Great video Brothers! I have a mix of older, brand new, and symfonisk products. Started with a playbass from eBay in 2019 for $260, now I have 2 play1s, 3 play 5s (gen 2), and 1 play 3 all used and all going strong.
I stumbled upon a Sonos Playbar in a thrift store I visit every weekend ......didn't know what it was, never heard of the name. Took a gamble on it for $69.99. Bought an optical cabl e for it(rocketfish) for $40 . Put both together--what incredible sound!!! So for $110-120 I have theatre-like sound . And the SPB is 11 yrs old!
Hi brother i have Sonos play 3 and Sonos play 5 I want to hook up together and I can’t 😢, I can do for separate but no together, can you guys help me up whit any idea, I really appreciate any help .
6 Sonos 1s 3s and 5 - all 5 of them are 8 years old and running strong. I did have a warranty at year 3 on the 5 but mostly trouble free. Not sure what feature I am actually missing. Never going to brick them - still very happy with them. but… I would not be surprised if their eventually maliciously hacked since not being updated.
Thanks for the video, Brothers! Quick question - do you think I can connect a pair of Play 1's as rear speakers with Sonos Beam (gen 2) for surround sound? I have a pair of Sonos ERA 100, would they sound better (only because they are newer) ?
Would you recommend a gen 1 Sonos speaker (play 3 or 5) if I don't plan to link it to any other sonos speakers? I'm just looking for the best possible single speaker sound for the lowest price.
Nice thing about the Play5 is that it has a line-in port, so it’s more versatile as a single speaker. If you’re getting it at a good price, I’d say go for it!
You can get either and they’ll work great! However, if you plan to use 2 subs in your setup then you’ll need to make sure that at least one of them is gen 3. Hope that helps!
I own a gen 1 and a gen 3. I understand they are very similar save for processing power. They certainly look to be a match except for a few minor cosmetic differences.
@@beachidiotthis video stating to only buy a gen 2 is pretty silly. That is only for people who care about this ecosystem. I just bought a gen 1 to use in the kitchen and it works perfectly. I don’t care about the app except to do the initial setup and then just use Spotify. You did better than me I paid $9 for it. My house is full of true hifi equipment. Sonos does not make any sense for surround sound like these guys are stating unless you like to spend a lot more for worse sound quality.
I currently have 2 Sonos Play 1's (Gen 1) and thinking about adding a couple used Play 3's to help fill the space and bolster the sound. I would eventually like to add a sub and other speakers. Would the Play 1's and 3's become a closed-end system or would they allow the ability to add components later? I currently only use them for playing music via Apple Music.

Love it!! Playbase has been an awesome addition to my setup.

Have you tried connecting the Play 3 to the S1 app? That would be the only way to use it with the Play 5.
New sub!!!
Awesome video brothers!!
So much valuable information. Thank you. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Play 1s would definitely work in this setup but the Era 100s would give you better overall sound.
On a different question, can I use a play 5 (gen 1) with Sonos Connect (gen 2) and still keep them within Sonos S2?
Nope
Sonos 3 trying to airplay to tv so hard only radio speaker basically now sorta sucks

So lets say theoretically you are looking for a sub? Would you get gen 1, 2 or 3. I know they are all similar…

I just bought my first Sonos speaker, a Play 5 gen 1 😢, but I got iron a Thrift store for 6 bucks. Thought I did good, but sounds like maybe I didn't.

You can use them on the S2 app which takes advantage of the newer products.
Are the Play 3 good as surround speakers for a Beam gen 2? I can get then cheaper than Play 1
Yeah, they should work great! Remember the Play3s have an extra driver so should output a little more sound than the Play1s.
thanks. very usefull
No folks, don't buy this garbage
The old stuff or Sonos in general?
I agree
Sonos is horrible, The app is a nightmare and you get locked into the ecosystem which is way overpriced.
That’s what you get with Sonos and believe most people don’t realize that until after they’ve purchased a product.
