Need to request one of these for Xmas. I use a similar tool at work for years but never bought one for my home use I also work on cars a ton. I may also consider one of those cheaper plastic ones to save a little storage space and money Right now i guess i could use my big tap & die kit to keep me going
Mark great info! I have some amplifiers that have cracked/missing mounting points. How would go about fixing them or mounting these Memphis prx amps without mounting tabs
I was given an Amp missing a lot of screws I've tried finding the right stuff but I think the power screw hole is messed up. Was wondering if I can re tap the hole
I HAVE A QUESTION SO A FRIEND OF MINE GAVE ME AN AMP BUT ITS MISSING BOTH FUSES HOW DO I KNOW WHAT FUSE BELONGS TO THE BUILT IN AMP FUSE??? (The fuses are squared diffrent colors like the ones u use for ur car) THE AMP DOESNT SAY THE WATTS OR BRAND NAME. The ONLY THING THAT IS ON THERE IS WHERE THE WIRE NEED TO CONNECT TO and screws
do u have the power accoustic rzr1-2500d or similar? if u do could u please tell me what the set screw size is... i just got 2 of these used and 1 of them is missing all of them and the other has the wrong screws
I’m usually on board with the advice of this channel, but I can’t get behind this. Hardware is so inexpensive and readily available that spending extra will never pay for itself. The fastest and easiest method is to just take the amp to a hardware store. If you deal with this somewhat regularly, then just buy a small set screw assortment. Also the wire stripper/crimper tools that are so common are also screw cutters. They have labeled threaded holes in them and the ability to cut them to length.
Whenever I see a tool and evaluate it's usefulness I think of ALL the applications it can be used in. Some other examples were shown in the video, but I also work on my own vehicles and other projects around the house. Having a simple tool set that allows me to simply identify screws whenever I need is far better than always driving to the hardware store, or in the case of something being impossible to bring into the hardware store, this is also beneficial. Also not sure if you have looked at prices lately at hardware stores, but to purchase a male and female of every size thread in that kit would definitely cost more, and often times you are forced into buying more than one of each. I guess it's kind of like when I recommend people buy a woodworking router and people question "Why would I get a router, I only need it one time for one project" when in reality it could be used for a ton of other non car audio projects too.
@@CarAudioFabrication I fully understand your point and perspective. I just can’t agree when I see 1000 piece metric/SAE stainless screw assortments for less than the cost of the tool to identify them. It’s nice having a tool for everything. Unfortunately I’m at the point that I need a tool to help remember where all my tools are. I apologize if my comment came across negative, I just simply disagree. Thank you for the content and for freely sharing your knowledge.
Why not just use the set screw kit and test wich one fits. Cant see the point of having a thred test kit when you have a kit with setscrews😂 I would be cheaper to buy a set with metric and imperial set, rather then first have to buy that stupid test kit then you have to buy the setscrews anyway
In the event you just want to buy the set screw you need right off the bat the kit is advantageous. Also the set screw kits don't have all lengths that you could potentially need. Not to mention the thread checking kit can be used for more in life than just checking one set screw hole.
Great info Mark. Ordering all 3.
Definitely nice to have it all on hand! Thanks for tuning in Angel!
****Nice! You're one of the best; tools, techniques, problems and solutions are on point!
Great info Mark, thank you sir!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm about to put that screw kit in my cart right now. Exactly what I needed after buying an infinity basslink off my friend.
Just found some used amps on FB marketplace and wonder how to address these missing terminals. Timely video sir!
Love the content keep it up big guy!
Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I have the thread checkers on a string. Love them and more than paid for themselves, but the string is a pain in the ass.

Awesome info and tips and tricks Mark! Keep it up. Love your channel.

How about if the terminal itself is stripped? What can I do to hold the speaker wire in place?

I'd recommend getting the kit on the video description so you cab identify each. Valuable for future projects too

Home Depot have that set up. On the hardware section
Wonder if quick-disconnect option is available for monoblocks.
Anyone know?
I've made a video on this before, quick disconnect power here ua-cam.com/video/rBPXltonarc/v-deo.html
@@CarAudioFabrication Thanks! I know AudioControl has for the multis, wasn’t sure abt monos
What if your amp terminal outlet is stripped
I’m having the same problem… idk what can I use to hold the speaker wire in place
Chase the threads and make new threads for the new set screw
Easier just to order a box of various sized set screws. All amps use a metric screw.
I think you missed the part of the video where I talk about how this is beneficial for more than just one thing.
I just steal them from. Work😂😂
🚔🚔🚔 😛
Your fired!
@TexasBig haha yep reminds me of that Johnny Cash song were he carried out enough car parts to built his own🤣
@@TexasBig 😅🤣😂
I'll have to take a listen. Haha!

Well I thought so to…. Until I tried out 3 different assortment kits and none of them fit my kicker amp. So now I’m ordering the thread checker
