I left NYC and move to TN in 2005 because I was living in a one bedroom apartment with my wife and 2 kids and father in law. (bunk beds and sleeper sofa in case you are wondering) The apartment was rent controlled, but every year when we signed a new lease it would always go up by the maximum allowed amount and we were paying nearly $1,380 a month when we left. I loved NYC and leaving friends and family was hard, but I bought a home down here that is 5 time the size and has over an acre of land for $145,000. My mortgage payment (with property taxes and home owners insurance rolled in) is $1,050 a month. Hardly anyone is thriving in NYC. Before the pandemic 3-4% of the population (almost 200,000 people/families) was facing eviction each year. Maybe 10-15% of people are living comfortably, the other ~80% are somewhere between "barely getting by" and "I can afford Starbuck a couple of times a week"
This is straight facts. It’s very hard for most people to even get by here. And buying an apartment? That’s pretty much a pipe dream. Appreciate the insightful comment and thank you for stopping by! Glad you’ve been able to build a more sustainable life in TN
I have literally no aspiration to move to New York and I hate how all the videos about moving is centered around NY. crazy this vid popped up. I hope it goes viral for you ✨
I watched this video then I came down to see how many views it had, mate how are you only at 330 subs with 224 views? This video deserves more attention
It's not really sustainable to live in NYC especially alone if anyone wants to build any type of wealth for later in life. You'll be SCRAPING by. It's a nice city to visit, but man, even with the little traveling around the world I've done there are WAY nicer places to live. But I get why people romanticize NYC. The vibe and pull really is unique. I'm nearing the end of my 20's and just having those realizations about what you really want in life and how to get there. Spending absurd amount of money to live in the city just isn't it. But have to say best of luck to those who attempt it because it you do happen conquer NYC you can pretty much do anything, haha.
Funny, I once followed a youtuber who then happened to move to New York by herself. I followed her because she was cute and lighthearted. Being in New York was a fun change in environment so it makes sense. Cool video with some insight into the trend. Well done, good luck on your way to the top. You got this.
Yep that’s something I should’ve mentioned explicitly: the environment itself is unlike most other places which contributes to the allure. ty for watching!
also who is there audiance? i cant picture myself saying alright gotta sit down relax and watch all her vidoes, is it like lonely single men? or unattractive women? all mixture of everything/everyone?
