What we’ve all been waiting for
Yes haha!
Yes
For real, I was looking for this just yesterday
Place looks like a dump
@@anthonymclaughlin608 that's why it's called the old course......it's not supposed to look like Augusta.
Can't believe I'm going to be playing this course in less than 2 weeks with my Dad....bucket list moment
How was it?
I’m hoping go next year, how was it ?
@@EmbeddedGolfIt’s four hours of literally walking on clouds.
There's something fantastic about this series. We've all seen course flyovers before, but these are captivating pieces of content that I immediately have to watch when I see them posted. Keep it up.
Absolutely cannot wait. These nine days to go will feel like the seven years before them!
Just tore it up out there for you. Follow my divots
Awesome video of the Old Course!!! Quite captivating, intriguing and highly informative.
Golf is a beautiful game!!! Can be really tough and exhausting too!!!
I love the game of golf!!!👌
Golf Digest knocks it out of the park with the course breakdowns. Great commentary/facts/history and flyovers!
During a time of historical change, it is refreshing to have The Old Course as a reminder of History and Tradition!
I just go to a ghost town in the American west.
fantastic! what a great preview for anyone that has not walked or played this course. timely. perfect. Thank you!
Looking forward to visiting ✈️ next week. Amazing ⛳️🏌🏾♂️
Great video! Thanx for the insight and intrigue of one of golf’s oldest courses. Can’t wait for The Open to begin later this week!
very very excited, all the other majors this year have felt like a warm up to this. a little worried that if the weather is good the scores may be very low
I think if the weather is good tiger could actually win
@@andrewstewart6261 you can't write the guy off. It's tiger.
I always love Ron's voice
I will be there Friday and Sunday. Can’t wait.
I made a 6 on the 17th hole but only remember my drive that almost took a cocktail out a a person on an upper floor balcony. My drive turned out to be perfect - dead center of the fairway but the road by the green took its toll on me. A truly great course that is so much fun to play, if you have the right attitude.
I absolutely love this series. Please keep them coming. Would love to see Shinnecock or Caloosa Pines.
Just watched this as I'm playing here tomorrow, can't wait!
Thanks I only bet 4 times a year. On the majors and these vids are nice to watch beforehand .
Awesome!! One of the best ones yet!!
Amazing course that has stood the test of time.
I can't wait to here here and watch The Open.😍
Fantastic production.
Having visited St. Andrew's in 1995 and been able to walk 1-2-3 then 16-17-18 back then it always strikes me that no one ever mentions the wind. It is a consistent 15-20 mph. That has to be recognized as a factor. That being said, I am a hack golfer, and when I stood on the 17th tee the first thing I thought was "no effing way" I could hit that tee shot. A great memory! I even have a picture of me on the bridge on 17 than Arnold Palmer made famous later that year!
thanks for sharing, Matt. i did the same but a mere fourteen days ago at St. Andrews! and under similar conditions! i concur that this is no more than an easy municipal golf course under benign conditions. however with a gusty wind, it can be quit beastly! crack on mate!
The game of Kings, and the King of games, the King of courses, and the course of Kings. TOC is the fairest of them all!
Beautiful job...
Best short video on the old course. Only issue I have was on the 15th green the ‘Cartgate’ bunker is on the front of 3 not 4.
That scares the crap out of me!
Was waiting for this video!
Awesome!
Faldo will be absolutely fuming he didn't get a mention at 14:12
I agree! Faldo should’ve been mentioned, yet still a wonderful video!
Great summary Ron
Going for the first time next Thursday I am beyond gassed
Can’t wait for the 150th open…. ! I’ve never played it but hopefully someday.
You'd be underwhelmed by the course.
As someone who has caddied at the Old Course for 15 years, I couldn't have said it better myself. Although I have no idea what a mogul is.
I thought it was a skiing/snowboarding term!!!
Lucky you…. I’ve been a caddie in my younger days in Co Kerry on west coast of Ireland and I’m guessing a good set of waterproofs at St Andrews are quite essential as well 😀. I hope to play there someday. It’s on the list…. Like everyone else! Enjoy the 150th. Can’t wait to watch it!
It's a non-magic person, isn't it...? 🙃
In all seriousness they're bumps of snow on a piste. I'm guessing he's referring to the undulations on the fairways.
What was is like walking on that piece of earth?
@@PinkStarburst717 Like being a time traveller and completely mindful simultaneously.
This is my dream course to play on just once regardless if I'm bad or not just to play here
👀17 green. cannot wait!!
I hope the conditions are calm. Let -32 win The Open 🏆
The historic grand slam:
A PGA championship at southern hills
A US Open at Pebble Beach
A Masters at Augusta National
But the crown jewel will always be an Open Championship at St. Andrews
None of those compare to saint andrews, don’t disrespect it
So. Hills? Not so much.
Personally, Oak Hill or Oakmont should be the PGA comparison on your list, but golf is beautiful, subjective, and unique
The Old Course is the Indianapolis of golf courses - the oldest, most famous and most steeped in tradition and mysteries. There's nowhere like it.
I shot a 63 on this course in 2004. That is EA Tiger Woods Golf 2004 on gamecube.
Wait leaving out the name of the holes was whose idea?
Correction: @11:29 The Cartgate bunker fronts the THIRD/15th green, not the 4th.
Whoever wins here next week will have to be a strategic genius…( brains not brawn)
It’s so so quirky that’s why we all adore the Old Course.
Golf in the Kingdom.
🏌♀️⛳
Gave that book to a great friend! He's been playing better ever since. Seattle is a long way to St. Andrew's, but I'll get there someday. Cam Smith, or Louie I'm betting. Smile at the ball when you're standing over. Works most of the time!...
Back to where it all began.
I'd give my right arm to play that course just once in my lifetime. Well, maybe my left arm.
Wind needs to blow here but not too much like last time when they had to finish on Monday. -18 will be the winning score.
12 green is insane.
This was amazing and gave me goosebumps knowing I’ll winning a tournament here one day on this legendary historic course
Not with that profile pic
@@tragicnutsaxk literally. 😂
I would shoot a 250 on this course 😂
It's official they need to make this course into a landmark. If the champion can just win by only one aspect of the game then why not just build a miniature golf course and save space
pitch and putt course
Some day.
Optimus Prime narration vibes
These vids would be better if they pointed out the exact areas they are talking about, esp when It comes to specific landing areas. Otherwise, great videos!
aways like watching the British open
The Open*
*nods and goes off for a pint and fish & chips*
The comments about ‘low score worries’ shouldn’t be a worry. If a golfer is good he will do well. May the best golfer win regardless of the score.
Don't all these holes have names?
Yeah, "Louie," "Harvey," and "Blart." Me? I personally would name one of these holes (the 14th?) "Mickey Ratt." Sounds swanky, don't it?
And i was worried about inflation for food products in Florida.
I do doubt that local members don’t know everything about the course
You don't mention that the double greens holes add up to 18, i.e., 2 and 16, 3 and 15 etc. Kinda cool.
Ya he does
Dressing with marble keep carts in rough ways employees only allowed on greens when attempting golf
Hi hi
Moguls and gulchs???😂 I think you’ll find they are humps and hollows. Great video but needs a Scottish narrator ffs
Pros will eat this course alive.
Playing golf is supposed to be a pleasant experience. St Andrews is a horror show. A great golf course? Only for someone who craves agony.
I have played St Andrews. It is the most over rated course. If it was not the first golf course it would not be on anyones radar. And no way they should have a professional tournament there. The setting and the history part of it is awesome but I would not go back and play again. So many better courses in Scotland......not sure why no one will admit this?
I am too used to American style courses. I don't like this course at all. The FWs have too much undulations.
You'd rather hit to flat fairways? Sounds a little boring if you ask me.
Outdated course that is too easy and doesn't create drama.
Greens are too big, fairways too wide.
Tell that to all the golfers who have crumbled at the 16th and 17th when the pressure is on
@@johnavery3941 Like who? The Old Course produces the least dramaof any Open course
You are of course entitled to your opinion but i will never understand such comments, the oldest 18 holes in the world will of course be outdated! but that link to ground zero is what's special. It has progressed and remains a challenge, to say it provides no drama is an absolute untruth, but it's important that we retain this piece of heritage.
@@lawrencel100 The first Open was held at Prestwick, it's been held at Musselburghb and it's been held at Royal Cinque Ports, so if they all have history, why isn't it played there any more?
The history of a town doesn't make it a good venue. Goodison is an old stadium with history, but you wouldn't hold the Champions League final there .
It is by far the weakest course on The Open rota, if not of all the majors. There are far too many easy holes, the fairways too wide, most bunkers not in play and the greens are too easy to hit. The closing stretch is poor and the course simply isn't capable of the drama one gets at Muirfield, Carnoustie, Troon or Portrush.
@@sandersson2813 and yet every course you just mentioned doesn't have the design and architecture heritage of the Old Course, which is the premise of my point. Using Goodison to reinforce your point is a false equivalency, unless it was the first football pitch by which all others take their design cues?
