- Hey Gang, I'm making more progress on the Mach 1 Cobra Jet. I Wanted to start fitting the doors and fenders together. I have several to choose from and I thought it would be interesting to share some of the differences between NPD, Dynacorn, and original. Lots of measuring and test fitting. Good things are coming.

You, by your experience level, have the eyes of an eagle and see many things most of us would fly by.
It makes it difficult for me to enjoy car shows….
Usually, manufacturers make an original stamp and stamps like 50k after the stamp is sold and after market can stamp another 100k with them great video thanks
Skill on display. Jo Daddy = Cool
I ordered a set of doors from CJ Pony for my 68. They sent me a Dynacorn and a Scott Drake. The Dynacorn interior stamping texture was much deeper and the exterior was a better stamping. Needless to say, I returned the Scott Drake door. Overall, very little massaging to get the Dynacorn to fit. Thanks for the video!
Looking good Mr Daddy
The dynacorn door looks to be the better fit if anyone can make it fit you're the one thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍
Many people would rather be entertained than educated. Ive commented before your videos helped me with my 67 Mercury Cougar. Thank you for educating your viewers.
Great educational vid.
The difference between being stamped when the stamp is new and after a million doors have been stamped
Excellent!
This is why I fix the original parts. Never has good luck with repro sheet metal.
I'm looking at the top also and the body line is not defined enough. Having said that it would be very easy to establish that (dip recess) and lower the top where it meets the a pillar! Great video!
I was surprised in the difference in the NPD and Dynacore doors. I didn’t know the 69 and 70 doors were almost identical. Thanks for the video.
great video difference between doors is unreal
I paid 900.00 dollars for my wife's "NEW" 1986 factory produced door shell back in 1991. the original door basically turned to dust. The new door never fit correctly either, massive reworking was required to make it look an function as it should, but, it was a door.. lol. So when I was contemplating replacing the hatch I made a new lower inner hatch frame and leaded the outer, came out perfect, with only one slight problem, I had to replace the strut rods with heavier duty strength to hold the hatch open. I am a 46 year veteran of doing body and frame repairs, I know what you're going through, especially when insurance companies would write newer cars up with after market fenders and doors and would not pay extra to make them fit. So we started shipping them out with no reworking at all, they looked like crap (even painted). The customer complaints were horrendous, we told them to take it up with their ins. company, things got taken care of very fast.
Another excellent video❤❤❤
Good show as always thanks for the education.
This video will help me tune my dynacorn doors in. The info is much appreciated. I just started today trying to figure out why my cowl is 3/4" low. Probably will have to remove and replace. I hope your side scoops and rear valance fits better than mine. Hoping you cover that too. I would've been preping for paint if my cowl was right, like you say test fit. Thanks so much.
Rear valance is really nice. Haven’t checked the side vents yet.
Nice comparison of the doors, it always seems to be a big challenge on the aftermarket parts! I’m confident that you will make the Dynacorn door fit. 👍👍👍
Just the differences in the face are enough to inspire me to find rust free oem
One possibility for dating the replacement doors is to look at the flaps of the boxes they came in. Oftentimes box shops stamp dates on their boxes for QC issues.
Wow!! Two aftermarket doors to choose from. I’ve been a third generation falcon guy forever. Aftermarket doors are unavailable. Slicing and dicing is the only option. Can’t tell you how many lower door corners I’ve had to fabricate. A slight modification problem would be a blessing. Keep up the great work.
Nice look at these doors, thanks Barry. Amazing differences.
in my experience, which is not nearly what yours is, I would recommend the national parts depot door. They seem to have the best in industry when it comes to backing their products. Rick Schmidt from national parts depot does an excellent job at online forums explaining the different suppliers and the different levels of quality one is likely to get depending on which supplier you choose. He is a wealth of knowledge. It's nice of him to always chime in on the forums. you are a true craftsman when it comes to metal working.
always the best analysis
Always learning and great info. Thanks
Great comparison between factory OEM., NPD(made in Taiwan) and DYNACORN (made in ?) .
The Dynacorn also had a made in Taiwan sticker…
love the new music, you are right about the aftermarket doors. to this day I regret not fixing the original drivers door as I used a aftermarket door from CJ and it needed massaging, metal was lighter with less bracing and of course had issues with the door seal. I agree the dynacorn is the closest. Great video as always.
That music clip is something I created. I will probably use it often and I may create more. Thanks for the comment.
@@JoDaddysGarage please do, it is very good
@@68mustangrestoration34 I also loved the music, you better hurry up and copyright it.
Great content 👍
Thank you so much Barry for putting out these videos they're very very helpful for those of us that are currently restoring our Mustangs. What supplier do you buy your Dynacorn panels from?
I have a few Dynacorn dealers I use.
need to use 1970 glass over the glue in 1969
The doors on my 69 coupe are a little rough, thought about replacing them, but exchange rates are making them too expensive in Canada. Will try and re-skin 'em and patch whatever else they need. I'll try and find Dynacorn, but has anyone ever use OER parts?
3640Y is a Muscle Car GT part number. They may make the doors for Dynacorn.
Or, vise-versa?
doing a 66 mustang. NPD junk CJ pony junk quarters. Had to rework un believable area's
Its a shame after all that work for making a door , the lack of detail is missing. How much more would it cost to have these details on the door ??
with all the practice you're getting on slather, when you start working on your mock one, it will be like a piece of cake. You will have all of the idiosyncrasies worked out. what's going on with the engine for slither? Will it be going back to the original 428 corporate yet? I think you had mentioned Charles said he still had it. That makes the most economical sense to keep a Numbers matching car. have you considered a driveline for your Mark one? I think it would be nice to build a tribute to the car your dad used to have. due to physical disability, I am limited with regard to what I can do on these type of cars. I wish your head your ability and your life. I think I would be much happier.
We are considering rebuilding the original 428 for the CJ. Not me, but someone. I’m either keeping the original 351 Windsor, or building a stroker engine for my car.
do the door skins have the indent for the handle maybe all made in Taiwan???
For the exterior handle? No.
From my own project experience in considering an old car, if I knew it would have to use aftermarket doors I would take a pass on the car. I think the reproduction doors are that bad,
Great work and great videos!!! Would you consider a 68 Fairlane formal roof project?
Possibly?
If you wish I can send you some pictures of the car and we see if it is something you would consider.

Come on every one give a 👍🏽
Love the videos. I’m going to be replacing full quarter panels on my 65 Mustang coupe. Can you recommend the best fitting aftermarket panel?
On a 65 it’s hit and miss. I used ones years ago from mustangs unlimited. They were standard pieces from China. Fit decent though. Not sure what’s available now.
Super worn out dies.
Wait you originally went viral because you fixed a door that was just as bad.
Not sure that one went viral, but I do try to keep the original if possible. I may fix the ones for my Mach 1. I would like to see if I can get the Dynacorn to fit with some slight modification. His original doors are toast.
Good video, It probably makes me more likely to repair rather than replace, I squirrelled away donor doors long ago to get back to original,. And as always the content is an inspiration to get back to my 70 Grabber Blue FB.
