Hi. I am Joe. I live in Houston. I could very likely camp in a Hurricane. BWAHAHAHAHHAHA. When the time comes, they will be my first call. What they did for the guy that won the raffle from Rendezvous, did not go unnoticed. now this.. thanks Matt!
It’s not as good as the 23Zero because it’s thinner. No hard shell tent is going to have as good a mattress as a soft shell. It’s one of the trade offs. But that doesn’t mean it’s not comfortable. It’s just not as comfortable.
Great video walkthrough of the Global Road RTT. I have spoken with James a few times and he has been very helpful. Now all I have to do is get shipped to Las Vegas and get some help with the install. I am also wondering about keeping the RTT on my car full-time, as I will be unable to install/uninstall on a whim. Any thoughts about keeping in on your car full-time? Thanks!!!
Great comprehensive RTT review, and nice looking Trailhawk. I have a quick question that is not about your RTT, what size tires are you running and do they rub at all? It is a very nice look. Thank you.
right now just the factory ones to hold it on for looks. LOL. We can't actually use it because both Chief and Off Road Animal Roof racks are backordered until the end of the month.
At the time this video was made we had it on the factory roof rack which isn’t rated for an RTT. Look ahead to the video where we installed the Chief Products Roof Rack. I show installing the tent in that one.
I'm cosidering pulling the trigger on one of these... Do you know what the actual static roof weight limit is? Not the rack, but the actual roof... that's what I'd be worried about. Sweet looking setup, though!
They say the way this spreads the load on the roof it can support over 800 lbs on the roof. So far we haven't had any issues and can verify it's a noticeable difference over the factory rack.
We never actually used the tent with the factory roof rack. There is another video of us installing the Chief Products roof rack and it has been fantastic!! Highly recommend.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures that’s what I was thinking. From what I was seeing standard racks max at 165. Been looking at chief’s Thanks for the quick reply!
@@kennykrowel3980 so you think that with stock cross bars two adults can stay in the tent? Or is that too heavy for the cross bars? My tent weighs just over 100lbs?
@@janario18 you should be good with plenty of wiggle room for extra weight. I have the 165 lb load limit cross bars and I’ve seen a lot of other people on the forums with their RTTs mounted just fine.
Their website shows the price of this unit as $1800 as of 11/14/20. Nice unit, I really like it for a hard shell. Best way to get on the website is through Facebook.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Thank you. I'm in talks with the company, which by the way are AWESOME to talk to, and I'm about to pull the trigger on one because of your video. 2019 GC trailhawk too.
You just lost about 5+ MPG, made your Jeep top heavy, and now can't leave your tent at your camp spot to secure it while you day trip, have to climb down a ladder to pee, and spent $1800 to sleep in a tent, smart move.
Good thing I also have a hammock and a trailer with an RTT on top of it as other options. 😂 We know what we are doing and the pros and cons of each setup. But thanks for your opinion.

😂😂😂 James is the great guy!!!
That was a QUICK setup. I think this might be on my wish list, as usual very helpful content and great video skills.
Thanks!!!!
I like the setup! That will be a comfortable option for scenic drives
We are excited about it!
Nice setup. Just got my Navigator II. James is a great guy to work with.
Yes he is!!
My daughter MK really loves hers...I was very impressed with the quality for the price. Good job on the video.
Thanks Bro!!
I love your videos! Nice RTT !
Thanks!!
Yes sir I love our state Arkansas and I just bought my Jeep what tires you have on yours
Have you guys tried folding it up with bedding inside?
Not yet. Just ordered the bedding Cara wants today. I think it will fold up fine.
I love this grand Cherokee!!
We are too! Thanks!
I like it and the cover style better than the Alpha II. Great price!!
Me too.
They're out of stock but I will definitely order once they restock. Thank you sir for this helpful video.
They have the new Gen 2 version coming in at the end of May/first of June.
Is that tent attached to your side roof rails or crossbars?
It was attached to the crossbars in this video but we couldn’t use it until we upgraded to the Chief Products roof rack.
I'd be interested to hear how the mattress in this tent compares with the one in your 23 Zero.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Thank you for the quick response.
What kind of roof crossbars are you using?
Could you stuff the awning inside leaving it zipped on and close it up?
Good question. I need to see if that will work. I'll let you know.
What kinda roof rack did you use?

We keep it on ours full time. No issues and only a minor drop in MPG. Installing it is super easy too.
Scratch that, I just should have read all the comments, you answer the tire question, thanks.
Good deal! Let me know if you have other questions.
Great comprehensive RTT review, and nice looking Trailhawk. I have a quick question that is not about your RTT, what size tires are you running and do they rub at all? It is a very nice look. Thank you.
Thanks!! Glad you found the tire answer. I have another video on the Trailhawk called "We say goodbye to Imogene" that talks more about the tires.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Cool, I will check it out, thanks again.
Is all the weight of the extended side supported just by the ladder? What kind of hinge is in the middle?
Yes it's supported by the ladder. That's how all fold out RTTs work. Not sure on the type of hinge but it works really well with no issues.
Which roof rails and crossbars are you using? We just got a 2020 WK2 Trailhawk this week.
right now just the factory ones to hold it on for looks. LOL. We can't actually use it because both Chief and Off Road Animal Roof racks are backordered until the end of the month.
Great setup! Curious what tire size you are running on your Trailhawk?
we went with 265/65 R18. Slightly bigger than the factory size and wont rub. Also added 1.5" spacers to widen the stance a bit.
Unveiling video? I'm not finding it...
I just ordered a Trailhawk and am doing all the things
Could you show how you installed the tent on your roof
At the time this video was made we had it on the factory roof rack which isn’t rated for an RTT. Look ahead to the video where we installed the Chief Products Roof Rack. I show installing the tent in that one.
Do they still sell them

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Wow, that's considerable. That should seal it for me. Thanks, bud! Appreciate it!
Hi, what is the underlying rack that you used. Are you at all concerned about weight limits for the roof?
We never actually used the tent with the factory roof rack. There is another video of us installing the Chief Products roof rack and it has been fantastic!! Highly recommend.
Do you find that standard roof rails will be sufficient? I keep seeing differing info on weight limits. And I want to get one for my 2014 overland
They are definitely not sufficient. Aftermarket racks from Chief or Off Road Animal are what you need.

@@jeffthatcherphotography keep in mind that the stated 165 lb load limit is for dynamic load limit, not static. Static I believe is 800 lbs

Yes it did.
Are those the stock cross bars?
How has that held up the last couple years on the factory roof rails?
We never used it on the factory rails. We got the roof rack from Chief Products right after I made this video.
Their website shows the price of this unit as $1800 as of 11/14/20. Nice unit, I really like it for a hard shell. Best way to get on the website is through Facebook.
Yeah I may have got the price confused with the Navigator series.
Like the tent ⛺️👍🏼. No link to it?
Good catch. Thought I added that. It’s in the description now.
So my tent weighs just over 100lb and I was gonna use stock cross bars do you think two adults can stay in the tent with stock cross bars? Thanks
Negative. The factory roof rack can barely support 125 lbs total.
What crossbars did you use
We never slept in it until we got the Chief Products roof rack. The factory rack can’t hold the weight with people up there.
Does this tent sleep 2 average size adults comfortably?
Yes. It's a full size bed. Check out my new video on the newer model.
What kind of tires are those?
Falken Wildpeak AT3
Can u we link to the product
No because this is an old video and they are no longer in business.
@OzarkOverlandAdventures ohhhh thank u. Any other product u wanna mention. I can look over that??
What’s the price point? Desert Armor is $2700 and iKamper is $3700
This one is 1800. The Gen 2 version of this is around 2400 I think. We just got it and will have a video on it very soon.
Where can I buy this model
