I am so glad to have found all of this! Thank you, you are appreciated.
Thank YOU, Katie!
Hey dude I appreciate how this is a honest video and you didn’t try to glorify your day. Good job 🙌🏻🤙🏻
Thank you for your kind words, Maxwell!! Glad you enjoyed it! Happy new year!! 🥳
FINALLY, amirite? 😂
I know, I know! It's a little different style from my usual videos, hope this can be more of a fun one for y'all to get a glimpse :)
omg yay!! i've been waiting for this :D
:DDDD hope you enjoyed!
How lucky to be a mentee with you on practicing mock interviews!!
Nothing more motivating to get into UX than that sweet BRZ :)
:DDD definitely a joy to drive!
Love your content! Hoping to transition into UXR and your content is super helpful! I just wanted to randomly say SHOUT OUT to the motion sickness pills in the background while watching your TED TALK!
Finally not a video about "A day in my life... *with food* .." .. lolzz
Currently studying UX/UI. Finished MS in Electrical Engineering.. left a good paying job and now UI/UX... DANGGGG kinda also scared... this has been motivating :) thnx for sharing.
HAHAHAH I know right? Gratz on graduating and keep us posted on your UX journey! mad love
Love it!!! Started feeling the awkwardness since the first scence LOL (In a good way though! Don't get me wrong) 😝
🙋🏻♀️Another mentee here watching ur video at 11.30pm!
Aayyyeeee Judy!! Thank you!! Yup I tend to make things awkward, then people are forced to get used to it LOL
I will look but can you do a video discussing your relationship and process for working with your Data Scientists?
Love your stuff btw!
Very cool, thanks for showing us a bit of ur life! Those muscle ups, I know you were tryna stunt for the camera XD
🤫🤫 it was all CGI hahaha
Thank you for watching!
Why you stop uploading video
Wow. This was a cool video. Thank you! Currently about to binge your videos. What does the work schedule look like for a UX researcher?
Thanks for watching and for all your comments! :)
Work schedule tends to be typical 9-5 for most companies, one where I rarely needed to burn midnight oil, but there are occasions where I had to do that.
And thank you for replying again and answering my question!😄 Noted!
Loved this!! 😁
Thanks, Sharvari!! ✌️🎉
love this, keep it up :D
I still can't believe you manage to squeeze ALL OF THESE things in. You make everyone else look like a failure haha.
Nooooooo haha hopefully nobody feels that way!
Thanks for speaking for everyone else😉
That’s a good picture ;)
heeey just watched your video. it's so fun and nice :D i'm a psychology student and currently interested in ux research. your video is really helpful man!
Thanks for watching Cristalia!!!! Glad you enjoyed it :))
I think I might enjoy pure UX research quite a bit... I'm just a general UX designer at the moment, but I do find the research phase to be quite satisfying! But I don't know if I would want to let go of the rest... I'll continue on this broader path for a while and we'll see!
you don't wanna design bro
@@tekiero what? what do you know about that?
@@SwedishTourist it's a question
@@tekiero oh. yeah i do want to design, but i like the research phase a lot. we'll see what happens.
@@SwedishTourist won't you get rusty? I have same situation as you.
"Gotta shed some weight first" LOLL!!!! Love the humor
hey Kevin, thank you for the videos. do you think statistician background will help to be UX researcher ? I'm currently in UX bootcamp.
Thank you for all your videos!!
I’m new to the field and want to start working on projects but need to upgrade my laptop. Is there one you recommend using? Im conflicted on whether to go with a Dell XPS or get a MacBook for sketch.
Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Thanks for watching Jocelyn! Hmm interesting, I don't think Sketch actually supports Windows (double check that!), so if you need it for design work, I definitely go with a MacBook. There are alternative design tools like Figma which you can run on any browser for free, though!
If you're looking to do research, it shouldn't matter too much in the end. I just know most designers use MacBooks and if they're sharing files with you, they're going to be MacOS compatible.
nice video, dude. thank you for sharing your experience. also, bay fair! my neck of the woods, haha.
Ha! Say hi if you see me on BART sometime!!
Awesome and really humble at the end of your video :). What does POC stand for?
Thanks 😊!! POC stands for "point of contact" or "person of contact".
Basically the main point person:)
Hi Any suggestion for someone with10 years of work exp in Robotics as a Project Manager or Business Analyst. I find UX and design very interesting and want to pursue a PHD. Any advice?
My questions would be, are you interested in being a UXR or designer? And why a PhD?
If you're still exploring, I suggest starting by networking and asking folks in the field what their day is like and what resonates with you better!
If you go down the PhD route you may spend 4-7 years in your specialized field, with an opportunity to get some internships, but before landing a full time job. I may consider a Master's if you want a job but it depends on what you're looking for.
Instaliked when i saw the subaru :,)
subieganggggg✌!! Thank you for watching!! :D
Nice socks 😂
Keep the good work kevin
👨🚀🔭
Haha thank you!!
I was going to say it's just one day, one data point... And...... Yea Kev said it
What are you doing in the study planning?
Thank you very much for this helpful video. I really want to be a UX researcher and now I'm a master degree in Human-engaged Computing lab.
Good question! I don't remember for this particular video, but likely I am writing out my plan (protocol, script etc...) that I work out of my planning document, which contains the background for the research, objectives, methods, participants, timeline, and protocol.
It's cool you don't drink. Respect....
Totally allergic, and not really a fan of it anyway 😂 🤷♂️
hi kevin! im just wondering.. are you the only ux researcher in your current team?
Hi Theresita! At the time of the recording of this video, I was in the team with 2 other researchers. Then they left and I became just one for a few months :)
Which car do you own?
My beloved Subaru BRZ 🚗
@@zerotoux It’s a really awesome car.
0:55 sorry, Ace, you just gave away the license plate you were trying to hide 5 seconds ago
OMG I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD WHEN I SAW THAT
Omg dude pls I want to know which Taylor swift songs do you listen to
Love her country stuff, I have her "Red" vinyl album on my wall, too!! 😍 what about you?
Kevin Liang bet that makes an awesome decor-same here doing that, but with reputation. She released a new album recently! It’s the same music I listen to since then NGL. It has country songwriting style on some songs, you might want to check that out. But yeah, RED is amazing from State Of Grace to Begin Again! Love that album.
You put ya WHOLE license plate lol
LOL!!! Oh dear, I just blurred it out :D thanks for lookin' out hahaha
How me how your approach people to research please
Whaat I know Ericka from high school!
LOLLL she so popular!! literally received comments from 2 other people who viewed this video also know her!! what upppp!!
@@zerotoux Crazy! Randomly was recommended your video, watched it and was like “Hey! I know her!” Haha Her older brother, Paul, is a good friend of mine. But yea man I’m a new subscriber now looking into UXR. Awesome content!
@@jon_q1904 thank you, Jonathan! lemme know if I can help in any way
Work life balance, a nice day
Finally I found 'zach dempsey'
LOL!!! You too?? I've gotten this several times, maybe I should try Hollywood next 😂jk too awkward for it haha
Hi! I just wanted to know what is the difference between UX Researcher and UX Designer? Thank you!
@EnvisionX envisionX got this down!!
I'll add that UX Design as a discipline includes research, but there is a need to be specialized, as envisionX mentioned :D
Liang I would like to know more about User Experience Research. Is there any needful to be specialised in Human Factors to join as a User Experience Researcher? In fact, I have a PhD degree in Anthropology and I would love to work as a UX Researcher and is there any good book which you can recommend to prepare? Anyway your video is great!
Are UX researchers and UX writers the same thing?
I had anxiety when u ran over ur camera
Hahah I know! When I watched the footage, it was definitely a perspective we're not used to seeing. But luckily , while my car is low, it wasn't that low hahah
Awesome! now I want a review video of the subaru you have there..Blame yourself for posting it..lol
Hahaha ayye well maybe I could do a review of the human factors and ergonomics of the interior design ;) will give me an excuse to do it
@@zerotoux Good idea,everything UX! lol
miss da house !!!!
come visit again! Or I should go to Sydney...
can't wait :D
How much u earn bro u didn't talk bout that

Amazing a day in the life video! I want to do 2 degrees, 1 in Digital Marketing with a focus on Product/UX Design and other one in Psychology. Hope it will so helpful for me to become a UX Designer & Researcher!
That'll be perfect!! Mad love!!🙏😍
@@zerotoux awee thank you so much🔥😘

7CAU180 :D
Fruitless effort to try and hide it 😂
Dude, tf? Not cool. Take it down.
Taylor Swift please next time lol
Hahah hope she doesn't ding me for using her music 🙃!!
It'd be great if it actually showed what the job consists of. It's too vague with no details about why your day is that way, since it varies. Could do without the extra stuff. 🥴
Man are you happy? You seems to have a such monotonous life! :/
Couldn't be happier.
*Proceeds to scoop ice cream out of the tub*
cant believe you don't do arms! ;) haha
I know right, so hard to tell 🤣
Do you get crap from the data analysis team for using data in the singular form? lol jk XD
I actually give people crap but it depends if you're referring to data as the set of data or multiple datum :)
This is when you don't have kids.
Generating wrong expectations for my students. The average day of a typical UX researcher looks pretty different. At least outside the Bay area.
The title says SF/Bay Area (before COVID) and at the end of the video I speak about what typical means. There is no typical day I've realized since being with 7 different companies, small and large teams. So it isn't "wrong" cuz a day isn't representative.
I haven't been part of an agency so that's going to be different as well!
