Sultry is so appropriate for Avi's voice. He brings great gravitas to everything I have ever heard him sing.
My favorite singer.
He can sing the tenderest of lullaby's and the fiercest warrior song, and everything in between.
And his overtone/polyphonic singing
This is just stunning

Thank you for reacting to Avi Kaplan
A good song to follow up with is I'm Only Getting Started.
YES, another fantastic song! 😍
Tank you for reacting to Avi, there are so many songs to choose from. Avi never disappoints. 7 layers session “All is well” his latest EP Feel alright all 5songs are amazing
Love the Seven Layers Session "All Is Well" ~ strongly second this suggestion!
Oh that's an interesting term for Avi - Sultry, yes I like that. He's my favorite Bass singer; a strong, powerful voice. Avi always sings with such passion & soul. His Lyrics are Always incredible! This is Avi's "Battle Cry" song post PTX. Wow glad you're digging it. So fun watching your reaction, please do more, he has many great songs/videos. 👏😀🔥🔥
You must react to more Avi! He will take you on a special ride! You will notice in the comments people requesting particular versions of songs, that is because Avi loves to "cover" his own music. All is Well is a great example there is the studio version off of his Floating on a Dream album that is a duet with co-writer Joy Williams, then there is the 7 Layers Sessions just Avi and a guitar in an amazing old church in the Netherlands, and finally there is the Live at Sunset Sound version. Each version is different yet perfect! Subscribing for more Avi!
This was the first song Avi released in March 2019, once the contractual restriction against releasing anything placed on him in his separation agreement from PTX expired. All parts, including claps and low bass percussion, are him, with the exception of the addition of organ and tambourine in the bridge. He does all of the vocals in his recordings, only using other musicians' voices in his live concerts. For example, here's Avi with his touring band during his first solo tour in 2019. The San Francisco show was just the second stop on that tour but you'd never know it. You'l see how the keyboardist, Daniel Ellsworth, records and loops his low backing vocal at the start and then plays it during the song. And how enthusiastically my hometown crowd sang along to this song that had just been released 4 months prior. ua-cam.com/video/mVnZXZYQie4/v-deo.html
I came across Avi's solo work in 2021, and I never looked back. His lyrics and vocals penetrate straight into my soul. There is just something very special about Avi Kaplan that is like no other.
I love your enthusiasm and appreciation of Avi's fabulous voice and song! I hope you follow up and continue reacting to Avi! His music is passionate yet a soothing balm to the soul! Cheers!
You can definitely feel the music! I loved you reaction 👍 Avi is an extraordinary singer, musician and songwriter. If you want to continue discovering his music, for a start I'd suggest "Chains", "All is well" for 7Layers Session, from his Live at Sunset Sound "When I'm a fool", "Full moon" live from UA-cam Space, or his newest "Good good love".
All great choices!
I second all these songs.
I had a really hard time telling whether or not you liked this song.😊 I've seen Avi in concert twice. It was amazing. He really encourages audience participation. This song is really powerful when everyone is singing along.
This needs to be the theme song for a game.
Totally subbed for Avi. The man has a road map to my soul. His voice is like melted dark chocolate. He's a trained opera singer and you could hear it in some of his wks with PTX but not so much anymore . Enjoyed the reaction quite a lot.
I loved this reaction video. Very well explained. Thanks. Please react to Avi Kaplan singing "all is well" in 7 layers session. I think you will like of this song and his voice.
YES!!!
This is my favorite Avi song.❤ Love his Bass.😍 The group backing him are amazing.
I really enjoyed your enthusiastic reaction to Avi’s powerful warrior song, thank you so much. Avi humming is almost as good as Avi singing.
A sequel would be his “I’m only getting started” that I think you’ll like.
Subbed for more Avi, he has created many wonderful songs for you to explore.
What a great reaction to this powerful song ~ Thank you!!! Long time Avi fan, new subscriber to you ~ hoping for much more Avi, please! This is in my top 10 favorites, along with his gently beautiful "Avi Kaplan, All Is Well, Seven Layers Session #126 { a man, a guitar, an empty ancient church} " ~ And his jamming " When I'm A Fool, Live at Sunset Sound" ~ These are just the tip of Avi's amazingly versatile talent ~ Enjoy this journey 💚
Love those 2.......who am I kidding everything Avi has done is incredible!
I second that! And add "Without your lovin'" from his newest EP 🙂
Aviii is pure talent ❤❤
Oooh, I didn’t see this when it came out.
I still say this song should be iconic-right up there with We Will Rock You, et al. Makes you want to rise up and fix stuff. (One of the commenters on this said “Don’t listen to this while you put on your makeup-you’ll end up with war paint.” LOL.
Dude, you're great 😀 keep this up
Thank you! I'll keep doing my best! =)
Like a Tribal style of song!
Thank you for your reaction. This song got me through the beginning of the pandemic as I supported my team transitioning to online instruction overnight. I had this on loop.
"Otherside" is the "after battle" song.
I love that you have the knowledge and training to forensically dissect this song but very quickly got sucked into it and responded with your emotions not your mind. Avi has written so many fantastic songs, all different, all powerful. Change on the Rise is a one-off but then they all are! Pick any Avi song - you won't be disappointed. Subscribed for more Avi.
I think it's great to have the ability to scrutinize and analyze music, but I don't believe that music should be experienced through a pragmatic lens, but rather with a quiet mind and an open heart. I do my best to have my reactions reflect that =) thank you for being here! I'd love to listen to more of his music!
He makes the world Alright lol. Love me some Avi!!! Thank you
Excellent analysis and reaction. Avi is brilliant and so talented!
There is a rich tradition in North American folk music. Consider reacting to _The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald_ by Gordon Lightfoot. It takes the folk genre merging it with a historical event culminating in probably the best dirge in the English language. I'd also love to see Avi cover that song.
I don't know if you're aware of this, but Avi was an opera and classical voice major in college - Mount San Antonio College in California, training as a basso profundo. He was actually offered a position as a bass with the Los Angeles Opera when he was recruited into PTX for The Sing Off, staying with them until leaving in 2017 for various reasons, not the least of which was serious burnout from PTX's incessant touring . In 2014, he co-founded the A Cappella Academy with Ben Bram (longtime PTX producer/arranger) and Rob Dietz (composer/arranger) - an annual 10-day intensive vocal music camp for 12 to 18-year-olds from around the world, where they have classes in vocals, performance, theory, and specialties like beatboxing and bass singing (which Avi often teaches, as seen in this Short with his 2023 bass class - ua-cam.com/users/shortsbRcq_8DEZyc ) He also frequently performs on stage with the kids, as in this talent show performance of "Ave Verum Corpus", where he shows us his classical vocal prowess, not to mention the 5 young singers'. ua-cam.com/video/szIvSXqTBvk/v-deo.html
As another example of what A Cappella Academy students are able to achieve in those short 10 days under the guidance of the 3 "ACA Dads" and other teachers, here's the 2019 performance of Avi's original song, "The Seed", with the full Academy Choir under the direction of Rob Dietz (who co-arranged it). Just 10 days overall, and kids under 18, and look what happened... ua-cam.com/video/XZ89BHmRfws/v-deo.html
As for your reaction geez could you show a little emotion......not sure if you liked it or didn't...🤣🤣🤣LOVED your excitement, enjoyment and you insightful analysis cannot wait for the next one!
Ciao Daniel,
Bellissimo pezzo. Fantastiche armonie.
Most people tend to want to go on a Viking raid after listening to this….
It's 2 weeks after my previous comment, and I decided I needed to send you this link. Avi just started his tour about a week ago, and this audience video taken at his May 18, 2024 concert in Atlanta is something you need to hear --- specifically the "Change on the Rise" intro he does leading into one of my favorite songs of his, "Get Down". Drinks on people's tables were visibly shaking because of his basso profundo, from what Heather said. And I've experienced that Avi-effect myself at his concerts. You feel it vibrate deep in your body, head to toe. Do keep listening, but be forewarned that, when he goes to do his profundo for a loop recording, Heather's phone could not handle the depth of his voice, so that part is distorted (when he was with PTX, Avi was known to blow out venue speakers on occasion). ua-cam.com/video/dORvn7dJyQU/v-deo.html
Excellent choice for a reaction! I would love to see you react to Uncanny Valley, which is my favorite on his new EP. :D
