    This is why I don't collect watches anymore because you just never appreciate the watches you own.
    You always chase after others. Now I have 3 watches one for work two for pleasure and I love them all. Lifes simpler.

      It indeed is. Well, i did put more focus on purchases now. This year I bought just one watch after going back and forth to see what I really want. The watches in my collection so far are all with me since couple of years. Wearing them in rotation and enjoy every one. That works for me and I became also a bit more relaxed 👍🏻

    I have this exact watch. Your first video sold it to me and I am still very happy with it. Yes some days I prefer my sub or Avenger also. I also like my seamaster but I'm getting great wrist time with this and I love how unknown GS still are here in the UK. Maybe the EU are more enlightened. I know they are flying in the US. Thanks for your video!

    Your first video tilted the purchase decision for me. Am still in love with it. Don't think I'll ever let it go. Its a grab and go, no need to set time, and the time is accurate. The super clean pristine dial is just do clean.

    I know the sword hands are a GS signature but it bears a striking resemblance to the hands of a Patek Philippe Calatrava which is a great thing for a fraction of the price. Combine that with the zaratsu polishing, a high quality dark leather strap for versatility, and meticulous attention to detail and you simply have a dress watch winner here. This is the white dial watch I’ve been searching for.

    • @mb-watches
      @mb-watches  3 роки тому +1

      Go for it it’s definitely a beautiful and very elegant piece. Check also out the slightly bigger version, I think you’ll be happy with either of them

    So it's now two years later. Almost. I hope you hung on to it. I just ordered an SBGX261 in black, for next to my SGBA465 kirazuri spring drive, and the more I consider it, the more I feel that most of my watches end up neo-vintage sport (like skin divers), military or dress, and the dress box now contains entries from Nomos, GS, King Seiko limited, Mühle Glashütte, Tourby..... That sort of thing. But the Grand Seiko's are very sticky on the wrist. So the older I get the more I gravitate towards GADA or neo vintage charm.
    That little white piece of yours was awesome, and I would argue that it would be an excellent do-anything holiday, travel and GADA watch. It certainly helped me make up my mind on the 261 in black. :)

      Unfortunately mine is gone, I needed to sell that one with me Carrera as I wanted to get the Cartier santos which is now in my collection.
      That said: I am really into the 465, that dial is a stunner so I am working on a GS comeback into the collection and have exactly that one on my wishlist. Let me know when you get it, please 😊🙏🏻
      Have a great weekend and thanks for coming back to this vid. 👍🏻🙏🏻

    It's interesting that it doesn't click with you because you prefer a sportier watch. I am the opposite and prefer the simplicity and minimalism of the Grand Seiko you have. In fact, I lost my SARB on vacation, or rather, I think an otter or woodchuck took it when I left it on a bench in the yard. So it's a matter of taste, plain and simple. So I am thinking of buying the SBGX263 or the Ole Mathiesen classic, but I don't know about their mesh bracelet. I like the size. 37mm is max for me.

    • @mb-watches
      @mb-watches  4 роки тому

      John Russell Foster you know, the Gs still is with me as I just cannot make me selling it.
      As you said, it’s perfect minimal and it’s design stands for it own.
      A pity your Sarb is going but I like that you thinking about replacing it with a GS: the 263 is gorgeous and it’s a rather big 37mm? Go for it, the mesh in the ole Matthiessen isn’t may cup of tea .

    Since I got into this hobby in early 2020, it took me nearly the entire year to realize that I primarily enjoy tool and field watches. I tried the 1 or 2 watch per category approach, but I never ended up wearing my dress watches. I just want to wear my watches, which leads to scratches and dents. On tool/field watches, that’s part of the charm. On a dress watch, such things bother me much more. I still very much appreciate your Grand Seiko quartz, but like you, I don’t think I would wear it much. Such a great watch, though!

    • @mb-watches
      @mb-watches  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, that’s what happened to me, took me a while to figure that out, and indeed it is a shame, the SBGX259 is a beautiful watch. I still would like to have a try with a SBGA 373 or maybe a higheat gmt. But still think that’s just not my cup of tea or type of watch. Thanks for your comment, appreciate it. Oh and if you have seen a nice and well worn Datejust from the 80´s, believe me, it looks stunning. So some dresswatches can look nice worn out.👍🏻

    Geat Video👍. I remember the Aqua Terra and the Nomos. If you dont wear the watch, you don't need the watch or you don't like it. May-bee GMT, Avenger, Turtle and Speedy is just the right combination for you. Sometimes less stuff is better.
    I'm sorry but you don't have the dress watch style/vibe. Try to find a Rolex Explorer II in white and forget the one watch strategy.
    If you really need to stuck with one brand - one watch, i would recommend to look at a Panerai PAM563 or PAM561. Because the white dials are not very popular, you can find them cheap. The luminor 44 are great watches.

    • @mb-watches
      @mb-watches  4 роки тому

      Thanks for this feedback, Marcus, it sound a bit funny but I think you are right with me not having the vintage vibe .
      The white panerai is interesting but i just don’t like them, If panerai a 111 or 112 with Sandwich dial, but let’s see there is a lot out there. The Ex II never was my cup of tea, I like it but I am afraid it would have the Same end like the Gs...
      I have time and will check out couple of watches, let’s see

      @markusf6964 4 роки тому

      @@mb-watches Your Panerai argument is similar to your IWC Ingeneur argument. It's what you think you like. Look at PAM563 and make your own opinion and not just compare it with your idea of a PAM.

      I did Marcus, I know these pams and lay my hands on the white one too. Not my cup of tea. I am into collecting since 2008, so I know that you need to see these things in the metal

  • @watcheswithabdullah
    @watcheswithabdullah 3 роки тому +1

    I think the idea of having one watch per category is not for everybody. I believe that once you have identified your own personality, you can easily find a watch that matches that personality and style. If you love wearing a watch that's slightly on the sportier side but can easily be worn at a formal setting by you, and you feel confident and comfortable wearing it...then hey...that's your style! Many of those who keep changing or selling watches either don't know what they like or just enjoy experimenting. If you can afford it, I think the option would be to have 2 collection categories...the long-term collection (the watches that definitely suit your style and get a lot of wrist time) and the experimental collection (watches which you get to try out and sell to understand what works and doesn't work for you).

    • @mb-watches
      @mb-watches  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your thoughts, and you are right, this is why I changed slightly my way of collecting. I still like this watch a lot but it wasn’t for me and I sold it due to that. Ticking boxes didn’t work there. Funny think is that I know preparing a review of the Cartier Santos and even though it is as well a sort of dresswatch, well, a pilots watch but to me it looks elegant, I really fell in love with it and It does suit my style.
      I still collect with a long term attempt, the majority of the watches I have is with me since quite a while.
      Have a great Sunday 👍🏻

      @@mb-watches Thank you for your valuable input! I completely agree. Coming back to the GS quartz, it's a grail for me...but I'm wondering if it works when worn in a casual setting (jeans and t-shirt for example), especially when worn with a different strap? Did you try that when you still had it?

    • @ssdc2
      @ssdc2 3 роки тому +1

      I have the same outlook, I want a collection that covers every base. I am currently waiting on the champagne dial SBGX263 which I see as covering the dressy side and even the vintages aesthetic in my collection. I couldn't have watches of all the same type. Interesting idea of having an experimental collection that will rotate, but definitely outside my budget. The sporty watches that can go formal is a great category as the strap can push it more in one direction or the other e.g. I will get a black pigskin for my SBGX to make it feel more vintage

    Anybody who has this Watch... Does it feel too small for ~7.25" to 7.5" Wrists? (My wrist is ~7.25" or so right above my Wrist Bone, where I wear my Watches)
    Really thinking about grabbing a Brand New one with Box/Papers/Tag from a Japanese Watch site (Sakura) for a bit under $2k (All said and done, Shipped from Japan, price according to PayPal when I went to check out), but really want to be sure I don't receive my very first "step" into the Luxury Watch World (and yes I would absolutely consider this a Luxury Watch, Quartz or not 🤷‍♂️)... As well as the World of Grand Seiko... And end up feeling let down.
    I HAVE been saving up for a GS Spring Drive or Hi-Beat (Likely the well known SBGA211, or if I get lucky liquidating a few Sneakers I've kept Deadstock... Possibly the SLGH005), but these much cheaper yet still GREAT Watches in the GS 9F Quartz line-up are seriously tempting me... The finishing on this Watch specifically just looks OUTSTANDING in these Videos...
    This would be my "nearly every-day Watch" if purchased... At the moment, I have a few great sub-$500 Automatic Mechanical Watches...as well as a Tissot PRX (Quartz) as my newest addition which I've loved from the second I received it... None of the Watches I own are any smaller than 39mm (all are either 39 or 40mm, with the PRX obviously fitting larger than any of the others with its long lug-to-lug distance... But the PRX still fits me well).
    I just DO NOT want to spend nearly $2,000 all said and done for a Watch and be disappointed by how small it is when it arrives 😕. Unfortunately I have called around and haven't been able to find a local shop that has one I could try on or possibly purchase from them for a bit more...
    Would love any input on this at all!

      The 9F GS are also available in 39mm, and you could get it for a similar price unfortunately not with the crisp white dial but with a Silber one.
      As an edc watch I actually would Recommend go for the slight bigger version to be honest, the 37mm do work but I myself sometimes felt it would have been nicer a lil bit bigger to be honest.

      Im going to hold off on buying it, at least until I find a local B&M Shop that may have one (or the same Watch in a different Dial color... I'm just in LOVE with the White GS Dials 🤤) I could at least try on... It would help a lot. I know the longer Lug-to-lug should help it wear a bit larger, but I know I would definitely prefer something 39-41mm. Unfortunately I'm pretty set on a White Dial 😕.

      Hi Buddy thanks a lot and I am happy you liked it.🙏🏻👍🏻
      Of course we can chat about selling it, please note though that I am not a business, it’s private, but it was bought by an official GS dealer and comes with its warranty.

      David, believe me, i had both and the SBGX is the better watch. Bracelet quality, movement and finish are on another level

      @@mb-watches ok . I Believe you . It does look like a nice watch . Does it justify the price over the Seiko sarbo35 ? That is all I am thinking.

      Yes, it does but that depends on the personal preferences.
      The Sarb is a great watch I am not arguing about that, and it can be enough.
