Thanks for the demo! Tweet Protocol stated below that two Play 1s sounded better than one Play 3. What's your opinion? Not sure if you have a pair of the Play 1s or not. I suppose the stereo affect would be the most noticeable advantage with two Play 1s. Is there a drop off of overall dynamics? Probably less base, but maybe two Play 1s equate to the same base level as one Play 3?
I’m not sure if you read this anymore. But i just have to ask, i heard rumors about something about the updates for the older sonos speakers. Me and my fiance just bought a house, i have four Play 1:s since 7 years back which works great. Now i have bought one extra play 1 and two extra play 3. Waiting on the to arrive (Ebay). I bought these older generations due to that i already have 4 of them and of course the price but now. Is it still a possibility to pair these speakers together Play 1 and Play 3. Or have Sonos done something about the updates on this older generation so i’m not able to do that anymore?
nice review 👍 sounds like 1s have more snap when that beat comes in. sounds (at least over youtube) a bit more tight and round 🤔
I still think pair of play 1's sound better at lower volume then pair of play 3's. Plus highs on play 1s are a bit higher. Based on my sound tests. 1 more thing. You can hear more base from play 1s when they are standing on flat surface versus having them wall mounted. The difference is: play 3s sound better at higher volume.
So when I get the 5.1 system I should go with two play1s instead of two play3s?
If I can afford the play 3's go with them. However u will be content with the one's.

Two play one's paired in stereo is the way to go. Sounds amazing and far superior to the play 3
Thank you, Tweet Protocol! I'm trying to decide between one Play 3 or two Play 1s in the front living room that has an "open to above" ceiling. I can mount them fairly high, about 8 inches lower than the top of the window on either side. They won't look as bulky either, and I don't need them that powerful, as I have a stereo system in the family room thirty feet away. I had one Play 3 in the front living room before and it sounded great. Problem was I just had it resting on top of a 4 foot sculpture. Not the best. I could maybe mount the Play three in the corner, but now that you say two Play 1s sound better than one Play 3, I'm leaning more towards that. I'm hoping I can pair them in the same "Living Room" zone together!
Is there only 1 Gen of Play 3s?

Both speakers require power and need to be plugged in, they are not battery based.

"These products look similar to each other"???? One is a smaller vertical tube-shape, the other a larger lay-down rectangle. They are completely different. Also, just because the 3 is bigger, does not give it more treble. I'm sorry, you really need to at least get your facts straight. A larger cabinet will affect bass, but treble does not use the cabinet resonance so bigger does not mean more. Again, knowledge. When you pair them, you can't play one thing on one speaker and something else on the other. That is not pairing. Paring gives them distinct left and right channels of the same content. I think you're making stuff up as you go along.
