I’m writing this comment on October 6th, 2023, from Thessaloniki, Greece; after I returned from a month’s off-roading trip ( except six days of round trip going to and coming back to Atlanta, GA) out West, in CO, UT, and AZ, what Brad very appropriately has named The Western Loop! To revisit past videos of previously unknown, but now known, lands and trails of Prodigal Overland’s, like Schnebly Hill, Chicken point, Broken Arrow and Devil’s Stair trail, etc is an awesome feeling! I thank Brad and all the awesome guys and one lady who participated in this epic adventure for the assistance given me when I needed it! At my 75 years I look forward to many, many more similar exciting, thrilling, challenging and, above all bonding adventures! JGCs rule!
I'm so happy to see a brother out there doing it! I'm a black man that loves off roading and Seeing this makes me want to do overlanding even more. I was just scared of the overlanding community not excepting the Afro America's in there community. I've owned 5 jeeps, 2 range rovers and a Toyota Tacoma. Your UA-cam channel is now my favorite off road channel. I thank you for being open minded and Remember me! I'm coming to the woods real soon
Sounds great! we would love to meet up sometime, not sure where you are located but keep an eye out on our website for upcoming events. prodigaloverland.com/events
I have a Gladiator Rubicon but I thoroughly enjoy seeing Grand Cherokees tackle trails. I can only imagine the ride quality to and from off-road destinations!
@@ProdigalOverland I love it. It’s lifted on 37s, and works great for what I need it for (I don’t rock crawl) so having the bed and bed rack is a big plus for me. But I’m always envious of SUVs and their better comfort for long trips.
Breath taking views! Spectacular offroading shots. My wk2 is in the shop with a rear carrier bearing that needs replacing (they're out of stock everywhere). So I have to live vicariously through you. Well done!
I just discovered your channel and I enjoyed your video very much! I am wondering where in Michigan you may have also ventured into with your WK2? I have owned since new a 2015 Jeep GC (WK2) Overland Ecodiesel w/ Off-Road Adventure II ("Quadra-Drive"), and Quadralift suspension. I have have added 32" Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs (my 3rd set -- 2 prior sets were on my old Chevy Tahoe 4x4, that I completely wore out, leading to the purchase of my WK2 Jeep), Mopar Rocksliders, Chief Lower Front Guard, Sump Protection Plate and Auto Trans Protection Plate, plus a (modified) aluminum "Shield" DEF Line Protection Plate. I use Yakima Roof Rack bars for my 17' Canoe, and I carry various recovery gear (4 traction boards, shovel, collapsible hand saw, hi-lift jack, come-along, several different recovery straps, tow chain (for pulling logs), Dewalt electric chain saw, Stihl gas chain saw, hard and soft shackles, etc.). I use all this stuff at my Cabin on a river in northern Michigan, where I do a fair amount of deep woods hunting, which includes traversing beaver dams and ponds (via canoe), and other gnarly stuff where we get frequent blow downs over what pass for "trails". My next mods will likely be the Chief winch plate, Chief Recovery Points (necessary to replace the OEM tow hooks, as you pointed out), and a winch (probably a Warn Zeon 10S). My 8-year old granddaughter loves going off-road with me! Plus, the little WK2 is fantastic on the highway (takes me about 2-1/2 hours to drive up north to my Cabin). I'll look for your other/next videos! Have fun!!
We have been to silver lake sand dunes, Manistee national forest, and a few trails in the UP. We are hoping to get to Drummond Island sometime this year.
Calob the “fighter” drone pilot put this one over the top! Super job buddy. Just makes me smile. And “Karen”, my great friend is always welcome to bend my ear. Gonna miss you guys much. For now... See ya soon!
Loved the video. I get the same popping noise in my front end also. Especially when the air ride is on the highest setting. Lots of pops wile on real bumpy terrain.
Another great video... I love how easy the TRAILHAWK makes things look. Going up rocks/obstacles that not long ago people never would've attempted in a basically stock unit. Wanted to ask... have you ever done a side by side comparison of your ride height next to a non trailhawk version both set to ORII... is there actually a noticeable difference. Also did you replace your original plastic transmission pan with the aluminum one for off roading... or is it protected by your skid plates anyway?
My understanding is that the quadralift system goes to the same height regardless of the trim level. I had an overland before the trailhawk and it certainly seems the same. We have replaced the plastic transmission piece with a steel plate from Chief Products.
@@ProdigalOverland ok... I thought I had read somewhere that the trailhawk gets an extra inch. Is the chief product your referring to a gaurd or the actual transmission pan itself?
@@ProdigalOverland nice... well if your ever thinking about doing a transmission service some just let me know about a replacement pan for $30.. I thought at first that it would be junk but apparently it's identical to the dorman one on rock auto for $170. So sick running into you on Schnebly Hill in Sedona! Great video man, once I get my overland built up a tad more I’d love to join in on those adventures! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Great video again! I am so envious! Brad and family, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep up the modern gypsy nomadic life...oh, the stories you will have for your grandchildren... BTW, I have grown to love the ferruginous soils of Arizona from when I lived there...I miss the entire State!
Prodigal Overland you are welcome. BTW, I like your choice of music for the video! The build up crescendo and your soft "over voice" in the introduction is excellent...the skills of the editor are improving greatly! Kudos
If you were to measure from the ground to the bottom of the body or rock slider right in line with the “B” pilar how many inches of clearance do you have ? And you have 31” tires right ?
Hi, Cool content. My wife is eyeballing a 2021 TrailHawk Grand Cherokee with a V6. I am an avid off roader with another brand, but I'm wondering about the kind of miles you put on yours, the gas mileage of your v8, and if there is any transmission and differential trouble that you have had. I won't be able to work on that electronic torque vectoring axles and stuff. Do you think it will have a long life expectancy over 150,000 miles? We take care of our stuff, but we want to travel worry free. Thanks Friend
We haven’t had any issues with the mechanics of our Jeep. We have 77,000 on it. Do regular maintenance on ours. But we do beat it up a bit off road. We get around 17 mixed mpg.
Rick in the white Jeep uses it frequently. I have on occasion but prefer to be in control. It’s a reactive system and can anticipate like us humans can.
You said you ran this on Saturday? As in 12/19/2020? How was the mud on the trails? I wanted to run this trail this upcoming weekended but i saw a video recently that it was pretty ugly. Great video as usual.
Ours has been reliable for us. I think if you take good care of them they will do ok for you. But I also don't know that the Jeep brand is synonymous with reliability. I also don't know of another brand that gets beat up on the trail like jeep do.
That was another great video Brad. Thank you to your trail friends also, I enjoy the assortment of WK2's. My wife and I really enjoy your videos. As you may remember we traded our 2018 JLU Rubicon for a 2020 GC Trailhawk back in March of this year. We are in Ontario Canada maybe someday we will meet. We also have a 2003 TJ Rubicon. Keep safe and we look forward to your next adventure.
No effense. I love your content. But your wife is kind of annoying with telling everyone to stop, back away and constantly freaking out when the Jeep's tipping. It's built for that. Tipping's normal when rock crawling 🤦
