Phil needs more attention as a drummer, he's not the flashiest type who can rock your socks off with a superhuman solo but he knows whats best for a song and keeps a tempo like a machine
Probably 2nd best Phil drummer
drummers see his genius, he knows exactly how to not only provide but liven the beat its so beautiful
One word: Airbag
@@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy6 he does go pretty hard on that one ye
Serves the song, like they all do
Didn't realize Ed was 27 feet tall
*28
When you see him stand next to Thom it’s mind boggling
@@WickedLiquid 6'5'' versus 5'5''
It's actually Hugh Laurie on top of Thom in a trench coat
Your mom knows. 😂
Ed has a strong presence on stage. Phil and Ed are probably the most articulate and well spoken members of Radiohead. They seem the most comfortable with being in the limelight. Although, recent interviews show Thom appearing very comfortable in his skin these days, which is nice to see.
As much as I love Johnny and Thom, it's a bit like getting two teenagers to do a presentation at school. They are not well known for being confident in front of a crowd.
Nah, Colin is the best one, but these to are definitely the right men to do this 😉
@@the_oslovian Just about to comment this. He has a really large vocabulary, and is naturally cordial.
@@syrup- Degree in English will do that 😉
@@the_oslovian I mean, so do Thom & Phil.
Their albums are the soundtrack of my life
Me too pal
@@williamberry2351 not in a musical theatre sense, I mean I play the albums most days hahaha
@@user-iz9co4qf6z high school and college were horrific experience for me but Radiohead got me through the storm. they're also the soundtracks of me growing up.
Same
Hugely deserved. By the way, I can't think of many bands that never changed their lineup in almost 35 years.
Not many, it's true! a-ha, 39 years... U2, 45 years... ZZ Top, 51 years
@@kevinb9n true but less members
Well, Radiohead has. It's one band until The Bends and a different one after OK Computer.
@@enricobrasil That's not true. The band has had the same five members since 1985.
Wow amazing point.
Met Phil one evening after they played the Palladium. He was so soft spoken and kind. I thanked him for a great show and he said something to the effect of “the pleasure was all mine, thank you for coming to see us”.
Isn't that exactly what you'd want him to say. Short and sweet.
Phil is so humbly sweet and kind. When he smiled, it kind of warmth my heart a bit. lol
Love Phil❤️
This guys are very talentEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDD
Can you imagine if his speech was just a 10 minute “EEEEEEEEEEEEEED”
I’d still cry and feel everything all of the time.
Phil - "We may not be the greatest musicians around" - Pretty damn good in my book!
Seriously two lovely acceptance speeches. Radiohead has gotten a lot of flack over the years for how they're perceived in the media and in public, but this induction and their acceptance shows just how genuine and humble they really are. The fact they've been doing this for over 30 years without a change in their lineup is a testament to their character. Would have been great to see the whole band up on stage to accept the honor, but Phil and Ed did splendidly on their own.
reading about some of the shit the band have been through too, it’s extremely surprising how long they have persisted together
Just looking at Ed’s face (his suit!!!) is everything. Love Edddd
Phil = 👁👃🏻👁
Ed = 🗿

My god. Ed seems so shook up by this ceremony. Ive never really heard him much in the interviews so its so surreal to see him express such gratitude
Follow him on Instagram. He does lives with fans all the time and he’s always very humble.
There's plenty of interviews with guitar magazines/rig stuff etc. on UA-cam!
Phil is too humble and cool to not like him...
I KNOWWW RIGHT
They ARE the best band in the world. 100%. No if's ands or buts....

Nah he is Hugh Laurie
Ed looks like a movie star.
He looks like a leading actor for sure. If he ever decides to go down that route, he'd looked awesome on screen but he's a musician.
@@Wanderersea he literally looks like an upgraded version of hugh grant. tall, alpha male face structures.

It's impossible to summarize in a few words how much Radiohead has contributed to the music industry and the people that listen to them. They're beyond extraordinary, and their legend keeps growing up by each day that passes.
I love radiohead since 1996, favorite band along with The Beatles.
Phil Selway is a "drummer's drummer". Non-drummers are often impressed by obnoxious showy solos. But Phil is absolutely surgical with his rhythms. He's from the school of drummers like Jaki Leibezeit of Can, or Aidan Girt of Godspeed You Black Emperor. Drummers known for machine-like precision that is actually harder to do than a big sloppy egoic solo.
Another “drummer’s drummer” is Questlove!
I second this. I listened to a lot of Radiohead at the beginning of this year and Phil really inspired me to be more comfortable as a pocket drummer and not feel the need to develop mind-blowing chops
I picked up a guitar for the first time around when Kid A came out. I'll admit, as a kid, Thom and Johnny took all of my attention. But over the years, especially after seeing them live, Phil and Colin are the main drivers of the sound that is Radiohead. Thom and Johnny just don't sound as good to me without them. And then Ed is like this wonderful glue that fills in everywhere where he's needed.
Absolutely true. As a drummer and a recent Radiohead fan, I love listening to Phil's work (Jigsaw being a particular favourite). He reminds me a lot of Larry Mullen in terms of how he serves the music, and not his own ego.
Khruangbin's drummer too, he keeps tempo like his life depends on it!
Best British rock band since The Beatles - Change my mind...
@jsrmn jsrmn Echo and the Bunnymen are legit

Well deserved of course. This band is one of the all time greats and probably one of the most influential bands of the last 25 years.
Phil once said “I sit down at the drums and have to think... oh yeah, I’m in Radiohead, well this won’t be waltz time”
😊
This is the most I've ever heard phill selway talk
Simply the best band of them all...!!!! No if's, ands or buts. Thanks Radiohead for All your beautiful music you have given us, that has moved, touched and most of all soothed us all!!!
Phil truly is one of the best drummers out there. He does some stuff that few drummers would think of and executes it flawlessly.
Ok, so Ed made me cry.
It was so lovely to hear Phil speak .. really was.
not me watching this in 2020 and crying
When Ed shared the importance of their love for one another, you could perhaps see a glimmer in David's eye that this is something missing from his career. Maybe he felt the love with Brian Eno, but certainly not so much with Talking Heads.
Such a shame to be honest.
But aside from that, just imagine the way Ed and Phillip felt when they were introduced by one of the members of the very band that they took their name from, amazing.
I wasn’t aware can you elaborate more? Idk much background on talking heads
@@86hills59 oh, you’ve got an adventure! Check out the music/documentary-ish “Stop Making Sense.” A super great way to get into Talking Heads.
@@sleedeal8010 thanks will check out
The individuals in this band have created something much larger then the whole. I will always attribute this band with saving my life. They pulled me out of the darkness with golden ropes of sound and reset my chakra 💚
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame didn't deserve Radiohead. :)
The best there is ,and the best there'll ever be.
These people are scientists of music.
And they take it very seriously, as should.
I don't know anyone like them today.
After them it's all dead.
They are the last ones.
Queens Of The Stone Age still exists.
Agreed. Spot on
Nah there's good new stuff out if you don't give up on looking for it.
music never dies
lol Radiohead is awesome but there is so much good music. Chill
deserved this award so fucking long ago
Great guys. We are so lucky Radiohead exists.
Love them. Totally got me through the nineties.
Yup.. can relate.
Which is crazy because they didn’t even hit their stride until the new millennium
The greatest band in the world deserves this and every single thing.
Ed is a tall talent!
Love the band
They are as same level as Pink Floyd
So creative so talented
They both wrote, sang and produced two of the greatest albums of all time.
Thank God Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine is on the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now, all the bands that actually deserve to be in there are getting in.
I didn’t know that but def couldn’t agree more. Hasn’t RATM been nominated? Seems unlikely they’ll get in with only a few albums…but Morello is particularly influential
@@sleedeal8010 Morello showed that you don’t need to shred to be a great guitarist, he was amazing at creating new sounds and effects with his playing (same as EOB)
They deserved this so much. Thank you my brothers and sisters... we are one
best band of all time.
It’s not often I say this but I’m blown away by this band. They are so talented and I never get bored of there sound. Lucky enough to see them live and somehow they are even better live.
Great great great band
It's too long to wait my Radiohead in rock and roll hall of fame, but finally got it in 2019
This makes me cry. How I love these men.
More than a band.
@jsrmn jsrmn An idea. A mood. A feeling. An emotion. An antidote. An escape. How lucky are we to exist in the same universe as Radiohead.
@jsrmn jsrmn A drug. An antidepressant. A concept.

heartwarming. such a moving band, they have impressions on my life. congratulations, radiohead, and thank you.
They should’ve all been there. Cudos to the two most grounded members actually showing up and saying thank you.
They did it the right way. Perhaps they didn't want to 100% endorse it but neither did they want to deal with the controversy of a 'snub'. Very English response you might say
I was a bit surprised Colin didn’t show. Thom and Jonny, sure, but seems like Colin would be okay with it.
Jonny and Colin are grounded
Thom isn’t as much
But yeah, Colin seems like he would have went
this made me cry honestly its so sincere and i love it
2:51 Tent Reznor smiling subtly, from one master of sound design and scales to another
I watched the Grammys this year (2023) and most of the music was missing the integrity, exploration, inventiveness, intelligence, depth and brilliance of this band.
The tide will come in again. Currently we're in the middle of the culmination of the social media era. Filters on photos, autotune, capitalism at its nadir. When the house of cards collapses and the epidemic of mental health issues kicks in. When the economies contract after Covid/Ukraine etc. When young people get sick of the boomer generation pulling up the ladder. When people tire of the Kardashians facade and the rich ignoring climate change. When the woke backlash fades and people just see the sadness and anger that propells it. Then, the tide will come in and it will be a wave of art not seen since the 60s with undeniable meaning at its core. It's going to be awesome.
how lovely these two
phil is so cute and charming congrats to him!!
Radiohead la mejor banda de todos los tiempos!!
Thom would never ever be in that stage indeed lol
God bless radiohead
Ed is the goat
Mr Clean and his Milkman
We don’t do run of the mill stuff... what an understatement!
Ed is so wholesome man.
Such an incredible band. They're my favorite band.
The bends, Ok computer, Amnesiac.......cool, cool records.
They're lovely guys, and I'm glad they acknowledge the induction as a big fucking deal! I was rooting hard for them to get in, so it's nice to see them also happy about it.
Dude i shat my fuckin britches when I saw Phil's solo stuff, Ed's too. Phil is a great guitarist too.
Long overdue

Thank you radiohead
Excellent band
Radiohead became the best British band since The Bends came out in 1995.
Radiohead is Everything!!!

Pure Class.
He just seems like such a lovely man. I have a friend whos mum used to go for walks with him
THE GREATEST !
Radiohead are huge snubs! Love Nirvana but I would argue that Radiohead is even bigger! They are still relevant today and they STILL have the SAME original lineup! They are one of the most important rock bands in history!
Jonah Schwartz
Snubs? They were inducted on their first year of eligibility
Jonah Schwartz Radiohead is billion light years away from Nirvana. I wouldn't even compare.
nick aglyc they’re in completely different genres. They’re both amazing
nick aglyc lmaoo
I disagree not every or knows the name RADIOHEAD. More ppl know of Kurt cobain and nirvana.
These guys are one talented band.

Best live band ever. Saw them 2 times at Blossom Music Center in Cayahoga Falls, Ohio.
Still by far the best band y in the world.
I really inspire all radiohead band guitarists very MYSTERIOUS, and also really know musical notation for people who listen to it.
I ♥ Radiohead.

Phil is an underrated drummer, but I wonder why Jonny, Colin, and Thom couldn’t be there

It takes him FOREVER to say thank you.......

My Goats💯💕💕
yep i cried
Phil Selway, what a drummer.
Radiohead are my all-time favourite band, tbh they're a lot more than that for me.
They're a representation of a desperate generation, desperate to exist harmoniously with all around, environment, each other, flora and fauna...
Pointing out that more often than not, we're more human than human, to pinch a phrase.
It's a messed up world, the clock feels like it's running down.
Then Radiohead release another album, harmony is restored, or a empathy relating with us all, one consciousness crying out for humility and change.

He was inducting Deff leppard
Thom would be ecstatic. He has said that Queen was among his first musical influences.
One of the hardest tones/styles to emulate. Very unique player and songwriter imo.
As much as I Love radiohead I love even more that ed and phil get to be the only ones there and have their moment. Always overshadowed by thom and jonny and yet here they Are, =) Enjoy it boys.
