered it yet. I think depending on this next fledgling I'll end up going back to G5 or G2. It has (1) 4* guaranteed and 2 more up to the RNG. Thanks for giving me some good starting points depending on the stats. Happy to know I won't have to start all the way over!
Can you learn Choco Cure III at rank 10 at any pedigree, or does that only happen in the higher ones? If so do you know which? I'm aiming for Super Sprint/Choco Cute III build
I’m not actually sure but thankfully it doesn’t matter! At pedigree 8, you can likely beat the first 12 Challenge races and unlock all the master books! You can just teach your chocobo Cure 3 from the book and select that to pass on. The only skill that cannot be learned from books is Head Start.
Hi so I'm at my 1st P9 Chocobo and managed to get his stats at Max speed at 4 stars, Acceleration 3 stars, Endurance 4 stars, Stamina 4 stars, and cunning 4 stars, I'm at rank 45 right now with my stats at speed 255, acceleration 285, Endurance 275, Stamina 310, Cunning 225. My question is I found once I hit rank 40 I not been able to place more then 8th place there been maybe 3 time the game smiled on me and with the track items managed to finish 7th my Chocobos abilites I have set are his Hereditary dressage 3 (had no choice on that was from his bought covering parent) and Increased Stamina 3, with out the dressage 3 I wouldnt be getting the 530 exp for 8th so I was wondering if it would hurt maxing out what I can I I started doing some of the Training now some maybe I can place higher then 8th and hit rank 50 faster?
I didn't. You can't change a chocobo's inherited ability. I learned the ability I wanted as an acquired ability. When I retired that chocobo, it asked me which of the two abilities to pass on to the registration card. So basically you "change" inherited abilities by breeding a new chocobo. If you're in the early levels of breeding, you can also get it from coverings, but that's a terrible way.
@@Squintina Thanks! I"m a new player so i didn't know that you could unlearn an ability, unlearn it and get a new random one every new level. i thought it was just at lvl 10. thanks! did wht you did and got head start.
btw. Thx for a great vid! followed your strat (luckily didn't have to buy as many covers as you for lvl 2) and managed to get 3 pairs of Pedigree 3 chocobos at 6 stars each! :D
Great guide! I was able to use it to get a perfect G8 pair. My only problem now is trying to do the challenge races at G8. My chocobo has Cureii and Speedy Recoveryii but I’m really struggling to get past race 10. Do you have any tips?
Hmm I forget what race 10 is, but if it's not Sagolii, probably more Cunning! Investing into Cunning for my G8 was very helpful for me when I did the chocobo challenges. I went back and forth a lot on Cunning and Endurance. For challenges, using Training can be very helpful (even if it won't carry on at all during breeding)
Depends what you mean but the short answer is no. Having a higher rating does place you in higher races which in turn have more obstacles and better AI. However you don’t need a perfect chocobo to get into higher rated races. Within the same race bracket, a perfect chocobo will do better (provided you do your training and skills in a way that makes a good build). So if you’re in R-300 with a perfect you are not at a disadvantage. I win against the NPCs all the time. If anything the problem is having an UNperfect chocobo. I knew someone with a terrible grade 9. Like it was just horrendous. He finished so many races as DNF, because the NPCs would destroy his stamina, that he had trouble getting his chocobo to rank 40 and couldn’t retire it to try to fix it by breeding. He eventually did but he had to do a lot of races to get it done. It is possible for a perfect chocobo to perform terribly by screwing up their training stats such as having high max speed and acceleration while having low stamina and endurance. This could cause an extreme stamina imbalance that will put you at a disadvantage against any player (real or NPC).
@@Squintina ok thats good to hear, im still working on a perfect bird but currently pedigree 6, i was already at pedigree 4 when i started worring about stats and seen your video. Trying to fix it without starting over and almost got it there. But my friend said that if you had all stats with 4Star then the npc birds would be too good for you to beat since they are always a bit better than your bird. But i can see how training it with lots of stamina and endurance would be the best way to compete. Thanks for the reply and guidance.

@@Squintina It never clicked in my brain that this video wasn't supposed to be a guide even though it was probably said >
@@Squintina I know it has been a while, but glad to see this video has more likes.
Amazing Video, best I've seen 👌. Amazing video editing and information clearly displayed, went over everything. 👏 Subbed Thank you!
Love this guide! Thanks to it, I managed to get both pedigree 7 male and female with all 4 stars already ^_^. Again, thank you for the guide!
Edit: I am definitely doing this :D I am making my first Pedigree 2 Chocobo. ^_^
Oh my goodness. This is so.... complex. And definitely time consuming. I appreciate it, but I do not see myself doing this indefinitely.
Completely understandable as it IS rather time consuming (especially if RNG is being mean). I can't believe I did this TWICE lol.
This guide is so much better than any other chocobo guide ive seen on YT, i would ask for more but you just had a baby so congrats!!
finished breeding my perfect chocobo following this. thank you mam. hope you and the kid are doing alright
Congratulations!! I’m sure it was a lot of effort!
And yes, we are doing great. Got another one on the way too!
@@Squintina yeaaa it was alot T_T ohh and congrats! best wishes to you and your family
I did the same thing, but with the Snow White colour and also Pedigree 1.
100K MGP gone in Grade 1 and I made sure they all had at least 4 sets of max stars, one of them had 6!
If I had the MGP to do it, I probably would have spent that much lol. (My alt had barely just unlocked the gold saucer when I started the whole thing)
Thank you for the guide. Now I understand what I should do. Let me get to work now.
You got this!
You talk fast. And I love it. You also don't beat around the bush to create a 30 minutes video. And I love it. This is my favorite demonstration/guide so far.
Wowzers.. just got a G2 with 7 stars!
Great video! Chocobo racing is my guilty pleasure.
Thanks! One of these days I’ll get around the training guide! I’m quite behind on my video content backlog because of IRL.
Appreciate you, This helped me a ton!
Thank you so much for the chocobo guide. Can't wait to see more!
He did and then he was able to fix his chocobo much easier.
probably the best chocobo breeding video in youtube
loved this video so much with the little jokes and super easy explanation keep it up :D
Thanks! Gonna apply some of this when breeding.
This is such a good guide. Can't wait for a training guide.
Nice guide, thank you, I am following it step by step, now at the G3
One was being worked on, and is like 90% done, but due to extraneous circumstances it has not been released.
Thanks for the guide
I had the luck of having my Full stars at Pedigree 7
And the first P9 I registered had foul weather
My final stats are 500-290-460-500-500 Choco Cure 3 and Speedy Recovery 3
It took me 2 weeks and i'll never do it again
Very nice!!!!! (imagine how I felt doing this twice!)
Crazy
Might just be extra lucky! (Though if they did change the RNG I wouldn’t be surprised.)
Excellent video!
Glad you liked it!
@@Squintina what is the best skills for the chocobo? I nearly have a prefect bird now, however I am not sure what skills to give it

I'm following this currently to help breed lol so far so good!

Gold Saucer Savage when? Squeenix plz!

Hey loved the video even though i already have a 20 star grade 9 chocobo :D
Looking forward to the training video as well.
Squintina:
Came back to the video a few times over the course of breeding, and I wanted to make sure I understood the guide correctly.
When you retire, you get to pick which action to pass on. So just make sure to pick Head Start on both!
@@Squintina Ah, ok, thank you very much! Looking forward to this experience. P2 got a 4/5 4 star on 10th try, little bit hyped now :D

your video really helped me out ive got right into this, ive been looking for the follow up video about traning when at rank 9 i cant find the guide do you have one?
Thank you!
is the final guide available yet, the one mentioned in this video? thanks bunch if I could get link
hi. I stumbled across this and found it very useful, my chocobo ended up with dressage III as a hereditary ability, did I mess up? only G3 though
G9s can still breed, they just make other G9s)
new to this as of this morning. my 4th G2 Fledgling has 5/10 4 stars :O
so I get her to 40 now. then breed her with more Coverings..
when you get a perfect 10x 4 star Chocobo to Rank 40 and retire it
you still have to then breed it with a Covering to get it to next level?
sorry if im confused
tested it myself, training doesnt change your ranking. only improves your stats.
10:03 - Ah, such is life
My Chocobo is a pedigree four & has all her 4 stars on everything.
Then in trainings: 235,375
I could have spent a LOT less in trainings, but since I was working on making a list of all prizes for all ranks for all races (yes I'm crazy like that), I had to spend a lot more on trainings than actually necessary to level up.
So 287,605 MGP total, not including the final chocobo's trainings which I still haven't made time for, but you can do it for a heck of a lot cheaper by skimping out on training.
@@Squintina Damn that is A lot lol
Really appreciate the work you put into making an in depth video like this. So helpful and breakdowns pretty much all you need to know how to breed a perfect champ 👌 New subscriber keep it up
Thanks! Currently on break from video making until EW releases though, to prevent burnout.
Do you wait until lvl 50 to feed?
So I never got around to the training guide but no you don't wait until 50 to feed. On your last chocobo, you pick your priority stats (depends on your build) and then you try to get at least one of them lined up so it's a multiple of 15 away. Example: If it's at 350, that's 150 away, that's 15x10.
If you wait until 50 you could end up losing out on some stats because of the way the RNG level ups work. So typically it's somewhere in the 35-45 range for your priority stats, and then at 50 the remaining trainings are used on the lesser priority stats.
@@Squintina what is the best possible stat spread?
@@maxwell4322 There are multiple viable builds and many of those will depend on whether you're only farming Sagolii (for achieves) or whether you like variety for different races.
Since I never got around to making a guide on this (and probably won't for at least another year with all the things happening IRL right now), and it would be a lot to write in a comment, I'm going to give a shout out to someone else's guide that has excellent builds that include both actions and stat priorities.
ffxivchocoboracing.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/advanced-endgame-builds/
It's from 2015 but it's still accurate.
@@Squintina thank you! Currently training up pedigree 4, a bit of a ways to go yet

There is no help, only insanity. Best of luck!
My question is I found once I hit rank 40 I not been able to place more then 8th place there been maybe 3 time the game smiled on me and with the track items managed to finish 7th my Chocobos abilites I have set are his Hereditary dressage 3 (had no choice on that was from his bought covering parent) and Increased Stamina 3, with out the dressage 3 I wouldnt be getting the 530 exp for 8th so I was wondering if it would hurt maxing out what I can I I started doing some of the Training now some maybe I can place higher then 8th and hit rank 50 faster?
ty for the video. one quetion though. when i tried changing my inherited ability they said they can't do that. so how did you?
I"m a new player so i didn't know that you could unlearn an ability, unlearn it and get a new random one every new level. i thought it was just at lvl 10. thanks! did wht you did and got head start.

heyooo :D
so each time i have a fledgeling i have to level it up to 40 so i can use it for the next breeding?
Yeah needs to be 40 to be able to retire for the next generation.
What is your favorite course?
Sagolii because it’s the sunniest and shortest!
For challenges, using Training can be very helpful (even if it won't carry on at all during breeding)
where is the training video?
hello, i am working on a perfect chocobo but i herd that it makes the NPC races to hard if you have a perfect chocobo, is that the case?
