This and the general overview have been FANTASTIC! A heroic undertaking effectively and clearly executed. Easy to listen to and follow. I really loved the conversational format and the way you built up each element of the character. Excited for the future installments! :)
I am so glad you found it and enjoyed it :) - We have 5 more on the way in this format! For me the conversational format is helpful - it is how we teach each other games - it takes a bit longer but I think it is worth it!
Thank you! Just picked this up and it’s a monster to learn/teach. I appreciate your character-specific guidance and the two-person presentation helps cover the angles nicely. Very well executed, thanks!
Excellent video, it is great to see the individual explanations of each character, they give an overview of the game, however, I think that added to this the best way to understand it is with a gameplay since like Vast the Crystal Caverns, the game has various interactions between roles that can only be seen by observing a complete Game; I think it's a great job, congratulations and thanks for taking the time to make the videos.
Thanks so much for checking the video out and letting us know your thoughts! We do a mix of gameplay, how to play, overviews and such - it is always a balance of how much time we put into a single game on the channel. For Vast MM, we thought an in-depth how to play would be the most useful for the community as a whole - for a display of how the game operates you are correct, gameplay would show that off better!
Hey there, I know its a 2 year old comment, but I really think about buying this game in a few days and there are not so many people on the internet talking about it, so I was wondering, after 2 years of you buying it, do you recomend it and how much did you enjoy it? Thanks!
I didn't think i really wanted this game, since i have vast: the crystal caverns and expansion and felt it was just a re-skin on the same game. But with the theme change and changes in characters and mechanics for said characters, i feel this is now a must have after seeing your videos. They are sooooo well done. Well, there goes another $80
Thank you for checking the Videos out and letting me know :) - the game has some improvements from classic vast - personally I think they have grown and a company and really brought a cool. Game to the market - also it can be cross compatible so that’s cool :)
Quackalope This is a struggle for me too. I own everything for TCC and have been waffling on whether I need this. You guys do a nice job showcasing TMM for sure.
I really appreciate the 4K video. It makes the quality pop. :) One tip! Show us the playerboard while talking about the things you can do on it. A picture says more than thousand words. We're mostly seeing the playerboard upside down (ref. 07:08). Looking forward to the next video!
Yea I need to add in some more b-roll and / or a front shot more often. It’s a hard balance to strike and figuring out the best camera angle is always a dance :)
Great explanation! 1 contradiction I believe! Initially you said the p has to enter a room in order to explore- towards the end of rhe video you described placing a treasure token on a revealed room while the p was in an adjacent room! The p player board says during crusade the p can move zero spaces and then reveal a tile. This seems unclear in the rule book too!
The past can be a burden, and I have years to lift, my enemy lies in the depths of this Manor longing to terrorize the world and feed on that fear. Last time, I lost an arm, but I have never lost my faith, I will fight once again against that creature that crawls on the roof and walls of this house. and if someone tries to interrupt my crusade, I will let my hand and my sword be guided by the light.
Sorry one more question to add. Does running into a web stop all movement for that turn for a paladin or can that paladin just pay another move if available to continue their movement? @quackalope
Could you do this type of full faction break down for Root? I am having trouble getting my friends and family to play root because it can be confusing at times
I think a play example would be better to be honest. Set up a series of moves that goes through everything. Far more interesting than having you explain every rules nuance.
Certainly could be - however covering every element and trying to teach / display the full game would be a whole challenge on its own and require multiple staged scenarios or a full gameplay with 5 players involved - we wanted this series to allow players to watch / listen and know enough to get a game started! We could have incorporated more play examples - so we will keep that in mind moving forward!
Question! So if I decide to play Paladin and say someone decide they want to play Skeletons. But there no Spider... How does the paladin win? Would someone be force to play spider or is there an alternative objective?
It's explained in the rulebook that is not a possible variation to play. However with some creativity and goalpost-adjustment, maybe you can find a way to have a Paladin/Skeleton 2-player game.
Around 12:45 we specifically talk about the tiles including pits and what they do - at one point in the video I believe I mistakenly place a poltergeist on a pit tile during an example of another action but I leave the camera pulled back to reduce confusion.
I reduced the volume in the next few - for me music keeps my attention and brings me into the videos! It might just be me - but all my videos (outside of interviews) will have music in some form.
First time playing and I call BULLCRAP on not knowing what other people are doing. I guess that's fine for the first time playing if you want to LOSE. The whole table took your advice and the wizard DOMINATED the game because there were so many Poltergeists and everyone was just avoiding them and not killing them. People were frustrated and the Paladin decided to purposefully lose so he wouldn't have to keep playing. This game is only fun if everyone is patient and willing to admit when they make mistakes.
With games like vast and root the first game is always a teaching game and requires the table to be patient and willing to teach and learn. You need to know and learn the other players objectives sure - but everyone trying to learn all the characters before game one is unrealistic. I’m sorry you had a bad first experience with the game - it sounds like more information should have been shared around the table for the first game (or the DM should have been more vocal about the table state) - each role has reasons for interacting with chests, poltergeists, and tiles - if they didn’t than the game can be unbalanced like yours sounds.

Another great video, and rules-writer approved! Everything you said is correct.
This comment is amazing XD

Glad it was helpful!
It really took me time to notice the paladin is missing an arm...
What a badass !

Just got the game because of these vids and now watching again so I’m ready to play! Thanks so much and QUACK!!!

Great…appreciate the teaching. Thanks much

This is one of the best yet :P - I like how descriptive it is!
There are links missing to Manor, Warlock, Shadow Paladin, and Armored Knight videos in the description.
Awesome vid!
Thank you!
Hello I'm just getting into this game did you ever get around to breaking down all characters? I see 3
Thanks for those usefull vidéos. The music is beautiful but don't help to focus on understanding the rules though.
For sure :) - it was a little loud - we have adjusted that in the newest videos on the channel.
Sorry one more question to add. Does running into a web stop all movement for that turn for a paladin or can that paladin just pay another move if available to continue their movement? @quackalope

Maybe once the new expansion comes out?
Does a torch take out just one web token or all web tokens on the tile?
What song/music did you use for background?
I used a mix from epidemic sounds.
DONT WORRY ABOUT IT
What is the soundtrack for the video?
It all comes from epidemic sounds.
Finally! :)
They are all on the way XD
If the Pally drops a Pillar of Light on the exit tile, how exactly is the spider able to escape?
Hmm - I am not sure XD
The exit tile cannot be blocked by effects.

Please let me add subtitles :D
I want to translate it to Portuguese!
I am not exactly sure how to do this - but I can look into it.

Also, PITS do not spawn poltergeists, your description in this video confused one of our players...
Around 12:45 we specifically talk about the tiles including pits and what they do - at one point in the video I believe I mistakenly place a poltergeist on a pit tile during an example of another action but I leave the camera pulled back to reduce confusion.
Wish you would have explained the objectives when Spider is not present in the game.
Great video! Please remove the music, if adds nothing.
I reduced the volume in the next few - for me music keeps my attention and brings me into the videos! It might just be me - but all my videos (outside of interviews) will have music in some form.
