With your jaw open in awe of the powerful notes, you clung to every word. Feeling every individual word, every note. These reactions were genuine and true. Heartfelt. You watched, feeling the anguish of Jesus. Feeling all of his love for us, by his sacrifice. This is one of the most powerful performances Dan has ever given us. He most certainly put every ounce of himself into it.✨🙌🙏

I just went back and watched the clip from the movie. Ted Neeley does a great job (and I am certainly a fan) but I think Dan hit the emotional power button on this one! I, too, found it hard to breathe during this cover. ❤🎶🫶

I have watched this probably 40 times, and it grips me every single time, as if I am watching it for the very first time. I could be wrong because of his super dark vocal timbre on the low notes, but it seems like Dan might have changed the key on this so he could start lower and still go crazy high. What a performance! Ted actually isn’t the OG, though he did the movie and his live performances all over America makes us think so. The original is Ian Gillian, who played the role in England and recorded the original album. His iconic performance of this song is hard to beat but I never make comparisons because everybody who is capable of singing this well brings something fresh and wonderful to it. That said I do have to say Vasc’s timbre (have to be careful with this word-my autocorrect always tries to make it timber-LOL) makes all my blood rush to my head every time I hear him. What a gorgeous voice-and I usually do not like metal. Great reaction!

I love Dan’s cover of this song! It’s such a heartfelt performance that he does. Yes, scripturally it doesn’t read the same as the Bible but it doesn’t do any damage to my beliefs as a Christian (in Utah). In fact, it probably enhances my feelings towards what Jesus Christ suffered for me ( and all of us). It was kind of funny when you said it was getting hot in here and wiped your forehead, I had just thought the same thing as I was feeling a flush of heat going through me. He does an amazing job with this song. The true story however, is that He always knew. He was fully aware. He knew he was the perfect Lamb. If people only believed, they would be amazed. ✝️
I agree with that...He knew BEFORE HE (the WORD) spoke the world into being, what would be happening, down the line. In Genesis 3, you can read about that, in any version of the Bible. The "serpent" was told that though he had bruised the HEEL of mankind (stealing their authority over all the earth), there would come a day, when his own HEAD would be smashed in (re-taking that authority and giving it BACK to mankind). It had to happen, and it DID...ONCE...FOR ALL. However, Jesus (the WORD) DID have emotions to deal with at that point, and when you think through the emotions, they may be a bit "over-stated" by the people who wrote that whole section of the play, BUT...the emotions were put aside, and Jesus did what He had to do. As for the wonderful acting that Dan did, in order to present the song (that he didn't write...I think if he had, it would have been a bit different, because I've seen evidence that he actually believes the same way we are agreeing, here), in a very ANOINTED way. This is why the shivers and other evidence of the actual TRUTH of what would be happening, kick in. Holy Spirit is always telling me how much THEY (the full Trinity) love Dan. Thank you, Lord ✝.

Yes, Seb did a huge disservice to himself and his viewers by comparing Ted in his 60s to Dan in his prime...The very first watch should have been Neeley in the FILM in his prime as well...There's no denying Dan has a powerful voice, but acting-wise he cannot even come close. Also remember, Dan had Ted's original iconic performance to model & riff-off of, Neeley's performance was completely original and unique. There is no comparison at all...
Jeff Fenholt created this role on Broadway (that soundtrack is on UA-cam audio). He was amazing, but really involved in the drug world. He later was radically saved and became one of the greatest evangelists ever in America! He recently passed on and into the arms of his Savior he loved so much. I saw JCS 1972 in cinema when I was 11. I was totally hooked with this Rock opera and the incredible singers and music and I hear and watch it since then every year. Ted Neely was much younger at this time and his performance in this film was incredible. So it is unfair to compare it to Dan's version 5 years ago. I totally agree in Dan's singing it is also incredible. For me, nobody ever came near to Ted Neely 1971 except of Dan, he is on the same level. Perhaps you listen to the version of the film and compare this to Dan. By the way, the music in this film is so worth to listen to...❤

The video you watched of Ted Neeley was when he was older. I truly hope that you watch the whole JC Superstar movie.... just so you can experience it. It is incredible and Ted sounded different when he was younger singing this song. When Dan gets to the age that Ted was in the video you watched, you will be able to see a marked difference in his performance also. I watched an interview with Ted about when he made the video you watched. He said that all the while he was singing, he just kept wondering if he was going to be able to stand up afterwards. lol Age does strange things to us but please, if you get the chance, watch the 1973 JC Superstar film. Why.. because Dan's performance is raw, his voice is perfect and we all can see he believes what he is performing. I only wish there was a way, we his fans, could help him more. I've seen a lot of comments translated into English after a non-English person writes them out, and very often the gender gets mis-translated (it depends on what translator you are using). I always loved Ted Neely’s version, but every time I watch Dan’s version, I cry. So insanely powerful and emotional.
Loved your reaction to this...I've seen lots of versions, including live....this hast to be the best. I'm in no way religious, but you can feel the emotions Dan creates.
When Dan gets in front of a camera performing his charisma turns on and pulls you in. He is absolutely captivating because he becomes who he is portraying. With that and his mesmerizing voice no one can come close to him.

Dan is unbelievable performing this. I have listened and watched him sing this numerous times and each time I feel the emotion of his performance. He moves me to tears and I pray for all my sins to be forgiven. He portrays Jesus speaking to God before his crucification in a truly believable way. Dan is DANTASTIC!! I saw him in a stage production at the end of his JCS career. I could hear how damaged his vocal cords were and it made me sad. He will always be number one for me though.❤️
Yes, Seb did a huge disservice to himself and his viewers by comparing Ted in his 60s to Dan in his prime...The very first watch should have been Neeley in the FILM in his prime as well...There's no denying Dan has a powerful voice, but acting-wise he cannot even come close. Also remember, Dan had Ted's original iconic performance to model & riff-off of, Neeley's performance was completely original and unique. There is no comparison at all...
Jeff Fenholt created this role on Broadway (that soundtrack is on UA-cam audio). He was amazing, but really involved in the drug world. He later was radically saved and became one of the greatest evangelists ever in America! He recently passed on and into the arms of his Savior he loved so much. Heaven's Choir gained an amazing voice that day! ❤

I saw JCS 1972 in cinema when I was 11. I was totally hooked with this Rock opera and the incredible singers and music and I hear and watch it since then every year. Ted Neely was much younger at this time and his performance in this film was incredible. So it is unfair to compare it to Dan's version 5 years ago. I totally agree in Dan's singing it is also incredible. For me, nobody ever came near to Ted Neely 1971 except of Dan, he is on the same level. Perhaps you listen to the version of the film and compare this to Dan. By the way, the music in this film is so worth to listen to...❤

The video you watched of Ted Neeley was when he was older. I truly hope that you watch the whole JC Superstar movie.... just so you can experience it. It is incredible and Ted sounded different when he was younger singing this song. When Dan gets to the age that Ted was in the video you watched, you will be able to see a marked difference in his performance also. I watched an interview with Ted about when he made the video you watched. He said that all the while he was singing, he just kept wondering if he was going to be able to stand up afterwards. lol Age does strange things to us but please, if you get the chance, watch the 1973 JC Superstar film. Thank you Sebs, i love most of his performances, O Holy Night is usually my go to except I keep coming back to Gethsemane each day. Why.. because Dan's performance is raw, his voice is perfect and we all can see he believes what he is performing. I only wish there was a way, we his fans, could help him more. I would contribute to a fund to help raise funds for him to come to North America for a performance or is there an on-line pay-per view that someone could arrange for him? Once again thank you for reacting to this beautiful performance. I knew you would like it.

I've seen a lot of comments translated into English after a non-English person writes them out, and very often the gender gets mis-translated (it depends on what translator you are using). If the original writer doesn't actually KNOW English, that person won't catch the error. I may be wrong about that, but that's what I think.
I DO know that this user definitely knows that DAN is not a female. We see each other commenting on Dan things, ALL the time. 😀

Always surprised by Dan with all of his bag of musical tricks, but THIS was so stunning. By the way, it would not bother me if you had let the whole thing play all the way through, and afterward give your critique. I feel that way about most religious material as a general rule, as well as our National Anthem. I was raised during the era where we were taught respect and manners from the time we were born. Certain things were just not acceptable so that is how I will always feel. Dan gave the whole world a Happy Easter with this video. 😌🙏💙
