To put The Adeptus Mechanicus's technology issues in context, they are like modern people who rely on phones for everything, but don't know how to fix their phone and the company that made them has been closed since The Roman Empire collapsed.
And we KNOW what human texh at its peak was capable of. As a few examples, One of the Forge Worlds of the adeptus Mechanicus is a DYSON SPHERE, another isn't a world at all but a massive FTL-capable orbital ring that orbits a planet to harvest resources it turns into things with it's countless factories.
FTL in Warhammer is literally opening a portal to Hell, travelling through that, and coming out the other side.

The 2 missing legions are only known as "The Lost and The Forgotten" and that with the lore that the other 18 Primarchs had their memories of them erased.
With more than 30 years of lore, we still don't know what happened to them.

We don't have concrete lore, but we know what generally happened from context clues and vague references. One fell to the Rangdan, another likely did a big no no and had dangerously divergent space marines, which led to his cleansing. We can guess the former from the existence of the Rangdan Xenocides, and the latter from Sanguinious's canon paranoia that the Red Thirst and Black Rage would end up getting himself and his own legion 1984'd like The Lost and The Forgotten.

There is some maybe stuff. Before chaos threw them everywhere they were called subjects 0-22. We know subject 0 was the first attempt to make a one to one clone of big e. Didn’t go well. We know the 2nd was killed by Russ and horus tried to bring him back kinda like how he was brought back but he lost the body. 11th is unknown as there’s no lore if he died but there is prisoner on Tera called subject 11 which can be the original code name for the primarchs so the 11th primarch. There are a lot of stuff that could be them but never enough to outright say it’s them.

So about Space Marines or in High Gothic Adeptus Astartes. After the Horus Heresy the loyalist legions were divided into chapters, one of which were allowed to keep the original name and insignia, and none of them can exceed 1000 marine mark unless the chapter is on a crusade. Black Templars, one of the successors of Imperial Fists legion, are eternally on crusade, due to turning the previous mentioned rule into a loophole and now no one knows how many Black Templar Astartes are out there.

  • @Crynogar

The Eversor is sadly a bit mistold by Bricky. Here a bit of correction.
Yes they are HEAVILY psychologically and mentally conditioned, but not "Clockwork Orange" style.
They have extremely hightened aggression, but they can focus it on their intended target.
Imagine these assassins like a completely overclocked PC. Their body, mind and nervoussystem operate on ludicrous speedlevels, even compared to a Spacemarine. After these former "humans" are completely converted to Eversors, they HAVE to be cryoed, because their bodies would stop functioning after just some weeks, to I think 2 or 3 months at the really hard maximum.
So they are dropped as near as possible to their target, get their target(s) mentally imprinted on the drop and take the fastest and bloodiest way imaginable to their target and after completion (and hopefully surviving) take the fastest way to their cryo, to be frozen again. Think of it as, the shorter the time, they are unfrozen, the more uses you get out of one of those assassins. Like a one-use Battery, that can only used until it is empty and has a certain 'lifetime' left.
An Eversor is one of the most bloody and loud messages you can get, if the Imperium is definitely not pleased with your existence. They definitely don't actively kill friendly troops (normally included in their mental imprint) but they will definitely go literally through you, if you are in their path or could slow them down in any way.
I one time read a short "report" of an Eversor who used up all his weapons on reaching the target and then making a complete bloodbath of the targets family and all household by using their silverware like spoons and stuff. Sadly I don't remember in wich book or codex I read it.
    Greetings from Germany :)
And welcome to the endless Rabbithole that is Warhammer/WH40K

Outside the lore, the 2 lost Primarchs were designed by GW to create a sense of mystery and a deeper background to the Great Crusade Era of the Imperium, given that there still is no answer as to where the Primarchs are or what happened to them even 10,000 years after their expulsion from Imperium records, there's still an enigma with their history and fate.
Inside the lore, the 2 lost Primarchs were wiped from history following seemingly traitorous implications, either from Chaos interference or for other reasons, while the Primarchs were most likely killed (I'll add to this eventually) their Gene-Sons were not killed, instead they were added to the Ultramarines' numbers. Overall there is basically nothing on the 2 Legions and what they did during the Great Crusade, their most notable inclusion is during the Rangdan Xenocides, a series of conflicts that involved elements of 9 Space Marine Legions, including the II and XI Legions against 3 Xenos Species, they were mentioned to have been a part of these conflicts, but in the aftermath, there was no trace of them.
There is a theory that the XI Primarch is still around, deep below the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra there is an underground complex that functions as a high security prison and vault known as the Dark Cells, where dangerous artefacts from the Dark Age of Technology and entities who pose an intergalactic threat are kept under constantly guard by Custodes Shadow Keepers. Inside there is cell that is labelled as "Project 11" which heavily implies that the XI Primarch is still alive and is locked up in the Dark Cells, something to add is when searching up "40k Project 11" the Lost Primarchs appear as the first result, giving possible credibility to the idea that the XI is still kicking. Whether or not GW uses this to potentially bring one of the Lost back into the current setting remains to be seen, but it would be cool if they did.

Running down the questions asked because I'm a lore nerd who loves watching this kind of stuff.
Why were the two primarchs purged from history? It is intentionally left vague, but the implication based on lore is that they were disappointments. As clones of the Emperor, Horus and the traitors may have been EVIL, but they showed that their imperial genetics were powerful. The two primarchs apparently had genetic mutations (or modifications) that made the emperor look weak.
"Innocence Proves Nothing" Because demons are so dang good at mental manipulation, and because the warp can turn normal people into weapons, it means any innocent person can still be a weapon. In the dark age of 40k (yes, it was darker), a careless psyker could find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful demon and be turned into a weapon that wipes out their entire planet. Just a billion people wiped out because some space wizard didn't protect their mind properly. They're not interested in innocence or goodness, only dangers.

Another TLDR: he’s not with his chapter at the moment, he’s too busy having fun… galavanting around in the warp soloing demon villages and graffitiing the chaos gods palaces. Every once in a while he pops back to reality and helps out his chapter, only to disappear back into the warp for another holiday. If you look in the dictionary for Mad lad, you’ll see his picture as the definition.

I'm sure its come up but legions are not an organizational unit anymore. It's honestly a little baffling Bricky never mentions it. In the aftermath of the Heresy all Legions were split into Chapters, orders of roughly 1,000 in a more reactive role. The command structure of the Chaos legions, meanwhile, functionally disintegrated. So they exist in various roving bands

24:19 It is an amplifier. He holds the rank of commissar, a political officer whose primary role is to maintain morale and discipline. It is to make sure his voice can be heard by friend and foe alike during battle. If shouts of encouragement and imperial doctrine prove insufficient, also through fear and the threat of summary execution at first sign of cowardice.
If needed, they can step in and replace any officer up to rank of colonel, whether that be because the officer fell in battle or the commissar judged their performance lacking. In the latter case, they will almost certainly have been put down by the commissar, no court martial or military tribunal required. They are there to make sure everyone else do their jobs and don't retreat without proper orders, or that they dont live to regret failing the Emperor.
Commissars stand apart even from most high-ranking officers in levels of unwavering commitment and fanaticism, having undergone both military and ideological training to an extreme degree. It is fair to say most guardsmen have mixed feelings about these people, as they are as likely to carry them to victory or be the end of them.

About the "inocense proves nothing" thing in the inquisition is that people may do some things without knowing, being manipulated in some way. Possession, Psycho conditioning, genetic manipulation, Psychic control, etc. In a way that person is inocent, because someone is using his body to do bad stuff, but that means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Some of these act have brought entire worlds to ruin. Billions of people dead, whole armies deployed, resorses lost, and in some really bad cases, exterminatus. So you actually could just lose a world to this. The inquisition has a VERY important job and being constrained by moral questions and bureaucracy isn't something they can aford to do.

    • @ExplodingIce
      @ExplodingIce 27 днів тому

Came here to say this. Also, the imperium at large does not know about demons or chaos. In fact, the inquisition believes that to even know about Chaos is more than enough of a reason to be killed, because just being aware of it is enough to make you vulnerable to demonic corruption. Most people are vaguely aware of Horus, and him wounding the emperor, and they know about the loyalist primarchs, but the existence of chaos corrupted primarchs is also a state secret. If the death guard invaded a planet, you could be killed just for living on the planet, even if you never set eyes on a single member of chaos just to be 10000% certain that you won't travel to another planet and accidentally spread chaos and cost the imperium untold billions as collateral

There is a bigger "mech" than the Imperial Knights
The Adeptus Mechanicus (the technology guys) have a sub faction that pilot things called Titans
Most Titans stand between 15 and 60 metres (about 50 to 196 feet) tall, though the extremely powerful and very rare Emperor Titans can stand up to 150 metres (492 feet) in height which is roughly the size of a building with 40 floors.

We actually have some VERY vague lore about the lost primarchs.
Of the two primarchs, one was "Lost" and the other was "damned." Presumably, this means that one fell in battle or before he could be recovered from their scattering, and one became either a traitor or suffered a uniquely horrifing death (believed to be at the hands of the alien species known as the Rangdan, which prompted the unspeakably brutal Rangdan Xenocides prior to the Horus Heresy). A lot of this is speculation or dubiously canon, but it's thought that one or both of them were executed by Leman Russ, which earned him the reputation as being the emperor's executioner. That being said, while those primarchs were erased from history after their demises, their space marines were not all executed as well. Instead, their history was expunged and those that were not executed were lumped into Guilliman's Ultramarines, which is the in-universe reason the Ultramarines were so prolific as a legion prior to the Horus Heresy.
All of this is an in-universe lore explanation for the missing primarchs, while OOC the reason for it is because the game devs wanted to let players design homebrew space marine chapters with nebulous backgrounds.
