Great job of picking out the variations in Keith’s playing-reminds us of how inventive, nuanced, and engaged his work always is. He’s never just knocking out a rote pattern.
@Taj Vida what a great word. I was in Italy in 2002 or 2003 and saw him getting an icrecream with his granddaughter (she was very young about the same ages as mu kids who were 4-8 at the time). He was dressed in a purple long coat that was made out of velvet or suede. Whatever it was he looked so elegant. My kids had no idea who Charlie Watts was nearly 20 years ago but they do now!He was having as much fun eating ice cream as we were!
I don’t post much on UA-cam, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. You are so much fun to watch, your love of music and guitar just shines through with every video. I am beginning to learn by ear, thanks to you. You have been a huge inspiration to my playing.. mostly from the joy you have in playing. So again, thank you. I hope this message also helps you past any negativity today. Be well
Thanks again, JJ. I’ve listened to this song so many times over the years. I play a lot of Stones tunes (in part thanks to you), but have never tried this one. Another song that affirms that your, and my, taste in music really align. Who, Stones, Zeppelin, Neil and others. Thank you!
My aunt Mary Jo will be gone one year this October. She had a stroke in 02’. Left her handicapped. But she loved sitting around doing jigsaw puzzles. I would visit and do some with her. I bought her house from her kids after she passed. Gonna learn this one for her and play it in the living room. Also top 7 stones songs for me. Thanks for taking us through this one again JJ.
As fantastic as it is, Beggars Banquet unfortunately doesn't have much of Brian playing guitar on it, "No Expectations" is the only track with him on slide.
I think it was a slide guitar in that that's what major song pretty good I think those are psychedelic. Copying The Beatles O'Keefe's running out of ideas but Rye Cooter save them
Hi James, thanks for dropping a piano of knowledge on my head! This video shows the Stones recording Sympathy in '68. However, I have been struggling trying to find out what chords Keith is playing. It sounds like he is in open D with second fret capo fiddling around the seventh fret. Would you be able to tell me which strings/chords he is strumming? Thanks and all the best to you mate! ua-cam.com/video/aAjC2L4hKBM/v-deo.html
Parachute Wyman. Really good stuff there. Thanks for the tip.

It’s hard to believe Charlie is gone...great drummer...elegant bloke...no one gets outta here alive I guess...

Thanks so much. One of my favorite Stones tunes, and one I've never seen anybody else do.

This song demonstrated for me that quite often it's Jagger's line vocal who give the signature and for others it's Keith, glimmers....

Thank you James for all your tutelage.

Simplicity at its finest.
I love these “half barred” chords, ala “Melissa” by the Allman Bros., among others. Almost gives it a minor sound.
right again. the rhythm makes it special.
Thank you for these discussions
Thanks James for your thoughtful takes on these tunes; will definitely check out that Wyman channel
Amazing as always
Liked " hey about another Stones tune"
Thanks for this Stones' classic.
yeah.....that's an awesome channel.....so's yours's and so's this song
another good one, thanks.
This is one of the few I could get on guitar when I was 12. haha
Cool lesson seems playable
Always appreciate your content and smash the like although it's been disabled. Walter Matthau is coo'!
I think it’s a guitar in in Open D with a capo at 2
JJ I know not a big deal to you, but I'm curious, do you know what key this is in? Thanks as always.
B
sounds right...

What strings do you use for your acoustic?
Lights, but I’m not loyal to any brand.

Did i miss the strumming pattern?
Sorry, I don’t really teach beginner-level stuff like strum patterns.
Gerald Scarfe?
Tea Shurt . Another great artiste.
