This was the celebration of Igor Krutoy’s 65th birthday & this was the final song of the show (one very happy Igor)! There were many amazing artists & all sang individually & with each other. Andrea Bocelli was also there (there’s a backstage meeting with him & Dimash on YT). It was a totally amazing night with world class ice skaters & singers all singing songs written by Igor. There has been a story going around about this performance. In rehearsal Aida had to leave the stage for a bit and told Lara that if she wasn’t back in time, to just have Dimash sing her part. Aida is a soprano with the Vienna Opera.

Lara was not well while there but refused to no participate. Her Dr, had her on a lot of med to get her through, and of course Dimash having had a crush on her since he was pre-teen was delighted to sing with her and be in her presence. It showed all over his face and even his hawk like stance over her.

Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event: • Igor Krutoy, the pianist, is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed. Igor is considered as the godfather of the russian music scene, a bigger equivalent for Russia of David Foster for North America. • This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years, they co-created many songs together and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with” • This also explains why the song does not expose more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton. • Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable • Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently. • It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara (he is a fan since he is a child and he covered several of her songs such as Adagio, Love of Tired Swans, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, … / she influenced him a lot on the way he performs and builds his songs) : look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it … • Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 7 years in sicilia before returning there. I attended Maestro Krutoy's Jubilee Tour when it was in NY, and it was amazing, and completely different from what you see here. I didn't know of Igor Krutoy at the time...I went solely to see Dimash and by chance discovered a lot of the Maestro's stunningly beautiful music as well!

What always strikes me about Dimash is his leadership ability to keep the audience and "show off" at solo concerts and amazing modesty, desire not to shine too brightly, to support his partner in duets, joint performances. How do these two personalities get along in it?😮
What a TREAT, and Igor's smile nearly split his face! Aida is rapidly being recognised as an emergent Soprano Great! And we can clearly hear / see why! This was also the first time Dimash got the chance to sing with the great Lara Fabian, whom he has admired for many years. A Trio of GREATS! { Word has it that Lara turned up unwell, and 24 hours prior to the performance they weren't sure whether she would be able to sing at all. Apparently Aida then joked; "Not to worry, Dimash can sing all our parts!" } True that, but not concurrently. The way all 3 of their voices performed… Absolutely beautiful. Dimash was such a gentleman. His control and his warm rich baritone voice is like velvet. This was a birthday celebration for Igor, so he had invited all of his favorite singers to this event. Why an ice arena? Because Igor loves ice skating. That’s why. 😊

Another fantastic young singer you should definitely react to is 20 year old Lucy Thomas from the UK. She is destined for international stardom, she has 70 + videos on utube. Also her duets with her 5 years and 8 months younger sister Martha are stunning.
Regarding Dimash chameleon ability to adapt to whomever he sings with, you are in for a big treat. Recently Dimash has been singing with many amazing amazing singers. First you raise me up, he adjust his vocal to match the children choirs. Then in Lose Control, he control his vocal to match Chante Moore. Then in Red Moon, again he sings elevate the song with Huang Xiayun. Then in Become a Poet, again he sings in perfect harmony with Gong Linna. The latest performance, he sang Unforgettable Day with Huang Xiayun and Terry Lin. Each of these singers have their own unique style, and Dimash somehow becomes their perfect duo.
